Always cover the space by using a defender (press RT + A). Dont let the ball pass around when its in the midfield. 'Nip it in the bud'. You could also use your midfielders for that.

use the square to do the pressing with a team mate until u cover with your player the space in front of goal (cause of throw passes) and a second before the teammate is near the opponent change it and press x+r1

When my defenders are running they cnt keep up with the sttackers why is this and how do you challenge im on xbox

I don't know what question the other 2 read but anyway, The reason is because too many idiots wanted to speed up attackers they were continuously complaining that defenders were too quick that they were unrealistic so on and so on...What they don't seem to realise is that one player is moving with the football while the other does not have that concern so unless the attacker uses the superfast kick the ball ahead of themselves function (which has a much lower close control ability and can easily loose the ball) then they shoul not be as quick as the defender without the ball, but because of all the moaners knonami have now speeded up the forwards and as well made it so that if you misstime a tackle he will lunge for the ball and either almost come to a standstill and allow the attacker to waltz past or recieve a yellow card...and knonami said they had made tackling more effective and user friendly this year it was already a bit finicky last year, and what they have said for 2013 is frankly bs
sorry but other than defending deep and guaging the attacker and using double press, there isn't alot else I believe you can do

PES is all about positioning and keeping your shape. Just dont try to rush anything. Look defending as say, organizing. Just see that all the defenders and in their position. Dont drag them too far away, so that forwards would exploit the space created. Get used to defending by starting in lower difficulty. If you still feel forwards are running away with ball, try placing your defencive line deep. If needed have a defencive mid fielder in your gameplay to help out your defenders. You would absolutely love the game if you do small things correct rather than wanting to win the ball always and burst away and score. beleive me it feels leaps and bounds realistic than FIFA do( I play and enjoy FIFA too, but its arcady(bashers stay away)) .

Hope this helps..

I'm glad someone had the nuts to say this. I've always facepalmed over the past few years when people complained about the "catch-up bug," and now we see the effect of it being removed (not that it was a bug IMO).

Watching football matches it does happen that occasionally a really fast player will break away and nobody will be able to catch him, but not nearly as much as we have in PES 2013. Maybe it wasn't quite right in the past, but in my opinion it was better that way than it is now!

use B+A thats to call a second player to help you you out when the balls in the center(depends on what button configuration u use ) . force players to go to wings .cause thats what every one wants and then make sure you cover your wings . and not sprinting will help players to pick up balls wen people do through balls always try cover where he wants to pass and where he wants to run into, sounds complicated but its easy keep one player on his right and one player on his left . incase of playing a realy fast player just watch the player and start running b4 ur opponet presses the pass button in the direction you think the ball will land. n depending on ur ability to read the game this will keep out 88 % of through balls and overhead balls . when defending wing play press RT to stop ur player from running and cover the player in the box that way if he does a low cross which they always do ur player will just kick the ball away .

thx for agreeing, In my opinion the reason why you occasionally see a player completely break away is because he has broke the offside track absoloutley perfectly and full speed and the defenders realise that they cannot catch him and there either don't attempt to get back or only do it half heartedly, but this only happens rarely in PES 2013 it is an epedemic because players are basically taking advantage of the games inept ai mechanism and physics, it was indeed better in 2012 :)
