Free Kicks

In PES5 for the PS2, there seems to be way too many free kicks.

The ref seems to be biased towards computer players and he always seems to give away free kicks when it's not a free kick.

One time I did a foul which wasn't even a foul, and got a yellow card. A few minutes after that I got deliberately hacked right outside the box when I was through on goal, and the player never got any card!

My brother also has this problem, and it's really starting to piss me off. It also happened in PES4 and it was so bad I actually took the game back and got a refund lol.

Does anyone else have this problem, and if so, is the game supposed to be like that, or is it a glitch/bug?

I couldn't see any on the first page so I just assumed there wasn't any lol.

I was too lazy to look but I suppose I better, lol.

mmcg when you start getting better this will change. You won't be diving into tackles as much. Little tip* If your mate gives away a freekick near the halfway line, instead of just booting it up the pitch. Pass it on the floor to a player just outside the box. When he receives the ball don't press any buttons. Your bro/mate should dive in & give away a freekick in range. Works 70% of the time.

Haha, no matter how much you improve it doesn't stop the AI being able to foul as much as it likes with hardly any repercussions!

yea the computer is a dirty ba****d and some of the s**t it gets away with is frustraiting but it makes it more worthwhile when you score that winning goal.

I just tried 3 stars and I was appaled at the difference between 2 and 3 stars.

On 2 stars I win every game at least 2-0.

On 3 stars I struggled to even create any chances. I felt like I was playing on 5 or 6 stars lol.

Why is there such a big difference?

3* happens to be very defensive apparently...so it's unlikely you'll concede a goal whereas trying to score a goal is like escaping Colditz

Ha ha. haven't you ever watched a real game? Refs are always perfect and players never dive or fake injury. Seriously, the referees are vastly improved from the last version where fouls would be called when the players were 5 yards apart. I came to assume the ref was calling a "handball". At least in this version you have make contact to hear the whistle. Konami did a decent job improving this aspect.

Haha, that's the most absurd claim I've ever heard. In PES 4 players were like brick walls and you'd have to hold down X to get them down, whereas now you only need to run near them

You must realise that the computer cheats from 3* upwards, but it doesnt stop me, you have to live with it. It does annoy me though that you get pulled over for running in the computers shadow whereas they can break your legs and get away with it.

I wouldnt have thought it was a big enough problem to make someone take the game back to the shops. I know it has a big effect on the game (slows it down etc.) but youve just got to get on with it and play the game.

If you just wait for the perfect moment I find tackling is incredibly easy, I hardly ever commit fouls and I'm so good at tackles that my mates never get a shot in any more.
