Free Kicks

How do you kick the ball over the wall consistently? Even if I give it pretty good height on the bar it will still go into the wall 3/4 of the time. I've tried different variations... How do I do it?

free kicks on pes5 do seem harder than they were on pes4. i also have trouble taking them. i took a free kick once with frank lampard and i hit xabi alonso (who was in the wall) on the head, full pelt.

Oh sorry I didn't mention it. I'm in the states so I'm playing Winning Eleven 8 International. Is there a certain button combination I should be pushing?

i dont no wat button controls we8i uses, but if its like pes5 u can press down on the d pad / analog stick to make the kick weaker but easier to get over the wall. or, you can press x for slightly weaker kick (on pes4 this was R2). funnily enough, the kicks i find easiest on pes5 r roberto carlos curlers - which i could never do on PES2,3or4

press down while shooting the ball but this only works from short distances 25 meters and less

Get used to taking free kicks with one player and make sure his FK stat is quite high. When you get a feel for how he kicks it, you'll be scoring soon enough. Changing players all the time does not help you get into the rhythm to take them right.

a gerrard free kick works a treat for me, in pes4 I used to hold forward and r1 to get lo0ads of power but now i just hold the direction i want to curl it (without using up and down to speed up and slow the shot down) from areas of 20-30 metres and 7/10 times i can score

Also when there is a big enough gap between the wall and the far corner (where the goalie stands), I lay it off and roast it into the bottom corner.
