^^Try a bit of punctuation and people might actually try and read that.

That was my first post. Nobody is forcing you to read all of that and there's punctuation there alright. I felt strongly about it and just wrote out whatever came to mind. It might not be perfect grammatically and might be riddled with errors because I've not bothered proof reading it like I'm sure you do with your posts. Either read it or don't but don't complain about something as petty as punctuation. I'd appreciate it more if you did read it and had something intelligent to say.

So here it goes...
Another day, another evening and having told myself for 1000th time that "This Time" it might change, it might get better, I insert the PES disk again into the PS3.

Master League. Me Arsenal against Bolton. 14th game of the season.
Gardner dribbles through my players and BAM 1-0.
Player goes down 40 yards. Free Kick. Average Joe takes it and then BAM 2-0.
Stupid stupid deflections and BAM 3-0.

I am utterly gutted. This wasnt the first time and wont be the last. I have been playing PES since ever and I have never seen so much bullshit in one iteration.

1. Why is it that the COM attacks with 2,3 players, one-two passing through your defense and CROSSING ALL THE TIME to expose the unbearably stupid GKs?
2. Why is it that an average Joe COM nearly always converts free kicks?
3. Why is it that there seems to exist an invisible leg or some kind to deflect the ball wherever COM wants?
4. What the fuck is wrong with defending? I cant defend for shit.
5. What the fuck is wrong with running animation? Is the pitch SOAPY?!
the list goes on and on for me. I want my bloody money back KONAMI :realmad:. Going back to PES 11.

Damn this sucks now you to play FIFA. Good luck!:lol::rolleyes::rolleyes:

It's very hard to read something when it's just 1 big paragraph. You've corrected it now, and it's a lot better, and easier to read.

I just have to say having been a true PES fan since the PSX days because of it's fluidity and freedom of play. Not to mention the great tactical set-ups that you could apply to your team and individuals. I mean you can actually notice changes once they've been made. Like in the old days you could mark someone out of the game if for example you were having trouble dealing with a specific player so you'd pit him against a physically strong and defensive player and hey presto the attackers chances become limited but as in real life never 100%.

I have never been a fan of Fifa...ever. So don't even bother saying I'm a Fifa fan boy because I still hate that crap game to this very day. Literally used to hate it because of the score from the halfway line goals I used to score with average players on a regular basis. Fifa has improved a lot. I tried Fifa 2012. It looks good. It plays okay but it's way too easy to score once you pair a long pass expert with someone who can work the lines. One long through ball. In on goal. Finesse shot. 8 out of 10 times it's a goal. Other than that the defending in Fifa is actually GOOD compared to Pro Evo because you can close down channels. BALANCE actually works in Fifa where you can outmuscle running noobs and dribblers if you make contact with them.

Pro Evo 2012 is a good game...for idiots who have no footballing brain. I'm the sort of player who uses his brain. Can keep amazing amounts of possession. Can time tackles. Close passing channels. Keep key players on the opposing side quiet by marking them out of the game. In Pro Evo 2011 this was possible as it allowed you do be in full control of your team. Pro Evo 2012 even though they had some great ideas for the game. Some amazing ideas actually. But the biggest gripe I have is that it is no longer a game for those who actually use their brain. It's gone back to the old days where if you had someone who is even slightly quick or good at dribbling they can waltz through your team and either score or set a goal up.

In PES 2011 before they even start their run you could apply pressure and either outmuscle them or call for backup just incase he slips away. There were still some players who were at time unstoppable in PES 2011 but either way it was 50/50 when it came to ATTACK VS DEFENCE. In PES 2012 however I'm sure many of you will agree that the advantage goes to the attacker because more than likely you will not be able to stop someone like Neymar. You can still do a lot of good things to defend against attacks in PES 2012 like closing channels, using the R2 methods, getting in position etc but what's the point when it's not a fair game? It should be 50/50 when it comes to ATTACK VS DEFENCE. Example. England vs Brazil. I put Terry, Rio Ferdinand, Micah Richards at right back and Ashely Cole left back to use their balance, speed and defence to stop marauding right/left backs and right/left wingers and Ashley Cole on the left. Now I have played PES 2012 long enough to have mastered the 'art of defending'. I know how to perfectly use the new R2 defence and it's variations. Neymar...just runs through them all. They're all stronger. They're all highly defensive. They're not slouches with the exception of Terry. Slips through 8 times out of 10. Sets a chance up or scores. Now I play against the COM at the highest difficulty quite a bit and I'd say the game is about 70% in favour of the attacker and even though that's a high percentage the game is still manageable and you are still able to defend OKAY. Not good. Just OKAY. I can live with OKAY.

Now...I play this game a whole lot more with a friend than against the COM. Someone who has never been able to beat me with Brazil since the old kick and rush one-two days of the PSX versions of PES. Where one simple one-two or a run using Ronaldo, Rivaldo, Denilson etc would result in a goal. So back then even I used to resort to those tactics to give him a taste of his own medicine and I have to say it was too easy to score and just...funny. Heck my team in the old PSX versions of PES was...Nigeria. Never lost a game with Nigeria to anyone. All because of the bloody runners. Babangida, Finidi George, Okocha, Aghahowa, Oliseh etc. PES 2012 reminds me of those games. The emphasis is purely on attack so they have the advantage. It's easier to attack than to defend. In football we've seen teams defend as good as the opposing team attacks. At the very least any team should be able to hold their own maybe losing the game 1-0 or 2-0 which you can live with. Now though...if you pick an average team against a half decent team with one or two players who have running or dribbling or a combination of both stats in their 90's...you might aswell put the pad down and give up if you're playing a friend. You will more than likely lose by a huge margin. Not because you're a bad player. Not because you're an average player. Because you're a good player. You use your brain. You think "Okay my formation is perfectly suited to defend against this team" . You think "I should be able to contain this team for at least 60-70 minutes and if I let one goal in then it's okay because they are the better team and not because you're playing someone better than you". The reason you lost is because you think too much. You're using your brain too much. You're complicating things. When all you really have to do is pick a team with a runner/dribbler. Then when you actually start the game...the idiot you're playing against continually passes to his key player(s). For the whole 90 minutes...he's holding the R1 running button. Running through all of your players because the defending is RUBBISH. Not even using any of the tactical dribble buttons or the skills. Just running using R1. Balance in this game means absolutely NOTHING. Defence stats in this game doesn't mean much either because more than likely the running noob you're playing against will still slip away 8 times out 10. Now you're playing against this person who never uses his brains. Never plays in triangles. Never uses tactics. Never uses any knowledge of football whatsoever to create his attacks. All he is doing is holding the R1 button. Running through all of your defence. Shooting. Goal. Goal. Deflection. Own goal. Keeper mistakes. Rubbish decisions by the referee. And when you finally do slightly touch someone to use your balance...freekick. No outmuscling. Just freekick. When did football become a game for bloody pansies??

I've finally after all these years of supporting PES even in it's darkest days when it looked like they couldn't take the game any further...I've finally given up on PES. This game now belongs to all those idiots who have no understanding of football and hold the R1 button all game long and pick teams with running and dribbling stats in the 90's. Anyone who supports this game hasn't either played against a friend or is still blindly supporting PES because it ALLOWS them to simply run past players with their 90+ stat players knowing full well nobody can defend against it. Even the best defenders in the game. Fifa...God don't even mention that game to me. Looks great. Sounds great. Attacking is great. Keepers are AWESOME. Referees are good. Continuation of play from throw-ins, freekicks etc is realistic. Defence is good. Balance actually works...but the reason I say don't mention it...is because...the game is still...overall...RUBBISH. I hate something that was close to getting it right but misses the key ingredient. One long through ball like I said. Finesse shot. Goal. WAY TOO EASY TO SCORE. Not to mention the rubbish A.I.

I just hope there are others true football fans who share my opinion and feel so strongly about this as I do because I have always been such a passionate supporter of PES.

I do not love you anymore, PES. Even though I loved you like no other...we have to break up. Don't worry...I'm not breaking up with you because of that dumb blonde Fifa who gets by on her looks. Good luck with the rest of your life. Who knows? If one day you decide to better yourself...maybe we can get back together but for now...be happy with your R1 running noobs. This chapter of my life is now...closed.

I traded my copy in for "in store credit". I have MASS Effect 3, Skyrim, Saints Row the Third and other much better games coming out than this garbage game. I will never EVER buy another PES. They sold me a broken game full of bugs(Hello running bug)
- The shooting is SHIT
- The passing is SHIT
- The dribbling is SHIT
- The defending is UTTER SHIT
- Goalkeepers MEGA SHIT
- Animations are still piss poor considering this is a next gen console.
- Weird physics/deflections which result in silly goals
- 1v1 vs GKs always shoots in the middle unless you dribble past the GK(unrealistic)
- The fact that they lack licenses is SHIT as well. I know, I know, what about an OF? I have one and it makes the loading in the games suuuuuuuuuuper slow.

Those are just a few problems it has, DO NOT BUY THIS GAME unless you are a hardcore PES fan that will play it regardless of it being rubbish.

Go buy Batman or Dark souls or even FIFA but this game is garbage.. it pains me to say it since I've been buying every WE/PES/ISS games since the late 90s but this games is a joke. They need to fire the entire team and start from scratch.

Wow, I find it unbelievable to read all this. When I started playing the game, I was a bit disappointed as well. I did not manage to win and felt I got screwed vs the CPU and in online matches. I felt as described above to sum it up. But after a few long training sessions, where I learned to defend properly (use R2 a lot), learned to score 1v1's and learned to driblle, I started winning. Now I play it online every day for hours. I really, really love it and I think PES 12 is by far the best PES on the PS3. It is just not made for people who want to play a quick match once in a while. It takes time to get skilled in PES. I find most people complaining just haven't played the game very long (30 hours or less) and don't understand the game. I'm convinced this game will be rewarded much higher after a few months, when the players are more skilled and find out most off the 'errors/bugs' are actually their lack of skill.

This is NOT about skills. I am in Division 1 with about 648 points and I KNOW how to defend, shoot and dribble. I win a lot of games but that is not the point here. This is about bad game mechanics/bugs etc.

Hence my point. This guy obviously hasn't played for a long time. Passing can be switched from fully manual to fully assisted. How can itbe shit, you can set it up exactly how you want. Shooting is fine too, just a lot of practice, which you obviously did not do. Dribbling shit? Are you kidding me, dribbling works great, much bettere than last years PES. Defending is difficult, not shit. GK's are indeed rubbish, they should fix that.
1v1, easy, just time your shot better.
OF makes ur game slow; wrong OF apparently, mine doesn't slow the game down at all.
Just beacuse You suck in the game, doesn't make it a bad game. I also don't believe you played the early PES games, since they also took a lot off skill and patience, things you obviously lack. I'm guessing ur a FIFA fan (which is fine) trying to damage PES?

YuP love pes, and I'm not someone who just holds down sprint. I like to pass around, it's a lot of work IMO to get decent, my online rating is low but that's because I play with pretty crap teams against the barcas and reals of this world.

I will say offline Im very into, found that I prefer a fane speed of -2 with a long camera angle. It has it's frustrations but to me they don't out weigh the joys of when things click. Hope to all those who don't like it, don't get it or are not good at it. Find their gaming enjoyment somewhere else.

I just played 4 games online with Spurs. 4 different opponents took a decent team (ManU, Arsenal, Arsenal, Aston Villa). The matches where all very equal, exciting and great fun. Everytime I play a 3/4 star match, the games are truly fantastic. Unfortunately, most Barca/Real/Milan matches suck. They are to predictable and to fast imo. It's much more difficult to play decent soccer with Real than with Everton, which is strange but true. The 3/4 star teams just play slower, making you play more patient, looking for the free man. With Barca vs Real, games go superfast, and everyone is just looking for Messi/Ronaldo. I can't blame them, since this is the most easy way to win, but those players should not ever complain imo.

I agree with you there mate. Completely at that. When I started this thread, I was so frustrated I couldnt sit down and have a go like yourself. But Bravo.

One of the worst things I hate about PES 12 is, as you put it in other words, the inability to BUILD UP PLAY. In PES 11, with all its flaws known to all, I could literally build up my game thinkin how to approach a certain opponent. With PES 12, all I do is use a speed merchant, run down the channel, cut back a few passes and use crossing a lot. It has deprived me of the feeling I had when playing PES for so long.

I am sorry for KONAMI and most of all myself and guys like us, who put their faith in their beloved game only to see it go one step forward but two steps back.

Cheers.

Good and useful post, Zidane. I actually remember all those nigerian players, Babagnida was so fast. Heh. I thought i was the only one with such beautiful PSX memories. One-two's, oh my friend, those were gold. Or shots from distance with Batistuta - If I'm not mistaken, he had a bloody powerful shot; and Carlos...

Anyway. Back to the point, you're absolutely right; but PES has always been about speed. Not only this year. Every year. Maybe now more than ever, but since PSX you gotta agree, all PES has ever been was about speed. Even a cheap player, with good speed stats, could make a change. Too bad. And all you said about Fifa, you read my mind. Fifa looks awesome, so real you can't tell the difference sometimes between reality and Fifa, haha. But that AI... that fkn flawed AI... and the goal patterns...

I've finally found the correct combination of settings etc that is making the game a joy now. I will admit to trying everything, was going for the PS3 first but wanted the graphical element and customisation, now I'm with the PC which at first I didn't prefer. I've tried everything peeps so can understand everyone's frustration at seeing the glaring errors in the game, I've gone from changing platforms, changing settings, changing gamespeeds, changing cameras, OF's, DLCs, patch this patch that, gamemode this gamemode that, 3 different tele's lol, you could say my quest to GET THIS FKIN GAME TO WORK has been bordering on obsession.....the list has been endless.

BUT here is my setup and I'll explain why...

37" LCD tv, PC platform (to get full customisation including stunning graphics, stadia, textures, and logos like the Sky Sport one), DLC content and patch 1.01. PESEDIT added for kits and players etc, Jenkey's patch to disable replays, ball weight to the max, shot power harder one notch, more curve and net physic. Don't use his gameplay change or cheat fix thing (find they in fact make the CPU cheat more), gamespeed changed to 85. Also changed the default 16:9 to 4:3.

Now for the game; Superstar level, 15 minute games, no assistance.

FINALLY, I can safely say that this now resembles the game I want. Possession is fairly equal, mostly 55-45 in my favour but that's pretty damn close to what I want. The CPU in superstar like most people know is fairer. I get stunning graphics and everything screams proper tv game in relation to how it looks. Gamespeed is exactly how I want it, not too slow but just right. And the assistance off means you still have to focus on every pass.

Right now this game now plays awesome. The switch from default 16:9 to 4:3 has also been a revelation.

BUT - let me just say that this is not acceptable, I have been borderline obsessive with this quest, but why doesn't the game just fkin work out of the box like 99% of people want it to? Why does it take a month of potching round with virtually every setting combination to get the friggin thing to resemble simulation as opposed to ping pong arcade?

If it wasn't for my love of the PES games of old I would have given up on it ages ago. But I believe through my perseverance and no thanks to KONAMI I know have something that I want to play.

also set brightness to +6.
For better and slow build-up play, put player support to 0 as that is the closest tactic i found to build-up play. All the good teams you verse have high build-up play which is why it's hard to play decent footie. Konami messed the tactics up - barca have 10 player support and it is clear they are a side that likes to play more defensive than attackive. I put support to 0 and although it feels slow, the results are more realistic

when the players are more skilled and find out most off the 'errors/bugs' are actually their lack of skill.

I played over 100 matches and my win ratio is over 80%

Its not about the skill its about realism or lack of it. The game is simply arcadish and to make matters worse its terribly assisted and forces you into things all th time, I don't sense enough freedom.
Then there are horrible goalkeepers and the general issues and bugs.

Add all this together and the game is a piece of unrealistic arcadish crap that only people who have little clue about soccer would enjoy.
