Description:
No.1: Increase the ability to customize kits. Bring back the features of kits where you would increase the amount of dirt and mud that you would pick up depending on how many tackles you made in a game. This would also depend on the weather conditions. Along with this allow players to have neck warmers when in cold conditions.
Bring back the ability to have players play with shirts un-tucked. So there shirt would hang loose. It’s not a major point but one which gives more customization to the game; real players do it so why shouldn’t ones in the game be the same?

No.2: Bring back the feature where you could play wintery weather conditions. This would mean bringing back snow to pitches. Also the ability to see players’ breath when they were playing in the cold winter conditions. Also increase the wear on the pitches depending on the time of year. Even modern pitches get worn during the winter around the centre circle and usually in the middle of the pitch and the box is really well worn. Changing the pitch condition can change the style of play that you have to adopt.

No.3: Increase the number of playable leagues in game and improve cup competitions. Include lower leagues from around Europe as well as South American Leagues. This could be done in a few ways, have blank extra leagues in the game which could be customized depending on where the game is bought. So in South America you would get Argentina’s top league as well as maybe Brazil and Mexico and maybe the MLS as well as the big European Leagues.
When it comes to the national cup competition such as the European Championships or the South America Championships the formats aren’t correct and the numbers of national teams who participate are not the correct. This could do with being sorted out, increasing the number of national teams which are involved in the final competition so that there could be correct group stages and knock out rounds. Perhaps getting the rights for these competitions from continental governing bodies such as the AFC, CONMEBOL, CAF,CONCACAF and UEFA so that you would have the Asian Cup, Copa America, African Cup of Nation, Gold Cup and Euro’s all licensed. Maybe qualifiers for those competitions which have them should be introduced.

No.4: Introduction of a World Club League. This would be where you can take a club from somewhere in the world and bring them to win there top division and then win the continental league and finally onto a world championship. So, for instance take Boca Juniors to win the Argentina’s top league and then into the Copa Libertadores and finally onto the World Club Championships. This could be introduced into Master League so that you actually take your team through realistic challenges instead of fantasy leagues as you have at the moment. Also this could be included with Become a Legend

No.5: The ability to shoot well from long range, It is very hard to pull of a good attempt at goal in the game. Think of shots from long distance that have gone in i.e. Xavi Alonso v Luton or Newcastle 2006. Along with that the ability for a team to counter attack effectively, so what I suggest is that a player wouldn’t be limited to a hit and hope shot from long range but would be able vary the height of his long shot. It is really hard to hit another team cold on the counter attack where they have thrown everyone forward for a corner and you are able to clear the ball away and score a great counter attacking goal. Example of this is the Netherland v Italy in Euro 2008. This would really make the game more exciting and add another side to it if you could counter attack well. Some teams are the masters of this, think of Manchester United or Arsenal or even Liverpool in European competition!

No.6: With the successful purchase of the UEFA Champions League, I think that it would be great to introduce the UEFA Cup/Europa League into the game. This would increase the number of European club teams that you would able to play as in competition and also in exhibition. If this was coupled with an increase in the number of European leagues that you could play through it would give a real dimension to league play. What are teams playing for? (For the league title, Champions League place, Europa League spot) It would add excitement and tension to league matches and you could be rewarded even if your team doesn’t win the league title one season.

No 7: Allow a wider variety of shots when taking a penalty. Allow the taker to dictate how hard the shot is, whether to apply curl to the shot, to have a chip shot or whether to go for power or accuracy. Allow players to have the same sort of control over the place kick as you would if you were shooting from any other position on the field. Also allow for variation of penalty shots so you can bring in other players, such as Henry and Pires. Introduce a dummy aspect to shots so that you can start a run up and then stutter and maybe stop trying to tempt the keeper into going one way but then hitting the shot the other.

No.8: Actually have the real names of players for national teams. So for teams such as Germany and others which don't have licensed kits have the correct players names and also have commentary names for these players. This occurs with some national teams at the moment which don't have licensed kits but have all the correct player names and commentary names. Also an expansion of the players’ names that are in commentary, it would be better to have as many players names as possible when playing with a team. Also to increase the number of national teams that is available.

No.9: Change the positioning of strikers in the box when crosses are whipped into position. In many cases a striker will be stuck behind a defender and this isn’t always realistic, they computer should bring the striker to be ball side of any cross so that they at least make it easier for them to score from a header. Also there should be other players running in from deep to get to the ball to head the ball in if you miss it when the cross is played in from the wings. So this could be a defender coming from deep to head the when he is at the other side of the box from the man you originally intended to head the ball.

No.10: Allow for more variation of play when you’re the attacking team at corners and free kicks. So if you want to have 3 or 4 men right in front of the opposition’s keeper to put a lot of pressure on him then you should be able to change your tactics so that this is possible to do. This would increase the possibility of the keeper fluffing the ball and dropping it or there being more bodies in the box to actually score if the ball is loose in the box.

No.11: Allow players to knock down and flick on the ball. So, if you have a very tall striker or player allow them to knock down for there strike partner or other member of the team to pick up the ball. Also for a flick on, allow the player to flick the ball on if they are close to another member of there team of if they being closed down by the opposition. So this would help to break down very tight defence if you are attacking. This would be limited to only certain forwards who could do this. Also when it comes to knocking the ball down either when it’s a striker knocking down a cross that has come in or a defender, allow the player to actually chest the ball down like people do in real life. So they could either chest the ball down into the patch
of another player in there team or they could chest it down and then be able to play the ball.

No.12: Be able to leave the ball and stop it when you’re attacking allowing another member of your team to then play it. This would work if you have other members of your team supporting you and are right behind. This could confuse the opposition and give more variety to the play and if you are in a position where you are near to the edge of play this would allow you to draw defenders away from the ball and perhaps give you more change to either get yourself out of a tight spot or allow other players into the play. It just allows more creativity with play.

No 13: Allow players to play as partnerships, so for instance when you have strikers in the box, make it so that if one striker is at one side of the box, the second striker will be looking to find the ball if it comes to his side of the box, or if the second striker is coming from a deeper (link position) then allow him to come from deep and make late runs into the box so that he can get to any loose balls. This sort of thing would actually mean there are more opportunities to score when attacking as there is always someone following up your initial shot if you can’t select the player quickly enough after you have shot. Partnerships could enhance other areas of the team such as midfield as well as defence. In defense you should be able to have a player cover a position if someone is injured or out of position so a centre back taking the place of his partner if he is out of position. These partnerships could have a real effect on the performance of the team.

No 14: Nutmegs and tricks. This is something that I think could be used to good effect, you can’t nutmeg a player at the moment, so its not possible always beat a defender if they have you close down. Allowing a nutmeg would allow play to continue and would also be a good way to score. It is possible to score at the near post or the far post but it’s not possible to nutmeg the keeper. Also there are now a limited number of tricks that you can perform. Allowing players to have more freedom of the tricks you can perform would bring back some of the realism and showmanship that you could get with PES. Also its true to real life, there are players who have a lot of showmanship and love to show off lots of skills but there are also players who use there tricks in a very clever way.

No 15: Individual Style of play. What is meant by this that some teams will employ a certain style of play such as a long ball where more direct play and fighting for the ball is employed where the ball is up in the air as much as it is on the ground. Along with this teams who are very strong at set pieces and are very physical at those. Different styles of play such as when teams will pass the ball lots. Keeping the ball on the ground, probing to find ways through teams by passing the ball around until gaps open up to allow them to play through you. Along with teams who use wide men and will be looking to play the ball out wide to fast wingers who will constantly send crosses into the box. These differing styles of play would present new challenges to the game.

No 16: Runners from deep and better support play for the man in possession. This would mean that you would have more than one person in the box when your sending in crosses and that those without the ball would be either looking to get into the box or would be getting into positions within the box to actually get rebound or loose balls. Runners from deep could give better options for opening up tight defences if a player makes an unseen run either to distract the opposition so that it looks as if you will pass to them and so open up space for you to send a pass through to another player who would then be unmarked or to start a run to receive a pass and then be clean through on goal but not being noticed by the opposition.

No 17: Allow players to drag the ball sideways along the ground. This would mean that if you are standing with the touch line to your back and facing infield you should be able to either drag the ball along with one of your feet or play the ball along sideways like a crab would do.

No 18: Training, the training has to actually mean something. So you should be able to have more control over what sort of drills that you can have with your team, there was a lot more skill based training that you could do with older versions of PES but with the latest editions this isn’t present anymore. Also a clearer training schedule would help to improve skills so if you complete one stage you go onto the next just as was possible in older PES. Also more challenging training would be help, along with introducing more tutorials and training to master more difficult skills as well as playing out customized set piece routines so that you can test out a new set piece routine before you use it in a game.
The training could be adapted for Become a Legend as well so that you can work on your weaker areas such as fitness or stamina or dribbling with specific training so that you can add this to any new skills you try out in a match. Also how you go in training would have a bigger effect on how you play in a match. This wouldn’t have to be compulsory but if you want to or the coach suggests that you do.

No 19: Bring back the PES shop and a trophy cabinet! There isn’t any reward for playing games anymore. I can see that with playing the leagues and cups you will unlock classic players but there doesn’t seem to be much reward for playing games anymore. You can’t unlock speed of play or camera angles or new stadiums or perhaps new accessories for players or new boots. The trophy cabinet, where has this gone? You can’t proudly look upon the trophies that you have won anymore. It would be good to have all the fun of unlocking items like you used to. It was something to work towards…

How would this improve the game:
3. An increase in the number of league would be really good, give more variation to the game and with the ability to download content from Konami you could customise the game. So if you live in western europe you would have the major european leagues as default in the game but also have an amount of blank slots which you can add leagues into the game. This can be via the download feature. This could be a pay service where you add more leagues so you can choose what leagues you want, so you could add south american leagues such as Brasil, Argentina,Mexico,Usa/Canada. Also you could add leagues such as Belgium, Portugal,Austria, Switzerland etc.
7.This would really help to solve the problem of penalties. Always been something that hasn't been great on PES but allowing it to be taken like any other shot except from the penalty spot would be great. A penalty kick is basically a free kick from 12 yards out so you should have the same variety of shot allowed!
9. Having strikers taking up more clever positions within the box and supporting there strike partner reflects reality and helps to create more chances for scoring and increases the challenge if you are defending.
In addition to the inital post, here are some more reason why.... sorry I couldn't fit them in!
9. Having strikers taking up more clever positions within the box and supporting there strike partner reflects reality and helps to create more chances for scoring and increases the challenge if you are defending.
10. Allowing more pressure to be put on a keeper means that there is more chance of a mistake being made and means that you may be more likely to score from a header from a corner or from a spillage of the keeper or a loose ball in the box.
11. Flick ons and knock down would really be useful to break down tight defences and give more creativity to the play. It would actually be an asset if you have a tall striker in the box where you can use his height for something useful!
14. Nutmegs are used in real life and are great for getting out of tight spots and are always an option for scoring past a keeper... It would help to increase the reality of the game and bring some fun back.
13. Partnerships, well there realistic and are what a team relies upon. If you don't have good partnerships you loose strength in key areas of the team, such as the centre backs or central midfield or the strikers, good partnerships can really make a huge difference to a teams performance.

I hope that more people read this suggestion. I think that there is a lot in here that would really improve the game and I think would make it not only look more realistic but actually play realistically! Please feel free to post your thoughts on these suggestions!
