Help me with Free Kicks and 1on1 situations on PES 2008

OK, so I have the game and I cant win any because I have 2 major problems:

1) How shall I act on 1on1 situations? Goalkeeper ALWAYS punches the ball away either with his arms or legs. I just dont know what to do and thats a strange problem. Should I use some kind of tricks or shooting technique?
2) Free kicks. I cant take ANY of them, and thats because I dont know what shooting power I should post. I mean, if I get it a bit low, ball literally ALWAYS bounces back of the players' wall. And if I get that power a bit deeper and get that green meter longer, ball just flies over the net. Free kicks in PES 2008 looks unreasonable and painly difficult for me. Does it all depend on shooting power? Is there some kind of technique or something?

1) i personally find a dummy helps here. When running towards the keeper 1-on-1 (on ps2) press square followed by x to take the ball past the keeper - if time right you always find yourself with an open goal
That's how i score a lot of goals !!

shooting towards the near post is likely to result in a goal in one on one situations with keepers worse than iker casillas, ie. response and goalkeeping ability is lower than 90. but good goalkeepers hardly concede that way, so i use tricks or try lobbing, or try sth else..

Try the shot feint for one-on-ones, square followed quickly by x or you could lob him...L1+ square (don't belt it, just tap it).

For free kicks, try the training! If you're around the 18 yard box you can aim just to the left or right of the wall away from goal (depending on where the wall is), hold up and hold square till EXACTLY halfway and then immediately Triangle. Should fly into top corner, but it may need some manual curl (just hold wherever your want it to go)

In 1 on 1 situations i usually hold the R2 button(ps2,) RT (xbox) to place it or else try and take it aroudn the keeper. Sometimes though you can just wack it one and it can parry right into the path of one of your players if you play the right formation.

As for free kicks i think it depends on the kicker. It all depends on what you want to go for power or accuracy. With the power if you have somebody like carlos i usually push y and hold RB OR R1 on ps2. This gives it alot of power. But again it also depends how colse you are the closer you are the less time you have to bring it back down. When in a close position its best to hold RT OR R2 as this goes for placement and gives it that little dink. I usually try this when on the very edge of the opponents box and give it alot of curl and it usually goes top corner or the goaly parrys it in as it is too wedged in the corner. Just a few techniques to practise, but if you get really stuck try and lay it off to a second kicker somebody like adriano and give it abit of welly.

Alright mate, i agreee with most of these, in one on ones, dummy all the way, u no the buttons wheress if you dont hve enough time go for the lob and as for free kicks

Im a king at free kicks now, go on training and stay there for about an hour haha.
I did that using Beckham wit England and now i score 3 out of 5 free kicks.
Start with a distance around 25-30 yard out, jus under half power and to the side as you power up.
Youll be unlucky if it dosent go in more often than not.

Thank you for your comments. My promblem with 1on1 situations was that i didnt hold shooting button long enaugh.

As for free kicks... I just lost my hope Im ever gonna score from there. Its impossible in this game. I tried everything and nothing works. I created player with all 99 ratings, and still, during hours of practise, i only hit the bar with my player 3 times (im not even talking about scoring). It just flies over the net or bounces back of the wall. No technique works. I tried to use that triangle thing (im playing on pc on my joystick, triangle means pass to the fornt, simillar to that regular pass, which is x) but still nothing really works.

I find the dummy or just rounding the keeper is the the most likely way to score, sometimes a lay off to a suppoting player if they're making a run alongside you. I do think this is where PES loses some balance though as you can score with these methods 70-90% of the time but shooting seems to drop to about 20% of the time.

1 on 1 situations happen too often so I suppose that's why they've made it difficult.

that or i tap r1 twice and go diagonal so he kicks the ball and runs to the keepers left or right and it should go past the keeper for an open goal tap in.

1on1 situations - I tend to slow down and wait for him to come and then lob.

Free kicks - Practice. I have a replay of Pirlo shooting a fk and scoring, and I'll post it up as soon as I know how.

Don't overcomplicate it, just slow down and when he comes simply tap it around him. I love running it into the net especially against my mates really pisses them off haha

yeh slow down works most of the time, but often enough the keeper gets his legs in the way.
