Half Life 2 thread

Hey, I thought I'd post up a thread, on probably one of my most anticapated games this year. The game is set to release on the 16th November, well that's what I've read. I have picked out some decent trailers, for you to feest your eyes on the incredible graphics and futurism.
Here are plenty of trailers, picked out from a top notch game trailer site:

Please share your opinions on what you think the game will be like.

Scarface

The World Is Yours
It should end up being one of the greatest games of all time, after the masterpiece that was Half Life.
There are so many good games being released at the moment (Halo 2, Football Manager 2005, Half Life 2, Mortal Kombat: Deception to name a few) that i don't know where i can find all the money! November 16th is the release date for PC then i take it~? Any idea when it is scheduled for release on the Xbox?

Yep, shame the X-Box release is so far away. I'd get it for the PC only I can't imagine that it would work very well on my computer.

Ah well theres games-a-plenty that I want to get in the meantime, and they won't be all at once.

Yeah, the graphics are immense, apparently there are around 70 different muscles in the face, and the pupils shrink/expand according to the light.

It will run on old computers. Depending on the video card it will run in different direct x modes so the graphics wont look as nice but it will run. The main thing you have to worry about is your processor. What are your specs?

I got it through the post this morning, been playing it since. So far brilliant :D. It's a shame I have to go to work tonight.

I'm so happy :)

Bish, you are so lucky to have the game! Could you update me on what the 'suck and blast' weapon is like - being able to magnetise objects, then blasting them at enemies.

On another note, CS:Source blows. Same weapons, same maps, same shittery.

Yeah that's true. That's just because it's the same old CS, just using the engine from HL2.

I guess what I really meant was "bring on DoD 2". But that, and CS 2, are a while away yet I think.

Yeah, Day of Defeat has always been up to excellent standards, and its sequal will almost certainly rival the likes of Half Life 2 and CS2.....

Haven't got all that far into it, only about an hour or so. But you can just pick things up with your arms like barrels, boxes etc and throw them at people. It's got the same phsyics engine as Psi-Ops (Havok Engine) so everything moves around like everything should. I expect the gravity gun would be exactly the same as the Telekinesis off Psi-Ops.

Luckily I pre-ordered HL2 from GAME.net, a few weeks ago, and got it on release date all for £30 :)

Considering it uses the exact same engine, of course it will. Like any online game it depends on who you play with, but DoD seems to lack the whiney kids CS has for the most part, and it comes down to personal preference for the setting of the game.

Css is not cs2, what did you expect? The whole point of making it and hls was to see how easy it would be to port games to the source engine.

Honestly, I thought my specs would be stretched by HL2. I don't know just how much you can reduce the level of detail or resolution, but I'd still say an upgrade is in order. I realise computer hardware doesn't come cheap, nor do I know your financial situation, but a new graphics card, and more RAM are needed quite badly, and the processor could do with an upgrade too. Hard drive space depends really on how much stuff you have on your comp, but 37GB isn't too bad.
