Yeah I had similar trouble. My brother told me to install Microsoft DirectX SDK which helped. Also, if you want to do a network game, download Hamachi.

I downloaded it and it basically made me run the game properly. It's a big file so takes a while to download. I'm not too clued up on patches, I use the one that's already on my version. 9.10 i think it is.

No, you won't need to install the game again. Once it's saved on Your Comp, you should be able to get straight into it.

I may just re-install Championship Manager 2001/02, or CM4, to take care of this football management bug I've got. They were both great, in my view. The hassle seems to out weigh the worth with Football Manager 2009. But I'm still tempted when it's at £19.99 and my mate has his up and running flawlessly.

Any other fans of CM 01/02 and/or CM4? I thought both were excellent. And it'd be great to sign Zola, and Batistuta, again. And Massimo Carrera, who was bloody immense for an old timer on the cheap. Damn it! I'm gonna have to install one of them, or else go for FM 2009 tomorrow!

CM 01/02 was when I caught the fever. An epic game, Greatest moment was leading West Ham into the champs league and winning the league cup over Villa in the same season.
