They only give them numbers if they represent a significant change in the series. Vice City and San Andreas were more like add-on packs, so they just had different subtitles. GTA4 should represent a bigger change in the series.

That could well be true.

I can hardly wait, all the GTA's have been class since the first game

GTA III was a shocking game when it came out, probably my favourite of the lot, but I hated the way that you couldnt swim. Ill eagerly be waiting for the 4th, has anyone screenshots, no?

Now that it's on the next gen machines, hopefully we can have missions in England and the US. It'd be great if you had missions in Liverpool, London, up north and Scotland and then you can get on a plane to LA or some shit.

Online play with 32+ people is a must though, hopefully free roam where you can start gangs and pimp your ride.

You would think so. But;

GTA I (PS1), GTA II (PS1), GTA III (PS2).

Then there is GTA: London (PS1), GTA: Vice City (PS2), GTA: San Andreas (PS2).

So they haven't officially called one of them GTA IV, that might be the reason behind it.

Don't forget about Liberty City Stories. :erm:

From what I've heard, GTA4 is supposed to be set in 2007 which makes sense considering that GTA3 was set in 2001, Vice City was set in 1984/85, San Andreas was set in 1992 and Liberty City Stories was set in 1998/99.

There's no link to where you can pre-order it though. The financial problems and huge criticism of Take 2 Interactive will come into play with when they'll allow pre-orders.

I hate it when they tell you that the game is going to be released over a year from now. Just gets me angry. They can wait till about January, or February and say that the game is getting released later this year.

Bollocks! another year to wait , usually theres a GTA every year or 2 years and its released around September/October...coz Vice City was released in October and San Andreas in September

Well if you haven't played it on the PS2 then you could get GTA: Liberty City Stories on the PS2, out 23rd of June. That could maybe slightly help the wait.

Vice City Stories is also coming out on the PSP in the next few months probably followed by a PS2 release a few months after that (like with Liberty City Stories).

I am eagerly awaiting the release of GTA: IV, I am a massive fan of the series and this one is going to be the best of them all. Especially with the PS3 graphics.
