General Opinion of the Demo and Improvements

I have been playing Pro Evolution Soccer for about 5 years, I used to be a fifa player, from Fifa 97, then I found PES 5 for my PSP.. LOVED IT, and then moved up to PES 6 when it came out, and I played PES 5 and 6 on my psp up to 2 years ago.

I got PES 2009 for PC, I enjoyed it, then moved onto PES 2010, and now I plan on buying PES 2011.

I enjoyed PES in the past for its atmosphere, its fast paced, looks nice, the shooting is great, its fun and in my opinion was better than Fifa up to 2010 sadly. Now I want PES back on top.

My opinions and suggestions.

I played the PC Demo, I am a PC gamer.

Movement in general and especially Sprinting needs to be faster.
After a player has beaten a defender, or is open in space, they should exert Extra effort, and accelerate at a high speed, its Realistic.. Look at the speed some people Break away in real life, Lennon, Walcott, Messi etc.. we need Speed.

The directions you can move feel limited, I don't wan't to compare this to Fifa too much, but I recommend the so called 360 degree movement. So its more realistic, this feels wooden a little.

Passing needs to be easier, you'd expect a tap pass to go to your player at a normal speed, and a higher power bar pass to go at a much higher speed but harder to control. In the demo, a Tap Pass means kicking the ball a few yards infront of you.. Not great.. makes no sense.

Shooting needs to be more powerful, Human's can kick a ball at 114 MPH, highest speed recorded by a footballer. Games should have that capability. The shots seem a little weaker. Add variety, and add lots of power, powerful shots don't need to be Skied, SO many good footballers can kick a ball increadibly fast and keep it low. A full power bar almost always results in an out of the stadium type of shot..

The Power bars are o...k, could be a little clearer though in my opinion.

Reactions and touches are still not very good, the split second my player gets the ball, I want him to listen to my commands, like Sprint right, or left, instead, it has the same problem as PES2010, the player receives the ball and stands with it at his feet for about half a second before reacting.. sounds like nothing, but in that time, the opposition is on top of you tackling. Players need to INSTANTLY gain control of the ball, and react instantly to commands. NO waiting.

I hope you have addressed the big issue of COM players Hacking your players without a foul, So many times in PES2010, especially in the box, my players were late tackled, mowed down, rock solid penalties, and nothing was given. Not good. I hope it has changed, I haven't played enough to check.

On the other side of Tackling, I hope normal Pressure tackling causes less fouls, so many times on PES2010 I have pressured someone with the ball and they have slightly stumbled forward for a foul.. seems like a light threshold. Also in PES2010 if more than one player tackled the opposition, in almost ANY circumstance, it was an instant foul, does not always need to be the case. Two players can fairly overwhelm a player and take the ball.

In Replays, the camera choices are not good, they feel Very restricted, PES2010 replays were brilliant, please say the official release will have free moving camera's.

The Menu's look like Konami are trying too hard to get down with the young people.. xD, all of the effects and colours aren't really needed, they make it look a little tacky. I Loved the PES2010 circular main menu, Simple and very well made.

On the Game Plan screen, I think when you simply highlight a player without clicking, his stats should come up, so you can see instantly if he is useful to you or not, if not you then click and change your team around, otherwise, its well done.

To please everyone, you need more League's and teams like your Rival does, For fans of English football (A HUGE MARKET), you need the full Premiership, the Championship, League 1 and League 2. That would be acceptable. Same with La Liga and its lower leagues, Serie A etc... you get the idea.

And of course, get all licenses as soon as you can.

Just my opinions and suggestions.

I know I shouldn't directly compare PES to FIFA, they are both different games, and by no means do I wan't both to be the same...

But I hope PES finds its direction soon, Fifa has cracked realism, they own the genre, thats coming from a PES fan here.. I think it will be a losing battle for PES to chase Fifa at this point, their move from Fifa 10 to Fifa 11 isn't that big because they had Huge success.. you guys have had to completely revamp your entire game due to previous failures, sorry to say.

I think PES should go down the route of.. Fun, Enjoyability of playing. Make a solid game, it doesn't have to resemble real life.. why does it have to?

Fifa Street and other abstract football games have messed up big time in the past, they are too ridiculous. Which is why its often somewhere sports games don't want to venture.

But I believe if you made a Football game different from Fifa, different feel, different atmosphere, different graphics, it would be a success, Once you crack movement, speed, reactions, you have a solid baseline, you can make the football faster, high intense, thousands of different movements, shots and angles, push the boundries a little.

Make a Game, not a Simulation.

And I'm not sure if you're banned from doing this, but Fifa's menu game thing, with just a player, half a pitch and the goalkeeper is awesome.. I've always loved it even though I never play Fifa games, mainly I use it at friends houses, all of my friends with consoles are Fifa fans..

Is there no PES version of it you guys could make?, even if its just a link from the main menu to instantly put you onto a pitch with a single player, in a following camera. Its good to test out movements, train, practise shots, penalties, free kicks etc..

I've always thought it would be nice to do that, but instead of a miss meaning you stop and start again, you could disable the ball going out of play, and add a big Wall behind the goal so the ball bounces back at you if you miss, so you can try out more abstract shots coming back at you, like volleys and headers and such, would keep it flowing.

Good luck PES.

Vouch.

It feels very stupid that there is no such option as a short but very fast sprint that would of course deplete a lot of player's stamina. These would be effective in both offense and defense, a sort of a desparate charge to the net or a defensive life-saver.

I must disagree about of lot stuf you said here!!!

Movement in general and especially Sprinting needs to be faster.

This is a game man, those "extra effort" you are talking about is just gonna cause BUGS - believe me. And that could set fast players in a huge advantage over the others. Think about it: You receive the ball, pass the defender and you are unbeatable.

If you are capable to do it by yourself (w/o extra effort), you will be able to play better than others. And when you pass the defender just press R1+R2 and player will forwarding the ball and move quicker

IT IS WAY BETTER TO FIGURE OUT YOUR WAYS OF PLAY, INSTEAD OF USING SOME DEFINED SPEED SITUATIONS

Passing needs to be easier, you'd expect a tap pass to go to your player at a normal speed, and a higher power bar pass to go at a much higher speed but harder to control.
The are great. You now have more freedom than ever in direction and power effort of pass. Sure we will suffer in the beginning, but we will figure it out eventually.

Players need to INSTANTLY gain control of the ball, and react instantly to commands. NO waiting.
Commands are good enough. Player react quickly, and if you want immediate move, use "super cancel". It works just fine

Shooting needs to be more powerful, Human's can kick a ball at 114 MPH, highest speed recorded by a footballer. Games should have that capability.
Players like Villa can shoot the ball to hard form any position and in almost every situation (running or standing) and with out learning any technique of shoots . Reflected balls in front of the box can be smashed by players very hard (that is great). When we learn how to work out the good positions for shoot, it might be to powerful. Lucky the defense can be controlled fine enough

My suggestion is that "game speed adjustment" should have from -2 to +2 parameters. But it`s not major concern!
GKs needs to bounce the ball behind the bar, when they are making reflect saves, instead of reflecting the ball into the box

I actually played a couple of games with the +1 speed option and +2 speed option, they felt more realistic and were fun to play, more intense, so I'll probably just use them when the proper game comes out.

I still think Fifa will come out on top this year though :(, they have perfected their game instead of having to do a complete overhaul. And Fifa have said they will bring console graphics to the PC version, so they are going to make an impact on the PC market. In the past Fifa have Ignored us, and PES have been loyal.

Sorry if some of my opinions are Harsh, but I have the PES 2011 Demo and Fifa 11 Demo here, and I've been comparing them, which is where my suggestions have come from, as it stands Fifa 11 has more playability, and almost everything about it is better, like the movement, shooting, AI etc..,

It would be asking too much for Konami to basically make a brand new football game with a new engine, and expect it to do better than Fifa's Huge success of Fifa 10 and their improvements in Fifa 11.

I expect once both games are released, unless Konami can pull something out of the bag, Fifa 11 will be getting rave reviews over PES 2011, but hopefully Konami will touch up their game and really close the gap when it comes to PES 2012 and Fifa 12.

I will be buying both games when they come out, so I'll fully compare them then, these are just Demo's.

actually in my opinion and im not having a go at any1 but as i ply football at a high level 4 a club i hav grasped the feeling of plyin on the field and that feeling is present in pes along with AI at certain points(excluding goalkeepers, ther AI needs serius work), pes has always had personality and still does with certain plyers passing a certain way or dribbling a certain way, ive actually found pes much more enjoyable than fifa , fifa som how feels artificial and has no realistic feeling, but pes does feel realistic, the passing system is terrific in pes 2011(thats my opinion) and feels rewarding when you make a thru ball and score.
i am not sayin pes doesnt hav its flaws but atmosphere still needs 2 b improved e.g. player celebrations, plyers need 2 GO CRAZY when scoring 30 yrders, not just clap.. and the goalkeeprs need 2 hav presence on the pitch, individuality and traits 2 mk them different frm each other, also the same with referees wud b good with different refs, different personalities, including the advantage rule.
well i wont hog up this thread talking about a wish list but pes 2 me at the moment really portrays the art of football in the best way.

Its a good game, I've just played 3 more games in a row, closing the game and restarting after each match because I don't feel like sitting through that huge video everytime :/

Anyways, from playing it more, passing is quite good, so are through balls, but I think the ball moves a little unrealistically, like when its kicked quite fast on a through ball, it seems to slow too fast over a short period, I'd expect the ball to roll and bounce a little more, it looks like the ball always has a backspin on it as it travels.

I managed to win two of the games with 5 or more goals this time, which has given me more of an idea on shooting, I can score but I need to be 1 on 1, from what I've seen with every shot but one so far from outside of the box, it looks and reacts like the player has kicked the underside of the ball, and it loops up over the bar, Iniesta has good shooting, but Henry turned on the edge of the box, took a touch and I probably filled about 20% of the Power bar, and he Hoofed it well over the bar...

I felt like he should have easily hit the target, in PES 2010 I am awesome on Professional, averaging 6 - 10 goals per match with my modified Master League team, I cracked the gameplay and I know what to expect with movements and the ability of my players, and so many times 30 - 40 yards out I can sprint into the middle of the field and hit a Rocket into the top or bottom corner, with about 40 - 70% of the power bar or so. In this demo, I rarely attempt more than 40% of the power bar, and most of my shots still fly over the bar like the players are Leaning right back, I could do nothing with Messi or Henry and I was giving them space to shoot.

My only goals came from getting 1 on 1 with the keeper and sliding it past him, or shots inside of the box, outside of it I had no success.

You don`t have to do that. Just outside the game in installed folder is "settings.exe"
Check in first tab the last option "Disable Movie Playback", and game will no longer load movie ::happy::happy:

Ah, thanks for that, I tried the usual when it came up the second time after a game, which went.. Right click, Left Click, Esc, Enter, Space, Backspace, Shift - Give up. If none of those do it, nothing will.

Thanks for the info, I never go into Settings once I set the detail and resolution.

I keep playing, hoping for my opinion to change, but problems keep showing up :(

I got a hint of a big PES2010 problem just there, I took the ball away from the defender, and got taken out, did a bit of a flip and roll, and got nothing.. play continued. The ball was past the defender before he came in for the tackle, and my player got wiped out.. that was too common on PES2010, I hope it gets fully fixed.

I still think first touches and reaction times need work, for example I had a throw in, and I threw it a couple of metres to my other players feet, and as he recieved it, I was telling him to take it and run back into the middle of the field (which on Fifa, the player simultaneously collects the ball and turns), and instead on PES2011 the player put his foot out to take a touch and kicked it forwards out for an opposition throw in. ?? It may be considered small compared to what could be wrong, but that annoyed me enough to close the game and come here.

I still find shooting to be weak and unrealistic, and Barcalona strikers seem to be unable to keep their shots on target, shots that Should be powerful and on target, end up weak and looping over the bar.

I heard a rumor that PES2011 already had its final code, I hope to god this is not true, it has so many issues. I am currently enjoying Fifa more at this point :(, which pains me to say, it has very little if any problems.

Just practice the shooting cuz I'm not having any of your problems. I scored 2 crackers from outside the box with Keita and Maxwell, 2 of the worst shooters on the team. I put a lot of shots on target with David Villa as well. When shots are weak or go way off I always blame myself as I didn't get into a good shooting position and just rushed the shot. Basically it's just like old Pes, give the player and the ball some distance, sometimes can be accomplished by sprinting for a second to push the ball out, and you can set yourself up for a powerful shot. Much like the real world if you ask me.

I can and do score nice goals, scored some good ones outside of the box, but complete misses outnumber them like 15 to 1, I wouldn't complain if I was shooting when being pressured or hounded by defenders, but so many of my failed shots are from being in space, taking a touch and setting the striker up for a good shot, the kind that would be considered a Gift in normal football, and while on PES2010 I managed to literally score hundreds of them using the same method (I've played about 34 full seasons on Master League in PES2010, averaging 120 - 140+ goals per season), on the demo, the shots react like the player has kicked the underside of the ball.

I'm no good at this new PES, but on the Fifa 11 demo, considering I never play the Fifa series of games, I am finding myself playing very well, stringing passes together, making good chances and scoring some real rockets from outside of the box, it feels more authentic.

Pesgamer since pes2, this is the worst ever

This is fifa circe 2004 2005 repackaged , no passion in the gameplay , full of stupid gimmics and stepovers a la fifa , played the demo on top player and won my first match which has never happened before on pes. I cannot be bothered analysing whats wrong with this game because its almost everything , the general feel of the game is meh! I was bored playing the demo using two of the best teams in Europe so what hope will i have of enjoying it using Celtic. I dont normally do posts , but this is so bad i felt i had to. Would prefer a game with twenty teams and no gimmics that played like pes2.

I agree with the no passion in the gameplay.

I think some changes to make it better would be considerably better striking, and better movement and reactions. So many times from throw ins my receiving player flings his foot out to take a touch and kicks it back out for a throw in, its fucking retarded.

I just came off it, and I was Barcalona, I had just perfectly timed a through ball for Messi, and he was about 10 yards ahead of the defenders, and just about to enter the D, I had sprint held down and I wanted to get into the box and slide it past the keeper, and by the time I had SPRINTED into the box with a very fast player, Two defenders had easily made up the distance to get infront of me and take the ball away.

Its pathetic, you're so slow with the ball it makes breaking impossible. Konami need to actually watch football to make a game trying to simulate it. Watch Messi, Rooney, Walcott, Torres, Drogba, Malouda, Tevez, Villa etc.., watch how they run, move, shoot, break.

PES2011 seems to be a football game where every player plays like Emile Heskey. Slow, Fat, Awful control, Can't shoot, Can't run or do anything right.
