Free kicks in PES5...

the triple tap system which was mention earlier is great for free-kicks and corners, it is a lot more precise.
if i'm around the box, about 25 yrds out, i aim to stop the power bar just past half way, aim 1 yard wide of the goal, and curl it into the top corner. good free-kick takers can score them 5/10 times. it's a lot easier than pes4.

Choose one player and stick to him.

I take free kicks with Rooney all the time (he's amazing in the Master League).

But I still can't score with him or anyone regularly. No matter how close, no matter how far.

So far, I've still only scored 2 free kicks so far. And I've been playing PES5 since early November. :(

It was completely different for WE9 though. I scored around 35 free kicks in WE9 in only 1 months play.

for my master league, i have a guy called wiglemton (dont know who he is in real life) and he scores 6/10 free-kicks from 25yds or nearer.

does ne1 know who wiglemton is or who he plays for?

I've never heard of him.

He might be a generated player.

he could be, but he is 27 on my game and i am in my 6th season.
i tried searching for him on google but got no ideas on who he is. handy player though.
i also have mohamed zidan who plays for egypt, super headerer of the ball and great shot as well.
obafemi martins is supreme though. he is the best young player in the world at the moment.

on the master league i take my free-kicks with frank lampard. he has never scored one yet, and i haven't actually scored one with anyone for that matter. rooneys stats for free-kicks now seem to be pretty good, so i might give him a chance as free-kick taker.

i find the free kick system way easier than any version of pes/we i've ever played.. maybe too easy even...
Really? PES 3 was the easiest for me, then 5. 4 was ridiculously hard. I saved every free kick i scored because they were such a rarity, but they looked so sweet when they went in.

Freekicks in PES 4 was spot on. It resembled real life.
Freekicks in PES 5 are EASY... If you know how to do them.
I can't explain how I do them, you have to find out for yourself.

Go to training mode and choose free training. Then press start and look in training menu and choose freekicks. Set camera to vertical medium(or something similar that makes you really see the trajectory and curl on the ball).

Experiment from different positions and with different takers and notice how the shot gets affected by holding x(gives it a high trajectory) or triangle(low trajectory). Also notice how the trajectory can be further influenced by holding down or up on d-pad(before you press shoot button)... And don't forget to curl the ball(hold left or right after you press the shoot button).

If you have a really gifted player like zico or juninho sometimes you don't need to curl it at all(it curls by itself).

The lay-off thing is just too easy, especially up close. I consider it as cheating. (And I find curlers in the top corner 10 times as beautiful).

You have to be aware that there are 7 or 8 different types of freekicks in the game, and some are more common than others. For example beckhams type of freekick is exclusive to him(I think), the same with ronaldinho.
The amount of time you have to hold the shoot button in order for the ball to go over the wall is different for each type of freekick-style. And also the STATS play a HUGE role. Always look at the stats before you try a freekick with someone.

If the freekick is far away (30 m+) you need someone with power. If it is close(<25 m) then you need someone with high curling attributes.

The key thing here is PRACTICE and EXPERIMENT...

I think freekicks in PES is one of the very best things about the game because as in real life they require training. It's a really good feeling when you play your mate and you get a freekick and you can see the fear in his face. An even better feeling is when the ball flies into the top corner and your mate remains completely silent.

I love this game.

PS! Defending freekicks: As soon as possible choose a player and put him at the near post where you expect the ball to come. Sometimes this can deny your opponent a goal.

Free kicks

Im finding free the two man free kicks are so easy to score! im scoring about 75% of free kicks this way! practice the two man free kick and it becomes like a penalty at close range! its great

I scored a 40yarder with Adriano yesterday while playing with my mate. His jaw dropped. Was very nice to see especially becuause of the way he takes his freekicks.

I'm giving free-kicks a real go now.

I need to concentrate for around 2-3 minutes before I take them but guess what?

Now I keep hitting the bar or the post (with the ball going deflecting out of play). :realmad:

I think I might just pass or cross the ball every time I get a free kick.

It'll definitely be of more use than shooting in my opinion. :(

I'm playing an Serie A league with Milan and I have two excelent free-kick experts: Pirlo and Jankulovskiy those two are deadly they rarely miss... Once the ball passes the barier it's a done deal...

I hate to bump an old thread but I just thought I'd let everyone know about my latest experiences in pulling off successful free kicks.

I decided to go back to playing WE9 the other day. I played a friendly with England (on 5 stars) and I was given 1 free kick 25 metres from goal. And guess what, I only went and scored. :eek:hmy:

And incidentally, the CPU were given two free kicks in the same game. One free kick hit the bar; the other hit the post. :shocking: But both free kicks were taken from about 28-24 metres from goal.

So, I've concluded that free kicks in WE9 are a lot easier to master than in PES5.

this might sound stupid, but how do you curl the ball while you take a free kick????????????
