Just got 8 on IGN, not a surprise but lower than last years 9. Clearly this is a far better game, they are shit at reviews.

Worst review i've read on the game, doesn't even talk about any of it! Quite blatantly played it for 20min!
I've learned not to take any heed of the scores - just head over to the FIFA forums to see if the game is worth a 9 lol!
It's like every year with FIFA, once the dust settles, the gold starts to lose its sparkle and people start to get under the bonnet what is left is not a great game at all. But that's what FIFA does, it dazzles on the first twenty plays....by play fifty, if I ever get that far, I'm normally dying of boredom both from my own attacks and the computers.

But it could influence those folks who are on the fence, and while it is nice for PES to be a sort of "our secret," enough people have to play it in order for it to be profitable for Konami.
Of course, as far as Konami's end goes, they could consider releasing their games without inexcusable sprint bugs and sorely outdated rosters. Either way, it's better than an 8.
And eff IGN. They reviewed FIFA the day it came out, AND they - for lack of a better word - "bumped" the review to the top of their news stories at LEAST twice since then. I call payola.

Do you honestly think PES deserves anything above 8? even 8 is too much lol. and fifa lol hillarious, fifa deserves even less than pes.

Yeah I agree maybe 8 is a good score, I'm not doubting that. But the review is awful, really sounds like he has played it for 20min then read a description of features. But yeah the fact that FIFA got 9.5 is a total joke.
When it comes down to actually playing the game of football, PES scores higher than FIFA for me. Which is what it should be about really.
I agree with a post above that these reviews influence people a lot. My friend said he isnt buying PES because reviews of FIFA were better. Its sad but its the way it is with some people. EA is just buying out the games industry and dazzling people with sponsorships and advertising. Quite sad.
Well done Konami, the game this year is brilliant! Being a programmer myself, it can take lines and lines of code to even just make a player turn his head and watch the ball, then lines and lines more to make it only do it sometimes and then look at the ball! So there are faults but what do we expect for a game released yearly and on a lower budget than FIFA.

My honest opinion here, nothing else.
Pes 2012 deserves a 7.5-8 mostly. Not more, not less.
Why?
It has some really, really solid points but a few weak points that are weak in a way that they make it look inferior. However after playing both fifa 12 and pes 12 I can honestly say that pes deserves a higher score.
Fifa 12 for me scores between a 7-7.5.
Why these scores?
Positives about Pes
AI is tons better than Fifa's dump AI.
Fifa's AI aren't good and do not play well, they leaves spaces and sometimes will never attack you if you are near a DEFENDER (note that if you are near fifa's midfileders then, the game becomes pressure trash again). The only way for Fifa's CPU to win is to surround his players with invisible barriers where you can never attack them nor steal the ball from them.
ALTHOUGH PES 12 CHEATS ALOT, the goals that the CPU scores are believable because you can do similar goals. The way the CPU scores on Fifa is unbelievable and you can never replicate it. THAT SHOWS CHEAP PROGRAMMING and people fall for it by saying that it is hard. No it is not hard.
Ofcourse, depth is the key here so Pes takes it easy.
Although I slated fifa 12 so far, the game is not bad at all. It is quite enjoyable as it has 1 MAJOR THING OVER PES. That is CONTROL. You have the ability to shoot wherever you want as the powerbar rises slower and gives you much more time to think about where to place the shots, even if the overall shooting is well behind pes in terms of individuality.
Fifa 12 is much better than Fifa 11, but Pes 12 overall is just better and the deciding factor between the 2 was enjoyment. And I enjoyed Pes more. Actually much more. Fifa's extremely low point was the dump stupid AI that makes unbelievable goals.

so becasue you dont agree with the reviwer you want to call foul, and what if other reviwers give the same score have EA paid them too ??? :ninja:
I just think it's a bit suspicious that FIFA was reviewed the day it released in the US, while PES' was a month after, AND the FIFA review was re-posted by IGN several times in the interim.

IGN are an absolute joke when it comes to reviews and I don't trust them at all. They hand out 9.5 scores like they're confetti!!
Strangely it's usually to all the big games too. For example - they gave Fifa 12 and Forza 4 both 9.5 yet gave Dark Souls a 9.0???? I'm not saying Fifa or Forza are bad games but there just yearly updates that are quite similar to previous instalments, whereas Dark Souls is an incredibly original game with a great atmosphere and amazing gameplay - but surprise, surprise it's from a small developer!
Personally I think a 9.5 game comes along once every 3 or 4 years but IGN hand out those sort of scores every few weeks! It's a joke!!
