Is FIFA 06 worth getting once you have played Pro Evo?

To answer the inital question - I don't think FIFA is worth getting after buying PES...
My opinion on this topic, having played both Pro Evo 5 and FIFA 06 is simple - if good graphics and official licences/names grabs you over gameplay, then FIFA is more likely the game for you. However, if you rather the reverse, better gameplay sacrificed for lesser graphics and licences, then PES may be your game.
My experience having played PES for so many years and then playing FIFA recently, I felt the dribbling and shooting to be restricted and gameplay arcadey. It wasn't fluid, and thats not football. PES on the other hand is a simulation of the game... more realistic.
Think of the two games like this - FIFA is an automatic transmission vehicle and PES is the manual. (Do you think I'm reading to much into this? LOL!)
I'd be interested to hear peoples thoughts who've gone the other way - played FIFA all their life and then trialed PES. Did they feel the same? Or did I miss something PES is lacking?

Do they still have the weird meter bar which is extremely difficult to understand and the prefixed instructions for freekicks and corners. If they are in the affirmative then I doubt whether it is fun let alone the gameplay.

Its very easy to dismiss a rival game

To the threadstarter,
You've got to ask yourself what sort of game you prefer mate.
Konami are mixing the challenging wont be beaten Arcade attitude with a realistic football sim. Fifa like alot of EA's games always looks the part but plays dog dirt (only the last few).

I played last years FIFA (didnt own it played it xmas day at my cousins). I Didn't like it. I'll play this years when i get time. I certainly won't just dismiss the game.
It would surprise me if FIFA has made groundbreaking steps as reported by many. Most of EA's sales on the FIFA series have been made through a constant steady stream of Advertising through high priority websites/ audiences and programmes and not through word of mouth fan base and fan appreciation like PES.

It really does depend. Theres strong arguments for both, you could say if you want a quick kick about with no serious involvements play FIFA.. but that can easily be done on 1* with pes anyway. OPS2M says PES has lost some of its pick up and play ability because the series has moved onto a more serious gaming level. I disagree as the game will only be as hard as the player wants it to be. FIFA I think has its very own career mode and with FIFA you dont need to spend hours editing or ordering a max drive to get all the players.

My opinion. If you already have PES and enjoy playing it. Keep enjoying it and when the time comes have a bash at one of your mates copies of FIFA or request a trial go at GAME.. If FIFA has changed and turned the corner then fair do's to EA.. but until i have played it myself i wont be making too harsh a judgement. I agree with you you shouldn't pass up FIFA as i wont be doing but well done to you for recognising a true gaming principle. I love PES5 and the series as a whole has been excellent i'll always make room for other titles but only if they match up to whats on offer by Konami.

Pro is still the better game, but to be honest fifa has improved more from last year then pro. But fifa's striking problems are awful, make a run with midfield, waiting for strikers to make theirs, you can wait all day there not going to move lol. They will just gorm. Also, when playing against comp, the oppositon just bladders the ball for no good purpose into the crowd.....When you've played pro and then go on fifa you're like "WTF? this is so not realistic, which is damn true, they can't find the secret recipe of pros realism". GOOD OLD PRO!

there is no point in buying fifa,i bought it this year to pass the time until pes was released and although i was suprised about the quality of the game i have never played it since i got pes5.If you play fifa after pes it will be like steping out from a ferrari into a nissan sunny.

hey i'm hooked as much as the next pro evo fan amazingly hard game and fustrating at first you start to realise this game aint shite you just got to think football not computer game, plus i think alot of people still thinkin of pro 4, right anyway bak to this about fifa yea fifa aint bad not had a chance to play this years game but i bet it aint tht bad, the things what let fifa down r the graphics come there heads r huge and they look like lil fat people lol they move like they have a set routine not much freedom, then u have pro where i found out today tht ur so loose on the ball it like a proper footy game i think thats where people are finding it hard because of the realism of the game where if u turn tht quick u can lose the ball on like fifa tht ball is stuck to you, i'll give you one or two sentence answer to the fifa and pro evo arguement.
Pro Evo 5: you want realise, a game what will make you think and make your brain work harder and really get that footbal brain on over time then get pro evo for the sheer realism of it all.

Fifa: if you dont mind the lil chubby people with big heads running round then get this game, this is the game i call goals galore, if you want goals then this is the game, its an arcade game, the onli thing it has on pro is the offical liecencses (sorry for the spellings)

Pro Evo simulation
Fifa: arcade
thats the best way anyone can put it let us no wot you think
