The only things good about swap drive are:
A) It's cheap
B) It doesn't affect the warranty
But a modded machine doesn't require the tedious disc swapping every time you want to play a game; you just put it in and play - no fuss. Add to that other bonuses such as being able to play region-free DVDs, for me a modchip is far better. But it's subjective as to which option you would prefer. Whatever floats your boat.

You forgot about DVD Region X. It's basically used in the same way as Swap Magic except with Swap Magic, you have to open the disc tray without the PS2 knowing about it.
At least with DVD Region X, you can eject the tray like normal after the program has loaded and then load your region 1 (3, 4, 5 or 6) DVD just like you would with a modchip. And again, the use of this software doesn't void the warranty. :no:
