I absolutely can't score free kicks. Any tips? when I try, I always miss the goal or it is caught by the goal keeper. Can you guys help? How do I know when to let go of the shoot button, when to curl? etc.

First of all make sure most of the time's you put the freekick over the wall or try too, alot of people come on here and say there crap at freekicks the reason why is because they try and score top bin on the other side of the wall. I do this if the freekick is 30 yards or more i put the power just over the halfway bar. If the freekick is less than that then give it less power if you are closer to the bar like on the 18yard line keep the analog r3 keep it down that gets the players foot under the ball sorry if you already know this. Make sure when taking a freekick that the player with the best freekick stats is on it then you have a better chance of scoring. Try going onto training and just keep on having a go at it, you will soon crack it mate.

p.s ive been able to score freekicks on all of the pro evo series and winning eleven series. just take practice

I aim between the last two defenders heads in the wall... post side.

Hold R1 and press up really hard... fill powerbar to half.

I usually score a freekick every game. The most i have scored in one match was 4 with Robinho.

Free kicks are easy

I admit in pes4 fks were tough!

But sorry I had a freekick given to me when the doorbell went ..
I came back into the room to find my cat had walked over my pad and scored a 30 yd belter with becks ...

HAHAHA ur shit, messing. Try with Juninho or Pirlo they're the best. Put around half-power when under 33m. Itll defo go on target.

I find that using X is very helpful. I tended to suck before I learned to use X (and sometimes triangle). X will get the ball to come down just enough to not go over the net, with enough power to beat the keeper.

And on really close range, it's good combined with Down.

If you are really close, why not just use the lob? Press circle slightly and the ball will go over the wall and stay under the post. Its a great way to score if u are very close. Just need to practise with the angle u shoot it at and u'll score lots easy goals.

1.Not having free kicks in pes4 were tough at all, in the end they were easier to score than penalties

2.You have a very talented cat

Find free kicks pretty easy now in pes5, if really close a lay off is good, gerrard is very dangerous there, scored two in one match exactly the same goal

Play Fifa on the megadrive, or buy a cat.

Good luck

Most of the tips above are right. Just want to add that you can socre top/bottom corner as well. And if you're good enough also over/around the wall.

Also, any palyer with Shot power/FK Acc/Curling/Tech in mid-high 80's can score. Sometimes the player with the best FK stats may not suite you.

Eg. I usually play Chelsea. Lamps/Drogba have the better FK stats. I hardly score with Lamps. Drogba I put a few away. (usually further out). Prolly its thier shot power or freekick stance that messes my timing up.

With J.Cole on the other hand, I'm absolutely lethal from short/medium range. I find with Jow I can get it over and down again the best. His stats are only around mid/high 80's.

So find a player and practice. The more curling abilty a player has, to more you can dip and swerve the ball. And this is essential.

After kick, use :x: or :triangle: to dip/float the ball more in combination with l/r to bend.

Cheers.

Some good tips here..

It will always depend on the stats of your kicker. I have a kind of system I use.. for free kicks 18 to 25m out, I hold down, aim for the corner over the wall, taking the kickers curl into account, put the power bar up around halfway or just under (depending on how close) and hold the direction I want to curl. For frees 25 to 35m I do the same except I hold up instead of down.

players with very high shot power are harder to score with from close range. I have Nirat taking kicks for my ml team.. he's brilliant at close range and up to 35m out

Yer i know what you mean UncleJ. In my ml Rooney is the best at taking freekicks but i dont always score with him but it's a different situation if i take them with SWP. Just like Cole's his stats are in the mid 80's but i score atloeast every freekick with him. Maybe the more you take them with one player the more you adjust to that player neitherless of their stats.
