Help! Can't get a game on Xbox Live

Hi all,
I may be being a complete dummy here, but I'm having real trouble getting a game over Xbox Live. I'm using a 360 and PES5. I've just sat for 45 minutes, challenging every player who comes up on an Optimatch search, and I instantly get "The challenge was not accepted."

OK, so they don't want to play me - that's fine. I just don't think they even see the challenge -it's too quick. I've also left my 360 running with me waiting for a challenger for 30 minutes, and I've seen none.

Is this a known issue? I used to have no problems at all with it - could get a game whenever I felt like playing. Are my network settings blocking some players somehow? Any ideas would be gratefully received!

You don't have that many disconnects to your name, do you? And what league are you in? If you're at the bottom, a person may opt to not play you because they may wanna play someone who's at or is near the top (has a lot of points on offer). Those are 2 reasons that I can think of. However, saying all that, there are usually always a lot of people up for a challenge no matter what.
