is it me or do full backs always attack in this game ?? its getting very annoying now because when i play online against the real madrids, they leaving a lot of space and am getting punished for it.

I like my fullbacks to attack in my online master league! I have the bookends Rafeal and Fabio!

But i'm pretty sure I've seen this discussed before and I think if you change your fullbacks into centre backs in your tactics it stops them bombing forward. I know if they are full backs only their stats will suffer by doing this.

Have you tried placing your fullbacks deeper?

When i play offline as Brazil i wait for ages for Alves, Maicon, Bastos to come forward.

cheers i will try and change them into centre halves and see what happens

Try this:
Go into Game Plan --> Set Piece settings --> Players to join attack

Maybe your fullbacks are selected to join attack in every set piece?

Another thing to consider, although personally I've never really payed attention to:

check the player's awareness. This can be super defensive, defensive, balanced, offensive or super offensive.

Maybe you have sidebacks who have balanced or offensive as their awareness. Try to get some defensive or super defensive sidebacks if you really don't want them to go up the pitch as LB/RB.
