To answer the inital question - I don't think FIFA is worth getting after buying PES...
My opinion on this topic, having played both Pro Evo 5 and FIFA 06 is simple - if good graphics and official licences/names grabs you over gameplay, then FIFA is more likely the game for you. However, if you rather the reverse, better gameplay sacrificed for lesser graphics and licences, then PES may be your game.
My experience having played PES for so many years and then playing FIFA recently, I felt the dribbling and shooting to be restricted and gameplay arcadey. It wasn't fluid, and thats not football. PES on the other hand is a simulation of the game... more realistic.
Think of the two games like this - FIFA is an automatic transmission vehicle and PES is the manual. (Do you think I'm reading to much into this? LOL!)
I'd be interested to hear peoples thoughts who've gone the other way - played FIFA all their life and then trialed PES. Did they feel the same? Or did I miss something PES is lacking?
