Frustrating things

I really felt like making a topic about the things that frustrate me when playing demo 1 for the x360. I´ve played enough matches, not just a few. Some of these matches were great actually, no cheating AI and some great football. Other were just horrible..

First, you should know that I have always been a Fifa player. I tried Pes 12 last year and I really liked it at first, but it began to frustrate me as I couldnt place my shots, the AI cheating etc etc. I then sold Pes and started playing Fifa again. That means I don´t have that much Pes experience, so this might be very normal to you guys. But I just wanted to share these things and see your opinions.

Lets start with the - well known problem - cheating. Like I said, I'm not an experienced Pes player so I play on Professional/top player diffuculty mostly. And the cheating is riduculous.

Normal passes with players like Pirlo/Gerrard randomly fail, my opponent gets the ball and it will result in a goal against me. This happened to me with 4 bars passing assistence. Also poor passes in defence, I'm not under pressure and my defender will give the ball a little touch when the passing power bar if 75%.

When one on one defending, I sometimes cant switch control to my last defender..my opponent can just walk straight pass me and score?

I started playing with no passing assistence. 19/20 through balls were shit. Using manual passing doesnt work well for me..long distance: power bar almost full and players like Pirlo will give a shitty pass like I charged the power bar for 10%. And when I want to do a less powerfull trough pass, lets say charge the power bar for 30%, he will shoot like I fully charged the power bar.. :erm:

It also feels like most of the players have the same control over the ball.

Is it just me? Maybe I dont know how to handle the game? I dont know..but it really frustrates me.

I really want to give Pes a shot again..

Unfortunately for me, the Scripting in Top Player was very too much too. I really hope this gets fixed. I have great games where Im happy to score just to have the AI score on me 2min later. If this is in the final build I might not be able to play it

I read somewhere that konami wanted go tone it down. Although i dont know why they just dont remove it or make the ai play smarter. I hope someone comes out with a mod. I hsd one for 2012 but didn't remove it completely

Pes 13 so far does have it's fair share of problems even with cheating, but cheating is not nearly as evident as in Pes 12, because in Pes 12, you couldn't do anything about it. but in Pes 13, you can make it happen slightly less. But yes, cheating will never go away. BTW, don't tell me you chose Fifa 12 over Pes 12 just because of cheating, because Fifa 12 is a god of AI cheats. ;)

Normal passes with players like Pirlo/Gerrard randomly fail, my opponent gets the ball and it will result in a goal against me. This happened to me with 4 bars passing assistence. What do you mean by passing fails?
I guess I can help out a little here.

For short passes to build up play (NOT to speed up play) and to pass the ball to the NEAREST teamate, press and hold R2 and then press the pass button. Trust me R2 passes are safer to pull off.

To speed up play and TO PASS TO THE FURTHER TEAMAMTE (when you have 1 close teamate and 1 further away) try normal passing.

Oh and the biggest tip here is to FORGET Fifa's Passing. In Pes 13 it's not just about passing to pass the ball or because you have to or you are forced to. Every pass has to be thought and you also have to anticipate the second pass as soon as you pass the fist one. So yeah, practice makes perfect. I am by far not the best pes 13 player (because it's a demo so far), but I don't think that underpowered passing in an issue. Actually, the through balls are a bit overpowered to be honest.

As for long passing. Watch your teamates. Look closely until they make a run (or trigger it yourself) and as soon as they start their run, quickly make a through ball and I can assure you that once you get your grips with it, it's easy. Again forget Fifa's through balls. They work different.

It also feels like most of the players have the same control over the ball.

I would have loved more emphasis on this, but the difference between a dribbler like Giovinco and Ronaldinho compared to other players is quite clear. Also, this rally shines when you dribble with the R2. Dribbler are able to chain more moves together and quicker than others.

Myself, I still haven't got the grips with dribbling because it's very different this year. I really need training mode for the next demo. But dribbling in pes 13 is way more fun than dribbling in pes 12 that's for sure.

As for scripting. Te worst mode is Top Player. Avoid it. Play professional or superstar. Not saying there aren't any scripting, but compared to top player it's way less evident.

I´ve always played Fifa on world class diffuculty and didnt notice any cheating. And no, I didnt quit Pes just because of the cheating. Maybe the step from Fifa to Pes was to big for me and I didnt spend too much time on the game to get used to it. But I really want to give Pes a shot again because Fifa will dissapoint me anyway, and career (master league in Pes) will bore me after 1 season already.

Failing passes: Good passers in the game, for example Pirlo give a shitty pass when I'm not under pressure. With shitty passes I mean, he will just pass the ball real soft, or not in the direction I wanted it to go. (which could be scripting aswel)

I hope teammates will be more active than Pes said they would be, because they hardly walk into open spaces so i cant give a lot of trough balls. Hoping to see improvement in the second demo.

And yeah, as for the dribbling. Maybe I'm not used to it and I need more time on the [final] game to learn it.

To get rid of all these problems start playing online.
all players are like us, they have the same problems that we have
or play human vs human offline.
when you play online a lot you'll find it easier to beat the computer.
that's what happend to me on pes 12

That's what put me off Fifa 12 (apart from other annoying issues). But the AI was just way too bad and when the AI beat you, it never felt right. he way the AI cheated in Fifa 12 is very evident. They have way better reflexes than any of your players, shooting missiles from everywhere, untouchable in the last area (where the AI attacker always knocks your defender off) and I could tell when they were gonna score. But enough of Fifa 12. That's only my experience with it. I also didn't really like pes 12 to be clear.

Yes, the power bar can act up sometimes. It needs refining and yes, the power bar rises up a bit too fast, but overall, with enough practice and good use of R2 passing combined with normal and through ball passing, you can pass where ever you want. The difference between a bad pass and a good one, isn't just the accuracy you see. You have to learn to read your teammates and their movements. Trust me, passing is not difficult at all. The thing is that h mechanics of Pes are very different to Fifa and if you are used to Fifa, then you will find Pes' passing very difficult at first.

There are instances where they could be more active, yes, but overall, they are really active. It's just as I said. In Pes 13 YOU have to anticipate a through pass before the AI defender and just about when your teammate decides to make the run see their hand. When they raise it, pass it) and not when your teammate is already in the open (like the case with Fifa). Not saying that this doesn't work. But for through balls, the best way is to anticipate a through pass just as your teammate makes a run (now he may not be in a good spot when you pass, but just because he is on the verge of doing a run, he will most likely get the ball before the defender). Yes it sounds tough, but it's really not once you learn this.

Like you, I was finding pes 13's passing strange at times, but now once I started using this anticipating tactic, it is working extremely well.

And yeah, as for the dribbling. Maybe I'm not used to it and I need more time on the [final] game to learn it.

Me too and I intend to burn out training mode before I head on to master league to train all out on dribbling as I feel I really need it.

I was impressed that the 2013 demo removed the header cheating and the defensive clear/gk cheating where we always lost these balls to the CPU or the CPU made pinpoint passes when just trying to conduct and emergency clear the ball from the area.

I probably write about this too often but really liked that this changed.

My massive gripe with the demo is to do with keepers, i really hope they can sort it.

It's when you burts through the defense and are heading into the box and clear for 1 on 1 with the keeper, and he just stands glued to his goal line letting you just run at him and smack it in from a couple of yards out.

Please tell me they can sort it!

Don't like full manual in this game. Try using L2's directional arrow and you can see its not fully rotational so passing is still not 360 like 2011. This leads to the CPU controlling some L2 shots or 0 bar passes

The Stamina system is absolutely AWFUL, its absolutely HORRIBLE.

Can KONAMI explain why we have stamina system if CPU players keep running like they are on drugs in the 115th minute of the game?

Oh please don't remind me of pes 2011 passing, it was the BEST EVER!!

i hope KONAMI bring back 2011's passing system

for me, passing is the most important thing in soccer games

wait until you have to do the nutmeg shot in training on demo2 now thats frustrating

Oh god, infuriating to pull off there, yes, but absolutely SCREAMS exploitable. The animation the keeper enters when executed correctly means it's almost certainly an unstoppable script once triggered. Going to be satan online, as will that knuckle ball shot.
