How can you tell a team's play style in BAL before transfering?

I've played with teams that slowly advance on offense and ones that do an almost fast break-style. I've played on teams that love crosses from the wings and ones that love through balls and lob passes. There are things I prefer to play, but don't know how you can tell what a prospective team's philosophy is.

You have to play with them to find out.

Before you transfer, ring the manager and ask him...or better still, get your agent to do it...

It is a problem I exit the BAL mode go to the exhibition mode and select the teams that are bidding for me and do a quick spectate match just to see how they gel.

It's a bit of a pain in PES 2009 I would like if you actually had an agent that could tell you the style, formation and and what the team expects of you. There is massive room for improvement on the BAL love this mode though.

when you get an offer from a team go and look at their team information. it will tell you what starting line up they play but you have to decipher for yourself who plays where etc... for example:

auxerre came in for me, i checked their team information and they had a cf and 2 WF in the starting 11 so i signed. if there's only 1 CF and a load of midfield then they probably play one up front, which i found to be absolute toilet

Yeah I was just joking about. Go to the Team Transfer place in BAL, I forget where it is...market data maybe. Check out their team. Obviously the latest signings will be last on the list but you can figure out their style from the first 11 players you see.
