Note: Fanboys will become allergic if they post in this thread and possible die, you been warned.

I have now got Fifa 09 and I have just played the demo of pro evo and here is what I think so far.

Basically starting with the Fifa 09 game, I played it, brilliant gameplay but not very good graphics. See last year I had pes2008 and the audience was pretty realistic, 3Dish, in Fifa 09, from the audience front to back, its thin as paper.......HUH? Im worried that a strong wind will come and blow them all away and ruin the match.

Secondly the game faces in Fifa 09, like someone painted on the faces because the expressions do not change at all, even when they score, pretty dumb to be honest. Then I started reading all the comments on the pes 2009 demo, and think uh oh did I buy the wrong game.

Played the demo....I was really unimpressed, The moving capabilities is completely messed up, and the audience........***** that pes2008.... WHAT!? They dumber stuff down as well!!!!

Now I know a lot of you say, its gameplay first then graphics....well dont we want that full football experience, and with gameplay you need good graphics otherwise it can be slightly disappointing, deep down most of you know that.

Movement of player - Fifa wins by a margin.
AI reactions and movement - Im thinking Fifa wins but tbh I have not played much of the PES demo.
Graphics of Audience - Both really disappointing but pro evo wins.
Graphics of player - Pro evo wins but I wasnt unimpressed by both.
Football atmosphere - Fifa wins in my opinion, thing is you need those little extra bits like guard standing about and it just felt Fifa was better.
The Pitch Graphics and size - Undecided, both pretty good though.

Tips for both:
Audience:
Pro evo, if you going to use flags, make it realistic!
Fifa, come join the 3 dimension!
Plus both please make the graphics look smoother.

Gameplay:
Pro evo, dont restrict movement
Fifa, improve goalkeepers reaction so they can go for the ball before the players and avoid danger.

Football Atmosphere:
Both, have guards and technicians that actually move now and again, it will work wonders and try do a lot of audience profiles because they can easily be distinguished and make them 3d.

Billboards:
Pro evo, get any sponsors, any at all, having only a konami billboard nearly all the time, quite stupid tbh but did like the animation of them.

Tbh I think Konami and EA should both hang their heads in shame, this is next gen consoles, make us some next gen games if you can!
For the pro evo buyers, Im hoping that the demo is like a rough version of it because end of the day, we all just customers who want our money worth and why should I laugh if you made a poor purchase, its down right uncalled for!

But far IMO, fifa demo was better and Im glad I brought the game because the gameplay is fantastic.

Neither game seemed particularly ground breaking, both very similar to their predecessors imo. I always get PES and was tempted to get both this time, but the fact fifas be a pro career only lasts four seasons has pissed me right off. I wanted to start in league two and make my way up the leagues slowly which, obviously, you cant do in a 4 season game

EA Sports obviously just want to use a "full" be a pro career to try and sell the next game and, if thats their plan, they can shove this one up their arse. I might get FIFA as well as Pro next year when they have a proper be a pro career mode, but this year i'm just going to wait and get PES- 21 seasons in BAL here i come, cant wait!

i thought fifa 09 is pretty ground breaking.

the first next gen game.

Realistic collisions and ball physics.

Good graphics.

Excellant gameplay.

very picky with the comments about the "audience". I personally think they look great and you have just GOT to be kidding about the PES 2008 crowd being better than this years.

*RETIRED*
The FIFA 09 final retail IS NOT the equivalent of the PES 2009 demo so why are so many people comparing them?

Fifa 09 demo is identical to the retail version, so if we want to compare demos i think fifa wins, i even got the opinion of someone who isn't a video gamer, but likes football: played both after eachother and asked for the opinion.
Fifa: the pitch looks weird and players not so good but the players move like real football and the ball is played like real matches.
PES: better graphics and shiny graphics with sharp visuals but the ball bounces off players and they move in diagonal directions while the players are very heavy.

:erm:sounds like fifa and pro evo have swapped other from last gen.

fifa use to be about looks and pes use to be about gameplay.

What would make you think that it is at all fair to compare a demo and a full retail version of a game? Even if the demo is exactly what the full version of PES will be like, by comparing a demo to a full version completely undermines the basis of your opinion.

I have a stack of games to trade in - if I get around £60ish from them, I'll get both FIFA and PES. If not then just Pro Evo - I've been disappointed too many times by FIFA.

It's worse for me when FIFA disappoints because I love their game modes. The whole qualification process then a major cup competition is good, the realistic season modes are very good, and in Euro 2004 the pick your own XI idea was singularly the best game mode ever.

Pro, with FIFA's game modes would really be good.

i think too many pro evo fans are going by the fifa of old. Fifa pre 08 was awful. You have got to try it to like it!

I played pro evo 09 demo this morn and its awesome first attacking play i came down the left wing with nani and crossed the ball in early and ronaldo was on the edge of the bo he chested it to him self and in one motion jumped up and siccored it like BERBATOV agaist Aalborg midweek. straight in it looked awesome. also another thing to note is the gameplay is alot like ISS 98 on ps1. which i love and still play now on my ps3 players like henry are only 18 and beckham is in his prime with ronaldo lol. anyways now you can actually do lob threw passes and they come off and do go to the keeper or cut out.
defenders are alot better now the tackle well and try everything they can to stop you instead of just giving up.
pes will kill FIFA off this year if the online play is any good.

So far, the game sounds How I expected.. much better than 08, closer to the Old versions (although probably Not as good, for some reason) -and- it seems to have that thing that PES08 lacked, the more you play it -the- more it grows on you.

Haven't played the Demo yet.. but judging by the Gameplay Footage and the Comments -it- sounds like a game with good Gameplay and Graphics, but crappy Animations.

So the Animations won't do the game any Justice.

i eventually got the last fifa, and i got EURO2008. Both are very good games imo, they entertained me for a while. the fact is though that, no matter how much they improve (and FIFA games have improved a lot in recent years), scoring a last minute winner or smacking the ball into the top corner on FIFA just never makes me feel the same way that it does when I do it on pro. I dont know why it is, but pro just feels right and for that reason i always tend to prefer PES games to the newer improved FIFA ones
