It's because you're an unknown manager. I would go for Tevez but am instead trying to get Messi, Tuncay and Felipe or Gallas inside £10m.

Anyone playing with a lesser European side i.e. my Boavista team, there are some interesting players on free transfers - Zlatko Zahovic for example. Not as good as he once was, but still capable considering half my team are out on loan and I only have three strikers.

Some of the prices on this game are ridiculous- Man Utd bought Andy Johnson for £15m, and Chelsea paid £9m for Mikele Leigertwood :eek:hmy:. Ridiculous.

If you want a bargain, go for Danny Szetela. Very cheap for his age and ability, and his value increases a lot, along with his attributes. He's also very versatile.

Commentary after Rooney scored in Champions League knockout match:

Rooney knew just where the goal was!

He starts to lift off his shirt...

But after a quick glance at the ref changes his mind!

Thought that was more entertaining than the usual text commentary. As for players, check out Sivok, he's a 22 year old defensive midfielder and I'm grooming him to take over from Keane at the end of the season. I got him for just over £1 million and he's so reliable.

For those managing less glamourous sides, Zigic might be worth a look too. He's basically the definition of a target man. One look at his height and weight and you'll know exactly what I'm talking about.

It's basically the same game with certain features expanded and improved.

I'm not going to list the improvements because I'm sure there's countless websites with that on, but it feels far more realistic and feature-rich than the previous game. I honestly couldn't fault it so far.

I think you can, if I remember rightly. But I do it myself, it's better to do things like that yourself because it loses it's appeal if you get your assistant manager to do things for you.

Sivok is one of these Czech players in the game whose stats are overrated and mostly over 13, isn't he? There are loads of them around in the game

Yep, I've only seen him play in three full games and in two he's been very impressive. To be fair, he looked a class apart for the Czech youth side at the youth tournaments a while ago; That's the reason I had a look at him in Football Manager.

He's a perfect defensive midfielder. 18 for tackling, marking and heading not to mention very strong passing ability, and 17 for long shots too. He actually has no weaknesses whatsoever. Unfortunately, everybody with over £1.5 million is just going to buy him straight away. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with that, but I get much more satisfaction from scouting my own talent, than just signing a Football Manager 2006 'legend'.

That's why I'm wary of just posting the most valuable young players in my game, or posting the brightest talents in the game so far in this thread, because it definitely takes the fun out of the game when you have a list of great players you can easily buy.

Of course, if you ask me to reccomend a player, I'll be happy to oblige.

Ashton is rather special on that game. 37 in his first season, and Arsenal offered £3m. £3m? Andy Johnson didn't come close to the amount Deano scored yet Man Utd paid £15.5m for him.

As for youngsters, I've mentioned him before, but Danny Szetela. Yank midfielder.
