IT's all about player rating i believe, u wanna get it nice and high and consistantly.

TIP: Change your general settings to 5 minute matches while your training but make sure that's enough time for you to get a good stat for that squad match.
This makes it seem like the entire process of breaking into the 1st team goes by a little quicker.

Then when u break the 1st team go back to your general seetings and change the match time to whatever you would like.

As for what u want to do in the game to get a good stat I'm sure someone else will be able to help u with that a little better then I can, the obvious ones are: score goals, get assists, shots on target, and make your passes.

I think when I was playing as an AM the other thing that would help my stats was completing some "lead" passes.

Someone help the man out!

Yeah, try to complete passes - even if they're only 2 yard crap ones. Try not to lose the ball. Hold up the ball and release other players. If shooting - get your shots on target, even if they're straight at the 'keeper. Tackle, but dont foul - and defo try not get booked. I always start really strongly, by running after everything (within reason) tackling, passing, shooting etc, even if this means you're down to less than half stamina by end of 1st half. You van calm down a bit in the second half, but I find it seems to make your team play a bit better.

Gte high rating and you'll play as soon as possible. It'll take 2-4 training match. Depending on how you play. Scoring and assisting will help greatly.

I'm playing as a AMF, and find it quite easy to get high ratings. Make lots of passes, chip in with some goals and make yourself available to teamates to recieve the ball, the more touches of the ball you have, the better.
