3-4-3, with either 2WF's(if you can find enough of them to have 2 subs each in replacement for tired players) and 1CF. or 2SS and 1 CF. Both on either side of the CF. I've tried 3 CFs in a row, but they dont seem to work as well.

With the 4 in the middle i like 1dmf, 1lmf, 1 rmf and 1amf in a diamond with the 3 at the back as CB's pushed up to as far as they can. It's about working out the offensive and defensive arrows as to keep a steady network of passing up the pitch. Too many forward arrows and either not enough defensive arrows or TOO many defensive arrows will leave gaps in the pitch. but if you get the arrows right you'll just have 2 or 3 passes from your goalie to either your SMFs or AMF, then you've got 3 through ball options straight away. Normally a gap appears in one part of their defense which allows you to slip a ball through.

I find playing the balls diagonally from one side of the pitch to the other herralds the best results. (as those overhit passes that go through JUST to the goalie are less frequent). So if you can collect the ball with a LMF, look across to your right sided support striker, or WF and try holding Up+Triangle (if kicking right to left) and they should slot it through nice enough to take it on a sprint and get a shot away before you're closed down. Also remember as a simple shooting 101 rule. Use R2 whilst shooting alot more than you'd think would be necceassry, especially if you just want to put the goals away. Without R2 outside the box, you'll end up hitting half of them just wide or straight at the keeper, with R2 you have like an 80%* chance of scoring, rather than a 50%* chance.

*%ages aren't factual, but just observation. The Pebl is not waterproof.

4-3-3 is more balanced defence, good for counter attack but you'll have a hard time controlling the midfield.

Formations don't matter too much if u have good players and are skillful enough to use them to their potential. I always stick with default formations and a defensive formation in the change strategies which I rarely use. Whether its 4-3-3, 4-5-1, 4-4-2, I'll still do 2.5-3 goals per game average on 10min 5/6*

1st u need a quality, consistent striker like RVN, Henry, Shevchenko, Trezeguet. Notice they all have red shooting, consistency 5+, decent mentality, and 2 have 1v1 scoring. No Eto'o won't cut it, his mentality is low so he idles a lot and he misses lots n lots of chances just like in real life

Then u need some quality support like Rooney, Ronaldinho, Kaka, Zidane, Nedved, Scholes, Lampard. They all have good passing and wicked shooting.

Now here's what u do. Give the ball to ur support, dribble, dribble some more, pass the ball to ur striker, shoot, score. Very simple

I use 3-1-2-2-2

--3--3--3-- 3 Strong CTB
-----1----- DMF tall(win balls) strong
---2---2--- 2 strong CMF who are capible of getting forward and scoring aswell as playmaking (lampard, Gerrard)
--2-----2-- (AMF) PLay a right footed player on the left who has a powerfull shot, vander made, Rooney. So you can come inside and curl them in. Play either a left footed player such as recoba, rivaldo, or giggs or play a player with two good feet (ronaldinhio, ronaldo)
---2--2---- Play a fast player on the right side this is so he can run at the defence and escape the offside trap to be 1 on 1 (bellamy, Henry, Forlan), Play a strong goal scorer on the left eg shevchenko, ronaldo, Torreres and maybe Kliuvert)

I think this should help i score about 150 goals per season and i play on 5 stars. I have to say that it aint that good for defence but attaking wise its awsome. I concede about 10-15 per season, if u dont mind conceeding that many then i suggest u use it.

3-3-1-3 without a question of doubt is the best formation for scoring goals

the trick is to make a 2nd formation which morphs into a 5-4-1 to retain possesion and defend when under pressure

This may sound stupid, and u may think u do this all the time but...u don't!
Seriously just concentrate on keeping the ball, play 4-4-2
1 Cf, 1 as far to the corner as can be,this makes him always available for a pass if u get stuck. SO u can always just L1+triangle it to him.
Play a diamond, in the midfield and keep it really tight, like really central, and then, when actually playing:....
...... Start at the back, 5 passes should be enough there, then work forward and keep passing, and rememebr this rule : U MUST STAY IN THEIR HALF
Now just try and do 30 passes, and in that time u should have carved out a great shoooting oppurtunity and u will score :D
Make sure u concetrate on passing and it will work
10-3 and 7-1 victories over Barca and Bayern Muchen show it off

its all too easy showing the shape of our team but wot about when it comes down to attacking arrows and the movement of players of the ball.or do you simply keep it all balanced out.

If you have quality Team with good players you can risk it by using 4-3-3 where 2 CBs and 2 SBs and 1 DM and 2 OMFS and 2 WGs and 1 CF......but my self i use 4-3-1-2 where 2 CBs and 2 SBs and 1 DMF 1 CMF 1 LMF then 1 OMF then 1 WG then 1 CF..

I play a 4,4,2 diamond and used to have trouble scorin as i alwahys just tried to sprint straight forward and always play through balls. After changing a few of my players around so i have different strenghs i now keep the ball until i have room to switch the play and try to get a ball into the box. And now i normaly score over 2 goals a game, my best is on 4* 9-1 as Arsenal versus PSV.
p.S: Always play the counter attack aggresivly as it can get you plenty of goals in the 4,4,2 diamond, especially if you have quick players!
