How to Shoot?

Here is a good question for you players who claim you know all about shooting.
If you read the Pro evo 6 instruction manual, it tells you that when you shoot you press Square for power....determining the height of the shot and the D-Pad for the direction of the shot.

So when you press the D-pad...does this mean that the shot will be made according to the direction the player is facing.eg. if he is facing 90degrees away from goal toward the right throw in line...does that mean pressing up will make him shoot towards the throw in line and left towards goal while right is toward the half way line

or do the D-Pad buttons mean the shot will be made according to positions on the goal mouth such as those used when taking a penalty. With left meaning towards the left post and right meaning the right post.

This is one of those questions that none of the so called experts will answer. I admit I dont know the answer but I am no expert.

Considering some people profess to know everything about this game and win every game 8-0 on the highest level they refuse to answer the most basic of questions. Probably because they cant.

If you are shooting from left to right when pressing the directional pad (ps2) towards the three oclock postion and then shoot - what effect does that have on your shots ? or if you push it backwards ie towards your own goal just after you shoot ?

Thats how I determined it worked. So if im kicking to the right of screen, and i press down and left, the ball will be directed into the bottom right section of the goal mouth.

Trouble with this is that my shots often go over the crossbar, so to stop this is always tap the shoot button when im having a shot. So another problem arises in that when i tap the shoot button i often dont press the d-pad in time to direct the ball either side of the keeper. Shooting is one of the worst things done in this game, which is bloody frustrating since when you make good opportunities to score the last thing you want is to see your star striker blaze the ball 10 feet over the crossbar.

I find it wierd that not a lot of people actually know this answer. But iv got a few ideas i would like u guys to try and perhaps we may figure out this for good. I believe that if we figure this out our minds will be at rest and we will increase our shot conversion avaerage.

1. If the D-pad means the positions on the goal, as when taking a penalty, then this might also suggest that accuracy is much higher when taking a shot from in front of the goal. So train shooting from in front of the goal...his would then make the Direction you press on the D-pad more easier to figure out since it would be similar to taking a penalty.

2. If you use the drive shot for maximum power, i reckon you will beat the less effective goalies on Pro evo, becaue they have terrible reaction times. This also means avoid the R2 control shot, just get max power eg. Victor Valdes

please post how you find this advice i would like to hear any new ideas from you as well

If you read the Pro evo 6 instruction manual, it tells you that when you shoot you press Square for power....determining the height of the shot and the D-Pad for the direction of the shot.

If you think three dimensionally the answer will present itself. If square controls hight and the D pad controls direction then in a game the only buttons on the d pad that matter are up and down.

Eg, playing left to right - pressing Low power and UP will direct the ball into the bottom left of the net. Pressing High Power and UP will direct the ball to the top left of the net.

I have found that dependent on how quickly you can aim the shot with the D pad determines how far the ball will go into the corner. Slowly will move the ball less into the corner than if done quickly.

Therefore medium power and a slow press UP on the D pad will result in a medium height shot to the left of the keeper.

All of the above is true for Down on the D pad.

However, there do seem to be exceptions to this rule - the analogue buttons seem to affect the behaviour of the shot. I find that a short stab at the button will produce a snapshot of fairly high power which is hard to direct whereas a more controlled press will produce a more controlled powerful shot.

Now I dont claim to know all there is about the shooting-this is just what I have found after playing Pro from the PS1 ISS days - and I am still learning.

Can anyone give me any help on placing shots, Henry style?

When I come in from an angle and try to place like Henry does in the opposite corner, 8 times out of 10 it goes wide, even when I press R2. But for most of the people I play online it's the total opposite.

Can anyone help?

Thanx KingSingh...iv found your words of wisdom very enlightning, but i also have a few tips i have gathered over my extensive play during the christmas break.

First...and easy way to shoot in Pro 6 is to curl the ball around the goal keeper. What you do is you face make sure your player is running perpendicular to the goal area just outside the box...ideal he must be level with one of the posts with his strongest leg towards the halfway line. Then you press Square to shoot while holding up and left or up and right depending where the goal is. The player then executes a curl shot.

Another thing i have discovered that will help many people is to avoid shootign altogether. In fact the most assured way to score in Pro 6 is to take it around the goal keeper.

Ill keep looking into shooting though.

Just shoot with your legs will do...XD

But seriously, most shots will usually go where you press on the D-pad...as for placing shots, R2 + Square is the way to go.

This question has already been asked and answered, its not the fact of not answering its down to not being able to explain it without showing the person. The last thread I seen about this had Diagrams which is easier to register whats being said. Hunt it Out.
