The more time I spend playing the demo the more fucked off I get. The more you play the more you notice and the level of incompetence displayed by Konami goes from strength to strength. I gave the game the benefit fo the doubt on the first few plays but I've noticed enough now to make my mind up.

Keepers - useless

Defending - total mess - sometimes you want a player to just stick a leg out, now! instead you have to wait for the player to 'lock on' and wait for the AI to decide to make a challenge. Total crap. Waiting over, the AI mistimes the challenge and the ball is in the net. Total shit.

Player movement is still pretty crappy as well. Couldn't have been worse if I made it. Team-mate defenders seem to do next to nothing, they don't make clearing headers or take up good positions in defence or attack.

How many times do your team mates have to get in the way of your own shot?

I've won most of the games I've played on the demo, including the last 4 games but I couldn't care less. Leaves me feeling completely ambivalent. This game feels arcadey, fake, and just a tarted up PS1 game. Something you could find in the foyer of a local Premier Inn perhaps.

For me this game is as bad as 2010 and 2011 and 2009 and 2008. Different things made worse, things that should have been fixed haven't been.

Before anyone says its only the first demo. They took over 8 months to get to this point - how will they fix everything they've not fixed in only one? They've spent 8 months dicking about with graphics, managers on touchline, making the graphics slightly blurier and the interface more difficult to use, WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU PEOPLE BEING PAYED FOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Needless to say I shan't be purchasing this pile of horse manure in October, its the same old shit from the same old ass holes. Year after year.

FUCK YOU SHINGO SEABASS.

ball physics are phenomenol, all that needs fixiing is goalkeepers(yes everyone goes on about them still seem to make stupid spills) and ive also noticed shooting is too easy 3 longshots in a row by hamsik made the back of the net :s

Best for me was PES 3 in 2004. That was so far ahead of anything else at the time! Its odd I remember playing this and thinking football games in 10 years time are going to be amazing! Well we are nearly there and I dont think we have moved on too much at all... Backwards in some ways... If you take away the graphics and animations im not sure anything has really changed that much... Wish it wasnt Konami who created PES... New game engine needs to be created for next gen consoles please! Stop flogging a dead horse!

By the way Im not an EA fan, the engine they created in 2007 is utter shite and updating that every year is just building on crap... At least the pes engine was brilliant to start with, its just out of date!

Fully agree, PES5 was the game that impressed me the most at the time, it offered a balanced game of footy, and at the time was so far ahead of the competition, and even without competition, it was simply impressive at the time.

Not to sound repetitive but I genuinely think that the mistake was that Konami didn't knew when to stop doing what they are still doing, you know, not having independent control over the direction of movement and over the direction of passing is a massive limitation, and milking the same cow for so many years is just going around in circles: the same old problems remain because these are core problems that can only be fixed or improved upon by changing or reinventing the game from the ground up.

The footy sim that will reinvent the genre in the years to come, will be the one that offers movement within the space before anybody else. I was thinking it was going to be Konami, because they used to be more hardcore, but I feel that Konami has now settled for a more casual video game where the "Active AI" practically plays the game for you.

LOL.

Ball physics phenomenol huh, what settings are they phenomenol on, +2? because on 0 its like the ball is traveling in slow motion.

+1 actually i like a fast paced game ( just my opinion) and when i meen ball physics its how the ball moves in the air, normally in pes 2011 if you hit the ball side footed or outer foot then the ball would go straight to the keeper and didnt replicate no realism, in pes 2012 the physics of you hitting the ball with outer foot and it spinning realistically is spot on

Nemisiskidd comments on the demo seem like the rare ones worth noting..

This about the ball physics & curves related to the player shooting foot position has been way off in pes for years. Good to hear they got it sorted out.

Also ppl saying about ball physics should note that professional balls have got significantly lighter and more balloon like during last few years.

Anyway I've found almost the best solution just not to read any comments about demo, but simply buy the game and see for myself then :D.

I've played pes since pes3 and always enjoyed the newest pes after a while of getting used to it.

Only thing pissing me from konami is their ability to remove completely working and good features and add new half-working stuff, which they improve to next year till they remove & rework it again. It's like they are inventing the wheel over and over again, instead of improving it.
Still I'm confident that the new pes will satisfy my taste :)

True, because sometimes it travels a bit too slow.

And yes, the ball curve is awesome. A truly great positive thing to see.
Goals and animations are much improved too.

Yep, I definitely feel it. If I accept it as a demo of course, a work in progress. I don't think the adjustments are too hard to get right either, but I fear Konami might be a bit too sloppy in the end.

But I have hope, big hope.

for me, the gameplay will be great once you have mastered it - but this is where the troubles lay, a one off play of a demo may istantly be liked, but its the hours of MLO12 that will make or break the game.

triple tap circles, blatent match AI rigging (div2 vs newbie div5 anyone!?), broken tournements. For me this is where the money lays!

Get the concept of MLO polished and i'd be happy with the SWOS game engine!!!

Also this year i'm gonna go X-box after playing PS3 last year....

Are the cheaters still on x-box, too many PS3 users lag the game todisconnect when they are losing, its a joke, you cant even collectively get them banned - i'm hoping x-box will be much better

You seem to be very positive about PES 2012. Did you like 2011?

I just wonder what the general consensus is. Me and your best mate, Mak both liked PES 2011, but disliked the 2012 demo.

Everyone i know who enjoyed 2011 hate this beta demo.People who enjoy this beta demo may as well put there pre-orders in now because it's only going to improve for the final release.

I am in auto-buy mode at this point, just wating for it to get released. 2011 had its problems but I don't seem to complain when into my second hour of playing last night. It is still fun.

I don't want this to be a PES-less year for me. I'm optimistic of improvement.

and it looks like I won't be choosing Atletico Madrid as a side anymore in 2012 after Aguero and Forlan have both been moved.
