Getting Used To Pro Evo 5

Hi, i started the thread about pro evo not being worth it at all, well i can now say i've really adapted to this new game now.
The main reason is because ive been through the training section quite a lot, played a lot of exabition matches and took advice from people posting on here.

My main moan was the control and speed of the play but after you've got used to it then it just becomes second nature once again like PE4.

I saw someone posted somewhere saying "dont press R1 as much and dont keep running and running all the time" This helped me loads, i think thats what i needed to do - slow it down and work the ball around the pitch instead of constantly pressing x or square all the time to try and get the ball, hence comminting numerous fouls.

As for the fouls always being commited, well my theory on this is dont constantly keep pressing X and/or Square, bide your time for that perfect slide tackle or block, then get it and go!
Just marshall the opposition like in real life, try to push them outwide or make them make a pass that you will intercept. There's lots of ways to tackle and block but timing is key, i dont seem to give away no where near as many free kicks now.

Last thing, i think the fast and furious shooting is the best new twist to the game, when you hit that ball you know you've hit that ball!! And i like how you get a lot more volleys and overhead/side kicks.

One last thing, i must apologise for being a tight ass about the game when i didnt really give the game chance. i still think theres the odd thing like the commentry or the 'no crowd on wide view' that lets it down but these dont bother you at all once you're into it.
I'm relieved i didnt cave in and go and get fifa, my problem is i lack patience but with a little persaverence this game shines through like no other!
Peace peeps.

Just like most of the pes's it takes a bit of playing to fully capture the huge depth in the game. good thing you didnt go buy fifa, and well done for realising that pro evo will always be the best

yeah that's the big difference - passing and posession instead of crazy dribbling and long runs, learn it and you're home

dribbling in pes5 is weakened for purpose, so is loads of fatigue added in ML...and so on.

I had the same problem, dawg.

There were a number of ways where I attempted to adapt to the new playing engine quickly. Training, playing against the cp on one star, watching the cp play against each other, etc...

Watch a full 90 minute game and you will realise how realistic the game play really is. I don't understand why people, and I include myself, were expecting this new version to be played at 1,000,000 mph, players like Thomas Repka to have a world class first touch, and the ball to be hitting the back of the net 50 times a game.

It takes a while but when you finally get to grips with the playing engine you can fully appreciate where Shingo 'Seabass' Takatsuka is coming from.

I've been dplaying PES5 since Saturday and I'm learning new things every day. This usually happens for the first few months with a new PES installment which makes it so good.

Football isn't really that fast anymore teams now play the ball around waiting for openings and unmarked players this is what there trying to bring into pro evo 5.
I found it hard at first (27 fouls in one match) because was just running after the oppsition trying to get the ball off them but now I wait until they mess up or I cut a pass out.

Hey elastic,
I did read your previous thread, and, although i haven't played the game yet, i feel very encouraged to do so now having realised how much of a challenge this game is, and even more so now that you yourself are enjoying it.

can't wait to get my hands on this gem.

Exactly right. It was about a time for you to realise that your previous treads were unnecessary, but it's all good that you finally know what you are doing.

Consider this also, try guarding the space, rather than a man itself in order to defend better without fouls. That's what computer does too if you pay attention. The key is to step on the ball, build up a play, think and pass the ball. And, yes, be patient :)

I read in one of the "crappy" reviews (where PES5 got only 78%) that their main complaint is how defence stays back and does not attack you until you reach the box. Well, "HELLO!, anybody home?" Looks like those people never watch real football...
That's why there are not too many one-on-ones anymore, no ridiculous lob shots from PES4, stupid reactions from a keeper etc...

I just realised today how realistic is when you "catch a keeper on the wrong foot" and he can't reweight his body in order to make a save, hence just watches the ball go in. Brilliant. The ball in PES5 is absolutely amazing. I like how you can kick the ball straight from opponents feet, pretty much.

Anyways,

good on you buddy, keep it coming.

See you "fools" online!

I told you so in your thread already that you should play more and change your way of play by not pressing does buttons all the time!! good that you listen...

but i'm not here for my credit... Good for you and that you still enjoy the game!!

it always takes time too get used to the new gameplay, but sure right now in PES5 it never been that hard before!!

I've been telling my friends to watch Serie A games and just try to copy the style. It would definitely work in PES5 because it is so damn realistic.
