When playing vs COM or Friend, what exactly does the condition determine?

I noticed whilst just playing COM and both teams on Excellent condition, players seems faster and more responsive, this seems self expanatory.

But some games why do i get a feeling that the AI controls the outcome of a game? It seems destined [so to speak] that its gonna be a draw or head to penalties?

I played a friend lastnite 3 games and both teams were excellent condition, i were Man Utd, he was Arsenal:

1st game i won 4-0 everything went my way
2nd game he won 4-0 everything went against me from the off.
3rd game a 2-2 draw, i won [just] on penalties.

Now im not so bothered about the last game but the first 2 games seemed like the AI just decided i will win the first and then vice versa for the second and it seemed forced and very obvious.

I understand that teams have good days and bad days but this was shocking. Is there a setting i am missing or anything anyone can suggest to make it more like anything can happen, rather than AI controlled?

While I won't proclaim that these are 100% correct, since it's from PES5, it will still give you an idea of what it means.

Red form arrow can turn a mediocre player into Maradona-lite for a game or two in other words.

Another conditioning question but not related -

I played with Man Utd in the Champs League, it's game 4 (of 6) in the group stage and the majority of my players are either red or green. However after that game the ENTIRE squad was blue or purple - even those that didn't play. How can that be possible when most of the squad didn't even make the bench?

Same has happened to me a few times, but only when playing away...

Well I appreciate that the long trip to Glasgow might take a while but still....
