Headers/Crosses

That's nonsense the heading was good in 2011. The only problem with it that year was crosses were over hit if you didn't press the opposite direction when crossing.
This year is just a shambles played about 10games with the default master league team on superstar and getting lots of crosses in every match but you get beaten on nearly every cross the movement from the forward and the actual crossing is an embarrassment.

Has anyone seen someone score online from a cross?

Dude, were we playing the same game? i had SEVERAL times happen when i would head in at less than 3 feet, and ball would go to THE SIDELINES or worse...once a diving header that went BACK! it happened so often i gave up on air strikes >.<

I used to score headers for fun with Toni and Brandao in 2011.

I have on the odd rare occasion. and for some reason my mate who I play against (online) tends to score quite a few despite not really trying them that often.

I have also just being playing online against some little rat who had someway of having the loading screen 'pause' for 5 minutes. Knowing what his plan was (when someone chooses Barca or Real as 1st choice I immediately suspect underhand dealings are afoot), I just sat and patiently waited....when the game recovered he was off from the kick off (obvioulsy hoping that I would either be afk or have tunred the game off awarding him a 3-0 win). The final result was 4-2 him. Every single one of his goals game from a sort of low cross from the touchline which would swing out to about the 6 yard box at which point one of his Barca superstars would smash home an open goal. This was all he tried and everytime he got through, it pretty much meant a goal for him. After he went up 3-2, he proceeded to simply knock the ball about his defence. I eventually started just flying into him trying my best to foul him, at which point with me foolishly commiting my players he managed to get up the touchline, low cross, and yet another goal.

When everyone figures out how to score this 'set' goal PES 2013 is finished.

Hopefully the low cross isn't as affective as it was in PES2011.

Not ventured online but maybe it's easier to score from headers online because the defending isn't as tight because the game is set to regular. Well, in previous years it always has been.
I was watching a video and came across the free-kick glitch where you just let the time run down and the A.I takes it for you and nearly always score. What the hell were they thinking putting that in?

There's clearly a big problem with the heading though because even the A.I on superstar struggle to head it and majority of the time do a feeble loopy header. The loopy headers seem to be exactly the same all the time, same height and power.

Actually its a lot harder to score online and/or when playing human opposition. You will have obvioulsy noticed that the defenders are strongly favoured by game engine for being in right position to clear crossed balls? combine this with a human thumb spamming the button to head clear and you have almost no chance.

And yeah, even times when the ball lands straight on my attackers head more often than not it will bounce of his head diagnoally backwards or something equally shit and improbable.

The heading is badly broken and it aint getting fixed until PES 2014.

Soooo, I figured it out.

Its double tap and back on the joystick when your about strike the ball. Goes on target all the time and your player automatically finds space for successful headers.I have scored quite a few that way. Try it out guys.

Anticipation is the key, trying to move your player ahead of the defender.

In head to head challenges (players are close), defense always wins.

For the past few years I've been scoring headers without holding any direction, only pressing the shoot button. It's the same this year so I haven't been having too much trouble. I find that as soon as I hold a direction then for some reason it completely messes with the player's positioning and no matter how good he is at heading and jumping, 9/10 he'll end up in front of the ball instead of behind it which ends up in either a floaty header or really wide of the mark. I just leave the positioning and direction to the AI. Really lame I know but it works.

This year for the regular crosses and corners you have to put more power into them by holding the shot button longer. The double tap will give you much more success though, especially if you have shorter players like Chicharito, plus the taller players can volley it in. Start working on your early crosses as well. These are the most dangerous and will give you the most success, just like in the real world. When you're bursting down the sidelines, cross it a few yards before you reach the box. Triple tap is the best, followed by double. You'd be surprised how realistic it all plays out, especially the curl you can achieve and how your forwards try to get on the end of them.

I dont think there is anything 'broken' with the headers as such, I just think that Konami have had to nerf them on purpose to disguise other short-fallings in the AI. I like the way in which thier crossing/heading is going, but as things stand in PES 2013, it is in a very incomplete state.

They can certainly be scored and they certainly can fly in like bullets, but as you suggest, when you attempt to score from a header from a crossed ball, the chances of anything good coming from it are very low indeed, which does not reflect the real game at all. Instead, you are better advised to hold up the ball (allowing all opposition to get back and defend) and try and weave your way into box and create a shooting opportunity that way, which again, does not reflect the real game at all.
this is the problem, not reflecting the real game at all, plus frantic penalty area action is never seen, since the tendency to shoot directly when u get the ball, which also doesn't reflect real life situations!!! and this is affecting my appeal for the game, fifa 12 has those kind of situations , more time on the ball either to pass or shoot or be creative inside the box...

Oh my god...here we go again.

Everytime I read someones 'method' for the crossing/heading aspect of the game, I try it out on single player offline, trick myself into thinking it kind of works, then go online with it and get absolutley hosed on due to me wasting all my attacks on a stupid crossing/heading system which is blatantly broken, whilst my opponent continues to spam long through balls for 1-1 chances aplenty.

But I guess I wont be able to help giving your method a try as I want so badly for the crossing to be an effective part of the game. I watch too much real football for the situation to be otherwise.

I honestly think we are not playing the same games. This years PES offers ultra frantic action in and around the penalty area which FIFA simply doesn't. FIFA has always been weak in the final third, with the 'frantic' action in the final third occurring at the same pace as stroking the ball about in midfield.
