Hey.

I'm playing ML on Normal right now (I know, I know... NORMAL!!! THIS GUY HAS TO SUCK!), and I was just wondering about a few minor things with my/the game that slightly annoys me. So if anyone can help me out on these I would be gratefull.

- When I pass to a player he just seems to stand and wait for the ball, and I'm not able to move the ball with the player. Am I supposed to press any other button than the movement buttons to manage this?

- The opposing team manage to run through my defensive line as easy as pie, and they usually just deflect of my defenders' tacles. How do I stop them?

- The opposing team get way more free kicks on X tackles than I get from equal tackles from them. How do I get more free kicks and avoid as many against me?

- I'm using the default team now, but some of the same stuff happened when I played on easy with a über-boosted team...

yo, dont worry bout normal level!!! ok 1) i find if u move toward the passer the reciving player moves for it, not sure if that is correct but it seems to work. 2) try a new formation, or moving players about. may be a defencive midfilder or two could help. 3) stand off, wait till they give u a clear chance of a clean takle, also if you keep pressing players will loss there positions which could be why the can run thought the center. to get more free kick try a fenit or just running about the will get frustrated and make a rash challange. hope it helps, ask if your dont under stand, i have a problem with writing things that make sence. to much time on pes2. lol

I don't think that is a set move and you did it by luck maybe.

Like someone else who ran onto a high pass and got past the defender by flicking the ball over himself with the ball behind him using his heel. That doesn't make too much sense either, does it?!

Basically, once you know what these slight problems are, you can prevent them happening by anticipating.

To make a receiving player move when the ball is in the air, hold R2 and move the directions. And at other times you can try pressing (or tapping) both R1+R2 to give you free movement. This move is useful for when the ball is about to go off for a throw or corner so you can stop your player from touching it.

to flick the nall over the players ahead all u have to do is soon as the ball hits the players chest or knee, simply press the opposite direction u r facing and it will flick it over the defenders head. if u want to volley it when u flick it over, just press square after the direction!!

Egophobia - you just gota give the game time. don't get downhearted - i remember when i first played the game i was shít and had problems with everything you mentioned, but it's a complex game and you can't just master it in 5 seconds. dont be tempted to put the level down, keep it on normal - i started off on normal and even tho i cudnt play or score for sh1t . i picked stuff up in every game. hit the training pitch! work on some crosses, corners, practice free kicks cos it pays off! i couldnt score a free kick for about a month when i first got the game, but it feels damn good when you finally nail it.

also spend a bit of time in the umbro training thing. you can pick up some good skills and control in there, especially the free kick drill.
