Goalkeeper Glitch

This was present on PES2008 too, but I haven't seen any mention of this on here.

If the ball is obviously going to the keeper before your player, you can slide for it, and the keeper will dive as if to block the shot - which is alright if your player slides in and just gets a touch to the ball and therefore making a shot. But the keeper still dives/falls over if you slide from anywhere - even outside the box or whatever, which is irritating (but it's still something I do, because the keeper's reactions are funny).

ive also noticed that when you pass back to the keeper he will occasionally slide towards the ball to clear it rather than staying on his feet and booting it up the park.this happened to me a few times against my mate and the ball landed right at his feet,and since my keeper was still on the ground, he just tapped it in.damn annoying i tell u.:shocking:

^ yeah that happened a couple times to me. the keeper would come and slide and completely miss the ball.

there is only one thing u can do instead of clearing it with long pass button, clear with shoot button... sometimes it lacks distance...but it is far better than missing the ball totally inside the box

Yeah, that's also happened to me. I also conceded a bizarre goal in similar circumstances - where I had a defender under pressure, so I pressed X (PS3) to hit it back to the keeper, but instead, he slid and just prodded it to the keeper, who instead of kicking it clear, dived and blocked it like it was a shot (a very very slow shot) and the attacker got in there and had an easy goal.

Yup it sux... Make sure he touches it at least one time before boosting up the bar...

everytime i have a penalty i just shoot down the middle cos the keeper always dives. its happened every single time and ive had a lot of penalties!

I do that too - even if the keeper saves, it's an easier rebound than if he's saved it if you'd gone to the side.

But in real-life, this actually happens. I remember reading a report on it - keepers prefer to dive, because if they stay still and the opponent scores, the fans think they're not trying.


Anyway, I have a new glitch to grumble about.

This has only happened when taking free kicks with Chris Brunt - don't know if this only happens with players with a Roberto Carlos run up, or to lefties, or just to Brunt, whatever - but when he runs up, and I've tried inside food curl - ie it goes to the left then swerves to the right, always he, for some reason, he shoots with his right foot - and the shot is a bit disappointing. I don't think it's a left footed problem - as I now make Jaric take free kicks where I want that kind of curl.

Another reason why keepers annoy me on this PES - the long shot where it arcs over the keeper has all but gone, with keepers retreating to their 6yard line as soon as you're in the other half. Obviously this is better than on all previous PESs where you could score about 10 goals like this a season.

What I reckon PES needs is more difference in keepers. No matter who you have in goal on any PES; Cech, Reina, Buffon, Gomes, Neville, they are gonna stand in exactly the same position at any given time - you should either have a stat for goalkeeper position, or some random generator, so basically sometimes if you are eagle-eyed, you can fire over the keeper, who may be occupying a bad position (Steve Harper vs Liverpool for example).
