Headers/Crosses

long dumb post

Heading isn't broke, it's toned down to avoid the major issue that has been in footy games since they became somewhat decent.

I'd say it would be better to reduce accuracy on very long crosses and passes on a general level, but this is the next best thing. I score many goals on headers by the way, the trick is to aim for the unmarked guy, it's not fucking rocket science...

In real football, only the crappy teams use a cross when all the attackers are marked, unless the team have a 200+cm guy to aim for or there is massive movement in the box... now the latter hardly ever happens in PES, so you should stick to crosses when your opposite side winger is free on the back post.

I'd also add that I would call heading much more "broke" if you could just whack it in there and hope for your striker to beat the defenders in a duel every once in a while, like usual with these games.

Fanboi idiot defending PES as though it was his granny who was being insulted.

If you cant see that the heading is broke. That is right broke! Not nerfed, but fucking broke! Then you are obviously a total fan boi retard and completely incapable of holding any objective opinions on the game.

I am a huge fan of PES 2013, but to say the heading isn't BROKE!?....cmon ffs.

I'm a fucking idiot who don't understand half of the words that are coming out of my mouth.

You got that one spot on!

Seriously, grow the fuck up.

You clearly haven't read most of my posts regarding PES in general. I'm not a huge fan of PES2013, and if anything is broke, it isn't heading but the "dynamic difficulty". I'll admit that I was smitten instantly by the game, and while I still enjoy the gameplay, the game modes are weak and poorly designed in this game. Overall, I've stopped playing the game because the dynamic difficulty setting seems to be without limits of any sensible proportion***. I think you approach by repeating the same mistakes over and over and wonder why the fuck the game won't allow you to head straight into the goal, while more sensible people realize at some point that they must be doing something wrong and change their approach. I am saying that because once I stopped sending mindless crosses into the box, I started to score quite many goals on headers and volleys from crosses, but if that's too hard for you to manage, maybe it's YOU that is broken.

*** By that I mean that if you are really good at this game, the game becomes harder, and harder, and harder until it resembles a bunch of amateur players who has trouble moving (your team) versus a team of world athletes on steroids and amphetamines (any given opponent) that plays as Barcelona.

If you're poor-decent in this game, you will have the best gaming experience.

Tone it done folks. No reason why you can't have a civilised discussion without resorting to insults.

###just to clarify###

Are you talking about a without direction cross (only double tap cross)?
when I press the direction of the header? Before or after i tap squadre button?

I am only crossing once there is a free player in the area, or several on their way into the area and there is a mess in the defense.

I don't use the lofted cross much, I double or triple press for the most part and either curling it behind the defense, or 30 degrees out towards the penalty mark. Long slow crosses hardly ever give results in PES, as in real life.

I don't play offline v CPU.

I play online or play offline v against a mate.

The fact is, the heading system has not been completed. Yes, Konami are aiming for more realism in that it is no longer possible to put mindless balls into the box and expect them to result in goals (having said that, have you tried doing it with C.Ronaldo?). However, the system that they are building is not yet complete. I have seen too many examples of what in real life would be easy headers (even for me if I was playing) resulting in some wild and inappropriate animation such as the attacker taking a kung-fu kick at the ball instead of simply letting the ball bounce of his head into empty goal. In the current state of the game, the only time a header will work from a cross will be if the player is running on towards the cross and is under no pressure. The header will very often be some kind of diving header as well. Furthermore, the AI conspires to make sure that the striker mostly will not make dashes into danger zone from which a header would be likely scored. Whenever you see such intentional AI nerfs as this, you know the devs are trying to patch/cover up some failing (such as the retarded balloon shooting in PES 2012 covering up the broken goalkeeper AI)

All of the above and countless more examples I could think of, strongly indicate that the heading/crossing in the game is not in the shape that it would be had the devs had more time with it.

Heading;
You can use the pass button to safely head in those easy punts. Like I said, it's all about learning what works and what does not.

Player Runs;
If your strikers don't make proper runs, try change some sliders and also the visual formation. It takes a while, but you will discover that those things matter in getting a team to work, and start making proper runs. Use Klashman's Barcelona tactic as a starting point, and work your way from there.

I'm not saying that everything is fine and dandy, I am just pointing out that there are far better options available than whining your guts out in a forum. Counter measures that will give you a better experience rather than fueling your fading interest to the game.
