Ok i created this a while ago with-in a thread in general discussion so i decided to put it in the right place for ppl to see, I'm not claiming to be no expert but all of you who are hopeless at free-kicks this may help.

Free-Kick Controls

:x: - Pass (This is just used to pass the ball from the direction the pass is aimed)

:circle: - Long Ball (Used to produce an air ball which is usefull for the free-kicks out of shooting range)

:triangle: - Through Ball (Same as pass except plays the ball into the stride of player aimed at)

:square: - Shoot (This is the most important button, Holding down this button generates the power for the shot. The more power the higher and faster it goes)

:R1: - Low Trajectory (makes the ball go faster than normal (as in pressing nothing), as well as lower.

:R2: - High Trajectory (makes it go slower than normal, as well as higher.)

Left Arrow - Aiming/Left Curl (Used to move and position your player and also holding this button down after the shot is powered adds curl to the ball)

Right Arrow - Aiming/Right Curl (Oposite of Left)

Up Arrow - Power (Hold this button when taking a free-kick to do a fast shot from further away, using this at close range will more or less hit the wall)

Down Arrow - Lob (This will make the ball go slow but high and over the wall this is recommended for very close range free-kicks)

General Free-Kick Tips

1.How far away do i shoot from?
I do not judge distance by the meters (e.g 20-25m) i judged it on the size of the wall and the angle..I find that you can score if there is a four man wall most times and maybe everynow and again with a 3..(the smaller the wall the further away)

2.Curling the ball and posistions of free-kicks
Right footed players are better shooting from the left side and vice versa (if a player is right footed and shoots on the right side with an in swinging kick (right to left) the ball is harder to get in cos u hav to curl it in at the last minute)..I also find using the opposite curl (the one where u do in effect and outside of the foot)...e.g shooting with beckham and keeping your finger on right to curl it instead of left has no effect.

3.What buttons do i press when taking the kick?
When u are outside of the box (usualy a 5 man wall) keep your finger on 'back' This makes the free-kick go higher and slower which enables u to get it over the wall, When you are in a four man wall posistion press forward to get the power on the kick so it has more chance of going in.

4.Where do i aim the Kick?
Remember to aim your kicks between the player in the wall (the gaps between the heads)

5.How much power do i need?
Ok now onto power.,..When shooting from a four man wall or 5 man wall posiston-I get the power to just over half way (hitting it dead on half way usualy hits the wall) and when u are in a 5 man wall posistion half-way will be ok..

6.Dipping the Ball
Now dip..I ALWAYS keep my finger on :R1: to dip the ball, i never use to higher it as it could go to high and over the bar..At least by dipping it it will almost gurantee to be on target.

Ok those are my tips and below is how to score a free-kick with Beckham.

Free Kick-four man wall-18-30m -left hand side of penalty area

1.Start by keeping your finger on :R1: and keep it held
2.Posistion the aim just next to the legs of the first man in the wall (in the gap) on the right.
3.now keep your finger on up and hold down :square: until just over half-way
4. let go and keep your finger on left to curl it onto the top right corner (keepers right)

You can use this to score from any posistions but by adusting power and aim depending on what side or angle u are at.

Please note the above are only tips, you will obvioulsy need to practise these and change depending on the players you use.

Hope this was of sum use, It took me frickin ages. :)

Cheers Giggsy. Can you explain point 6 better. I don't understand which button causes teh dipping

Up makes the shot go faster but has more chance of hitting the wall, and back makes it go high over the wall but has not much power.

As far as i know it (according to the book) R1 = low trajectory and R2=High trajectory, these are diffrent from up and down, I just try and keep my finger on R1 whenever i get a free-kick to make sure. :)

....I'm a little confused. At the start of your guide you said that you shouldn't use the R1 button when you are close to the net, but then later in the post you said that you ALWAYS use the R1 button??? So, which is it? And do you ever use the R2 button instead of the R1?

I've been playing WE for about a year now and I think I've scored exactly one friggen free kick in my entire career....so I obvioulsy need lots of help in this department.

No i think you are confused, I said not to press 'UP' when close to the net keeping your finger on R1 will not do any harm no matter where you shoot from. :)

Great guide Giggsy m8 :)
I couldn't have written it better meself :)
But I think at the end of point 2 ur making a slight mistake.
If u try to "right-curl" with Becks or any right footed player (who has a high curling attribute ofcourse) there will be be some effect. Maybe not the same as when u "left-curl" but still there will be some.
I almost scored once with Becks I think from completely on the right side of the goal by applying the "right-curl". The ball just hit the bar :)
I also think that players which have the "outside" special skill star should be better in applying this kind of curl.
What do u think?
Good job once again m8 :)
Cheers!

Yeah i only scored those on pes2, But i find it doesn't feel as good when doing that, But yeah you can still score from those:) But i wish when u did the outside of the foot free-kicks the players would actualy look they are are doing with the outside of the foot rather than doing the same animation every time.

Yeah that would look great.
Have u noticed that Carlos DOESN'T have the outside special skill star
Unbelievable ain't it?
I think he doesn't at least.

thanks, but when you say left curl, does that mean )?

meaning the ball is curling TOWARD left. it'd be great if you cleared that up thanks
