What happened to tackling!
after playing the game all day on sunday im getting frustrated!!!!!
I used to be the ultimate tackler, my sliding tackles are legendary!! whats happened does any one else think that you cant tackle any one!
None of the players mark anyone!! they are standing away from the players you dont get chance to stay near the opponents and hastle them or pull off award winning sliding tackles!! its so frustrating!The only way is to pick up a bad pass (which happens all the time) Run into the players!! or wait for pinball deflections to kick in!

The defense part of PES has always been poor.Bad pass is the only way i get control of the ball.Forget tackling even player pressure and team mate pressure is no longer useful.If u use too much pressure and eventually get hold of the ball, the stupid referee is just waiting for that moment to cry foul.There is no way u an get the ball back if u r lagging by a goal and only the last few minutes are remaining.u might as well put the controller aside and just watch the game.cos there is no way u can come back from that situation :(

Tackling with "o" is the best. It is good and you can get the ball. The thing pes is missing are ball battles. But not tackling. Learn to tackle first. Tackling this year, is better than in pes 09.

^ Indeed. Giving fouls when barely touching a player, but no foul when tackling with the leg at knee hight without even being close to touching the ball..

Wow. I think the tackling is too effective this year!

Sliding tackle is too easy and rarely results in a foul. Standing tackle/pressure is also on the too-easy side, especially when it's as easy as it is to grab the ball from a player in his own 18 yard box.

It's so strange how one person's opinion can be so different, but I'm being honest. Closing down with two players is just two easy, and slides are effective but result in less fouls than ever IMO!

Also, the refs are great this year when it comes to challenges IMO. They let about 50% go and the others are usually deserved.

PS - The interceptions are easier and better this year as well IMO. FOr example, when playing BAL you can get much more of them per game, even with an attacking player.

Disagree regarding the refs. As written above your post, i think they give away free kicks in the wrong situations and don't give them when they're supposed to be there..

It's so annoying when i just run behind him, and shoulder tackle so he gets slightly out of balance and i hear the refs whistle, but then a minute later do a sliding tackle he without touching the ball - no foul given..

So it goes both ways, but i still find it frustrating..

But as you mention - it's interesting how people can think so different about these things..

Well my major bug,you may have already found it!Try a sliding tackle face to face so when the COM is coming towards you, your tackle just ends as he reaches you.So youve finished sliding and the COM slows down then falls over you as your stationary for a split second!Resulting in a booking for you!The game must know at what speed your entering the tackle and the angle you approach at.Instead 70% of the time when you try a slide tackle the computer decides because youve pressed that button the refs got his card out already!
My opinion is this years tackling is very difficult to perfect over previous years,without getting booked anyway!

Looks like your just getting your timing wrong ... i love the new tackling ... you can get a proper crunch without getting sent off !

Yes but thats why i explained trying that particular tackle!I understand we all have our own views,and if youve got the hang of it then i hope i can to.I was trying to say even when you can time your tackle to perfection,i,e not even touch the guy then the COM ref should by now be able to decide correctly!

^Totally agree. Know it's about timing, but still i disslike that both me and com can tackle like maniacs inside the box and no fouls being given. The penalty issue is getting quite annoying, even though it goes both ways..

The ref is way too harsh in this one and my god your right about no one marking!! It's a shambles! I thought PES2010 was meant to have some new off the ball controls?? I think I actually preferred 2009!

But it's a ref problem not a tackle problem?
I know this game has ref problems unfortunately.

maybe its just me then,but i spend the whole game running after players, banging into them! the days of tracking a defender or a pass then nipping the ball off them are gone. also sliding tackles seem toi miss the players and they just step over you!

I just think the game seems to stutter the players pause before they do anything also they just dont mark players they are always in space!(too far off the man they are marking!!) you check next game!

I was just talking about tackles in general. When both me and com tackle without touching the ball, nothing happens.

However sometimes, as you say, you barely touch them (or you barely get touched) and have a good scoring oportunity but ref whistles..

I haven't problem with tackle 'x' or 'o'. It's about timing.

If in real life you are def. you'll know how to get ball in football game,too. :)

The problem is the consistent inconsistency.

I tip of a COM player - foul

I run towards the box, only to be creamed, without the COM player even getting near the ball - no foul.

Its so bloody frustrating.

And then when the AI decides to try and defend for you - disaster. How many goals I've conceded because one of my players decided to pass it to a COM player in the box, or completely miss hits it, or fouls on the edge of the area. Grrrrr..
