Help Defeating Through Balls

I am having a hard time beating the Bales and C.Ronaldos constantly beating my defense with through balls. I know they are going to pass through balls but it feels like there is nothing i can do.

I would love the option to tell my defense to stay 4-5 meters in front of these players as to stop through balls.

Any hints?

Maybe try using the D-Pad to manually move your back line towards your own goal about a second or two before the ball is played...

Looks like the only way to have a chance is using the dpad.

As for containment, think its wide.

Are you on Ps4?

If so I don't mind you adding me on psn and we can have a few games and I'll help you tighten your defense

Thanks for the help dude, unfortunately im on the PC.

However, good news, before every match I put mark settings assigned and players defend much better.

Yes, I usually do it this way:
- CB marks CF
- DMF marks AMF
- DMF marks SS
- LB and RB mark RWF and LWF

I don't mark LMF, RMF or CMF.

Don't mark SS with CB.
Don't assign 2 CB to 1 CF.

If they have a very dangerous CF I double-mark him with CB and DMF (leaving 1 CB free).

Defensive line at 3 or 4. Conservative pressing. Tight defence pushing wide (or wide pushing in if they have LWF and RWF). All-out defence. Defend with many, attack with medium. Fluid formation with midfielders and attackers dropping back when out of possession.

I find these the best settings but if they lower team spirit I stick with what keeps team spirit high and slowly ease the team into these settings in easy games or when I'm winning by 2 or more.
