The Three Amigos
i bought it with the sole intention of playing it a couple of times and taking it back,

I didnt even bother playing a 2nd game, truly awful, football at its worst, your other players are totally disinterested in the game.

Its already gone back to the shop.

Helps me to appreciate pes.
Sounds like Spurs.

After playing it all night, my thoughts were;

I think that the Be a Pro Mode was a let down, I enjoyed it alot to be honest. I didnt actually play a proper game untill late last night. But, I felt they should of done more, i.e a career mode where you take a player through his career. But at the moment, just the one off match isnt actually very good. But it was good being able to take control of my friend Ali Fuseini at Millwall etc.

I then set up an FA Cup tournament, I played Liverpool and won 2-0. I then got drawn against Barnet (half a star rating)....I thought to myself, this should be a walk over now...Barnet were probably just as good as the Liverpool team I played. They could all run just as fast as the Arsenal players and recovering well.

The game play was, just the usual, I quite like how the players turn when the ball is played into feet. And I feel the graphics are actually quite good.

What I do not like is not being able to change the formation like you do in Pro, i.e putting a player exactly where you want him and then telling him where to run etc.

I will definately be trading it in for the new Pro which is coming out.

This definately does not match up to even the old Pro, I could have hours and hours of fun. And there is so much passion in the game because ANYTHING can happen.

I've not played FIFA 08 yet but intend to download it soon and run the rule over it for myself. A couple of things you said in your review have been said about FIFA before, such as the later versions not even being anywhere near as good as the old PES versions. From what I've read about FIFA 08 it's the same old story, FIFA being better for content/cosmetics and PES being better for its technicality and engine. If FIFA had those two things there would only ever be one winner imo and that would be FIFA, hands down. It's got everything going for it but is missing the technicality and engine that PES is famous for.

I think I'm gonna buy it this year and actually like it. From what I've heard from people outside this site(people who are mutual towards both games) the game is actually quite fun and is much harder. Which I really wanted. I think PES fans need to stop comparing Fifa to PES. It's not a sin to like both games you know.

"Everything going for it" except the main game part eh? Heh.

Kind of easier to do presentation than it is to perfect gameplay.

There's nothing wrong with comparing the two games, as long as there is no biasness and it's a balanced comparison.

It's all important though for the overall gaming experience isn't it? A game that's presented well and plays well is a shit-hot game, although yes I agree the latter is more important without a doubt.

Haha exactly.
And you could say Vice versa about Pro that if it had more licenses and better presentation it would be the best game... Wait it is the best game...

Yep vice versa too. It's not just the presentation though, FIFA has over 620 teams, 30 leagues and 15,000 players as well as 'Be a Pro' mode...

to be totally honest i think the graphics of FIFA 08 are overrated, the grounds are still far too dark to look realistic, you can't see the back of the Kop for fuck's sake!

The players feel clumsy and slow, free kicks are still too easy and the game play needs a major overhaul. but it is enjoyable, even if it is only for a couple of weeks until Pro Evo comes out.

Oh its an absolute gorgeous game, the graphics are brilliant. 10 times better than PES's.

I was being sarcastic...

Your comment was really stupid imo.
It will be alot easier for Konami to improve PES' presentation and licenses than it will for FIFA to get up to PES' gameplay.

Next time you should confirm that you are being sarcastic, it's an internet forum for heavens sake I am not a mind reader, you mutated smelly elephant tranny from the future. My comment was not stupid, only an ignorant, miserable prick like yourself would perceive that as stupid and besides, you have completely missed the point altogether. It doesn't matter what is easier to do or what isn't, my point is that even a game with great gameplay is always a better game with better presentation and content than it is without, thus, merge the qualities of both games together and you would have the best football game on the planet.

You sir, are a silly buffoon.

Err so now your saying if you merge them both you get the best?
Not that Fifa would be the best?

You cant argue with an idiot so im not even going to bother.

What?!! :shocking: That's what I've said all along you complete and utter fool, you can look at it from a PES point of view or a FIFA point of view, either way it's the same thing! I merely looked at it from FIFA point of view. Seriously, what does it take to get through your thick head? Is it so hard for you to look at it vice versa? I'm COMPARING the two games you fucking moron. Give me strength. Are you on drugs or are you always a bitter argumentative bellend? Your criticism holds absolutely no ground at all, and you've attempted to nick-pick at things which can't be nick-picked, therefore I think the truth is you just have a few personal bitter issues mate.

You cant argue with an idiot so im not even going to bother.

Then don't argue with yourself then...

By the way; sort out your grammar and punctuation because it's atrocious.

Because I missed out a couple of apostrophes?
Whos nick picking now?

Basically you said FIFA would be better if it had the better gameplay because their presentation is better (which it is) and all I said was thats a stupid thing to say because I could say Pro would be better if it had the better presentation... (But Pro is better anyway with the poorer presentation because PES' gameplay is alot better than FIFA's).
Hence the reason I said it would take longer for FIFA to get to PES' gameplay than it would for PES to get to FIFA's presentation standards.

I just think it was a stupid thing to say because you could make that statement about any 2 rival games like Halo and Killzone for example.
You could say if Killzone had this it would be better than Halo...

And then just because I said I was being sarcastic you start insulting me calling me a smelly elephant, misreable prick and a silly buffoon all in 1 post JUST because I said I was being sarcastic.

NUFC
I bought it last saturday, i think its average at best.

Certainly not enough to keep me occupied for a year like Pro does.

the 'Be a Pro' mode i have to say is quite decent, playing as a right back or a winger is better than any other position.

But the main game, 90 minutes of football, is utter shite.

Like Pistolpete said, it'll help me appreciate Pro more.

ROLL ON OCTOBER 26TH
