Where abouts is the job you were offered? I might be able to make it more specific to you
I think I read/heard somewhere that Leeds has the most trendy bars/cafe's for a city of its size in the world, which is a good or bad thing depending on whether you like to spend £5 for a coffee and a biscuit, but still, they make the place look nice.
Theres a lot of shops as you probably know, it's also handy that theres a lot of arcades around like the one pictured above, so if it rains you can head for one of those to get dry.
Corn exchange... dont go there unless you're a mosher or grunger or skater or whatever term you use to name these animals which roam our streets. This is their little meeting place. However the corn exchange area is probably the best place to catch a bus in Leeds, depending on where youre going.
Riverside development programme thingy means that all those scatty buildings have been turned into modern, £250,000 apartments. Aparantley Dominic Matteo lives in one of them. If you have a spare wad of cash hanging around I recommend them as theyre in a great location and look stunning
The city was more of a buzzing place when Leeds were in the champions league, but im sure that wont affect you. Unless youre planning a job for life...
Finally found a pic of what that development looks like.
