Intercepting through balls

[X-Offender]

I've had this happen to me quite often. The opposition tries a through ball as I'm marking one of their men. The guy I'm marking goes for the run, whilst the ball passes right beside my player. Problem is, he doesn't intercept it, regardless of what buttons I press. How do you deal with it?

This is something which can really bug me too, It's seems like one of the few situations where you have no control over your player and are left completely defenceless.

Does anybody have any advice?

Bugs me too as well. You can't do anything about it either. You can perfectly time your interception but the ball will go right through "/

Another thing that bothers me is that the AI for some reason can catch up to you easily even if you are far ahead than they are when sprinting and they trip you from behind making your player stop but it's not a foul... EVER. Also, the fact that you can't really tussle for position like in FIFA makes it that much harder to defend.

i am an r2 + square + x abuser and I always use it when I am not in full possession of the ball and I don't have a problems with intercepting.
However I do not like when you swith to a player closer to the through ball and the controlled defender starts to run in the wrong way as I though cursor change will be fixed this year

^ Yeah this is indeed a huge problem Abu. Thanks for the advice on how to intercept through balls, since i'm struggling a lot.

ahh didn't know this.... This works for any type of interception not just through passes I assume right?

Yeah, it works for shots or any loose ball and i always abuse it, especially against speed merchants!

I these kind of situations I usually avoid pressing ANY bottom at all. Just let the CPU control your defender, it's the best thing to do, as the CPU will make your defender 'glue' to the attacker and apply a great pressure. 90% of times, the attacker will be shrugged off the ball or will be so disturbed that it will force him to an error.

I let the CPU control my cb as r2 +x is broken so I use r2+square.

I use the super cancel in order to get my defender across and not to follow the path of the pass, it also depends on the ability to defend of your CB, I try to have very good DEFENSE rating CB´s this has really worked for me, Im currently 3rd on the Premiership on my ML 4th season on the 33 fixture and have only 35 goals against, the best defense of the league

Also, try not to abuse of the :R2: :x: and instead just make sure ur moving your defender to close the gaps by only using the :R2: and try to anticipate the through balls,

I tried to use Super-Cancel for a while in these kind of situations, and though it gives me control over the defender, it has to be used very carefully at times.
There are situations (specially in the more potent AI thru balls), where using Super-Cancel can make the defender miss the ball, leaving the attacker clear on goal.

Of course, like all things this technique has to be mastered. But since I'm still learning how to use it, I most of times prefer to use the method I mentioned above. Letting the CPU control the defender in these kind of situations is always reliable. The CPU never let's you down. If it doesn't intercept the pass, it will at least make the defender glue to the attacker.

Well Einstein, since it seems you don't have a minimum intellectual weight to keep up, I'll help you on interpreting that complex and intricate text.
What I meant is that:
'it can be done manually, but I still don't feel safe to use it, so I have to practice it a bit more before using it on a regular basis'.

Or I can make a drawing if that will spare you from the painful sensation of having to use your neurons, just for once.
