There's a lot of formation recommendation for almost all well known team but so far i haven't see any that mentioned about the default ML team which i believe will be helpful to get us through the initial stage till we can earn enough credits to buy better player.

I play 4-4-2 with the diamond shape midfield

Same here, I find the default 3-5-2 formation too hard to play with the default team mainly because their stats are so bad. I stick with a 4-4-2(2CB's, 2SB's, 1DMF, 2SMF's, 1AMF, and 2CF's). Also, I recommend you use Ruskin at SB, I think his name is, because by the second season he gains a pretty decent amount of experience points per each game played.

Thanks for the tips.

I'll give it a try with 4-4-2 diamond when i'm back. Hopefully it will make my game easier. :D

i usually play 4-4-2. found it however quite hard to score so if you go one goal up you need to control the play and keep an eye out for low stamina. then i try to buy new cf and cmf/amf when i get the cash it is not easy caus no one want to buy your players ... but i think the default players make the game mutch more fun... it is good when you get that last minute winner/equalizer

Thats a b*tch...
Those guys are really bad and as so there is no right or wrong formation...You have to choose a formation that you feel confortable with, as it all comes down to your quality and obviously not theirs...

The default players are horrible indeed. But it will definitely improve your game playing with these guys. I usually play with 1 winger, 1 cf and 1 ss but you can chance the formation to your personal preference. As long its a formation suitable for countering. The trick is; watch the attack/defence level of your opponent (little colored bars in the bottom of the screen). Usually the comp. will attack just before half time and in the last 15 min of the game. This means even some comp. defenders will join the attack. This is your time to counter (throughball)! The only problem is the lack of speed in your squad. The only fast player is Burchet but he has terrible stamina, so put him on the bench and sub him around the 60/75 min when the comp. is about to attack. Other the that just try to hold on to the 0 and hope for the best. Ooh and dump most of these players in the first negotiation period and get some transfer free replacements (Newcomers, non-affiliated). These cannot be worse then your default players. Good luck!!

I played the 4-4-2, A-1 formation, the one with a deep DMF, 2 SMF's pushed up the flanks and an AMF sitting behind the front 2.

I have continued using this formation to this day up to 2010 when I have 134 WEFA ranking points and am 45 points ahead of the next best team! So it has served me well!

I make some slight adjustments to the formation, using the 'attack arrows'. The Side Backs have arrows pointing out to the flanks and back towards their goal-line to keep them back during some attacks and also keeping them out wide to help counter-act wingers. When facing wingers I assign the Side Backs to aggressive man-marking duties.

Then the SMF's get 1 diagonal arrow pointing towards the corner flags in front of them (towards both flanks and opponent's goal-line). This gets them making more runs forwards and helps keep them wide.
