Marc Ecko, the founder of *ecko untld. and Complex Magazine has teamed up with Atari Inc, a leader in interactive entertainment, to create the first truly authentic video game based on urban culture. Marc Ecko’s Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure “will be genre-defining. Revolutionary. We will put the flag in the ground of popular culture with Getting Up," says Marc on fulfilling his seven-year vision for this project.

“Getting Up” is based in part on the graffiti culture that played an integral role in Marc’s development as a designer.

Drops June 2005.

Looks canny like, i'm not sure what you can do in the game apart from spray graffiti though. Here's some screens:

Well....that's the whole point of the game mate
"Getting up" means getting your tag up on walls or wherever - If I can pick this up cheap I'll get it, been keeping an eye on it for a while now

Why do people think that every game is going to get banned these days? Ooooh graffiti! Stop being such a numpty

Yeah fair point mutu, I was just wondering if there would be anything else to do in the game, one of the screens shows a fight between two graffiti artists so it looks like that will have a part to play in the game.

There's no chance it will be banned, if games like GTA and Manhunt can be released without then this shouldn't be a problem.

It's not that revolutionary though, didn't Jet Set Radio do the same sort of thing but on a cheesier level.

BTW I think it's a stupid idea for a game and the fact that people who play it will be influenced by it and the dumber ones will reinact it thus making the whole world covered in graffiti makes it even worse.

Hey man I wasn't asking for it to be banned, I was merely saying that it always seems 2 happen these days! I don't think games influence people at all so why ban them? The people who ban these games are numpties

Always seems to happen? Name one that's been banned here in the last year

(Manhunt hasn't been banned, Dixons just stopped selling it so keep thinking)

It wasn't banned in the last year, but a PSone game called 'Thrill Kill' was banned. It was a four-player fighting game which was supposed to have been very violent - but after playing a pirate copy my friend had it wasn't anything too extreme.

It was NZ but who gives a fuck? Kev thinks games always get banned here so try and keep it on topic and not tell stories from half way round the world or go back in time 5 years

Forget it games don't always get banned here, this one wont either

Does anyone know if Postal did get banned though? :D

I struggled to think of one, and as a result went back to 1998 to think of at least one. I can't see how a game about graffiti can get banned and games like State Of Emergency, GTA, Manhunt and others can be released. Although this could be seen as encouraging people to go out and graffiti, it's something harmless and IMO some graffiti is cool.

Still, this game would have be amazing fo me to even consider buying it....

ok so maybe I was wrong? They often threaten to then...Ok mutu maybe ur right. There was that hooligan riot game but thats the only one I can think of.

Mutu I feel that you've had it in for me since I joined this site. Whatever I've done I'm sorry! I'll try and post better more accurate messages in future.

Jet Set Radio did the exact thing with graffiti, it was a good game because it was childish, therefore not realistic!!
This however, looks like GTA in a wierd way!!
