Is PES 2012 on PC the way to go?

I have PES12 on my PS3 at the moment but as I have said on other threads I'm somewhat disappointed with the game, I'm playing and enjoying FIFA12 much more at the moment but I do hope to return to PES12 soon.

PES12 clearly needs more work and I guess there will be numerous option files which may help improve the look of the game over the coming weeks but I cannot see how this will help with the gameplay, unless Konami release another patch.

It seems that if you have a good PC and plan to use option files then the PES12 on PC is the way to go because the option file makers can do so much more with improving the game, from graphical improvements to better gameplay, removing scripting etc.

Is this true? If so I might need to buy for my PC, I have a Cyberpower gaming PC so I guess it's well equipped for a game like PES.

Anyone out there that can confirm the PC route is the way to go?

I play PES on PC for years now... but I also get the full version for PS3 one or two weeks before release as a press-related person. What shocks me most - apart from option files - is the lack of anti-aliasing! 1st they make the game only 720p and then it's not even AA! The graphics on PS3 (XBox idk) look horrible!

If you got the right set up pc version is the bollox.
The amount of customization for it is amazing. My favorite mod from last year had to be fifa commentary , and it worked better than the default commentary.

You dont need a great PC to play Pro Evo. Anything remotely suited for gaming bought within the last 5 years should do. However the fact that you state you have a 'cyberpower' PC means you dont know a lot about PCs, which in turn prob means you aint got that good a PC.....but like I said...PES will run very well on any old piece of junk.

Having said that, depending on your setup, you may have to make a lot of driver tweaks (I use RadeonPro, MSI afterburner and edited .ini files) in order to get the game running smoothly as Konami have made little to no effort to cater for the various PC setups.

If you are still on Windows XP though, then it should run great out of the box.

This last pes runs smoother than pes 2011. You don't have to worry, I use a Intel T5470 1.6GHz cpu and a nvidia 8600mgt, which was a decent gaming rig in 2007, 4,5 years ago, like MatDerKater said.

But MatDerKater, were you too lazy to google that Cyberpower is a custom game pc builder? ;)

Oh dear, you clearly know very little about PC's yourself. Cyberpower are a company that make purpose built gaming PC's for those of us fortunate enough to afford one they can be configured to such a high spec they put gaming consoles to shame. Having said this I do generally use by PS3 for gaming. I only ask about PES12 for PC because I have read that option files for the PC are far better and can improve the actual gameplay itself rather than just better graphics etc.
Hence the question in the first place.

Thankyou for your response and I'm glad you took the time to google cyberpower.
I have had my PC for about 2 years now and when I bought it spent a fortune on the best graphics card, etc etc but have yet to try PES on the PC, I'm seriously tempted but would just like to know if it us easy downloading the various option files you can get?

Well I build and overclock my own gaming PC.....

.....Next big upgrade will be getting done for BF3.

If you have such a great PC, then gaming on a PS3 is a bit mental....I think.

I do use my PC to do alot of gaming, just for some reason I have always stuck with the playstation when it comes to PES but I think I will go over to the PC this year in the hope that some good option files will improve the game, I'm just not convinced with it so far, I have the US version at the moment on PS3 and it's just not doing it for me.

I used to create option files for the pc that changed the game play and was probably the first to put them out there for public use. Had over two hundred thousands downloads for them over the years

I now create them for the ps3 and there much more accurate than the pc files as I edit every player individually to create the most realistic game play

How do I optimize PES 12 on my PC? Its relatively new and has Windows 7. The demo works well sometimes but then stutters at other times. Is it to do with drivers? Im clueless in this regard

Glad I never had any problems with my self-build PCs with any PES title ever.... And BF3 will run smooth in 3D too, uh! *brag*g* ;)

Okay I have the PS3 version of PES US, but my friend has the PC version....am I friggin missing something or is the PC version far superior than the PS3 version?

Not just in terms of graphics etc, but my mate was running a few watch matches to bump his points up so he could get the club lineups from the content section and used Man Utd v Arsenal. Well bugger me sideways, both teams were playing lovely passing football, a far cry from when I used these sides on the PS3 to watch.

What the hell, is the PC version much different in that the AI actually passes the ball about? Also the ball physics seem better and the gameplay is perfect on 0 gamespeed?

Can anyone who has the PS3 and PC versions tell me is there any huge differences that they have noticed, because the PC version looks and plays unbelievably and this is without the first patch being updates.

Thanks

I also have the US version of PES2012 on PS3 and although I initially felt disappointed with the game it has now grown on me after eventually finding the right assist slider positions and camera angle (mid range) which makes it work for me.
Anyway, I have a top end gaming PC so thought I would give PES 2012 demo 2 a go last night and there are obvious striking differences for me, the most obvious being the graphics are far superior which although not essential certainly helps and the gameplay compared with the retail copy of PES is better, I can't believe how different it felt, I thought it was my imagination at first but it clearly plays better, smoother some how, I checked the demo and it has been patched already by a mod so that would explain it, I just didn't think it could be this much of an improvement and it's only the demo. Plus I love the fact there is so much more you can do with PC version, as in add scoreboards, camera angles, nets, etc etc.
These modifiers really spend time getting the game to perfection. I read that they can even change the speed of shots, take away blur effects on replays, stop replays altogether if you want amongst many other things and it can all be done via the numerous patches you can get online.
I'm defo buying PES for PC when it comes out on Friday!

Well it's really intriguing me I have to say, I'm watching Milan v Marseille on his rig right now which is by no means a top end machine, just a basic dual core, 2gb ram and decent graphics card. But the game looks stunning. The players look brilliant and like you say the game is smoother. Also there doesn't seem to be any cheap shit going on, through balls which are good are going to their targets and others are being cut out, nobody is screaming round the pitch at 100mph and both teams are actually passing the ball.

This seems a world away from my version 1.01 on the PS3.

Yes, you do excellent patches, I used your patch for PES 11. You obviously spend a great deal of time getting it to perfection, thanks for that.

I guess my only comment here is that on PS3 option files you cannot do some of the other stuff that is achievable on PC's (graphical stuff etc) but then not everyone is that fussed about getting the game to such a perfect state so long as it plays a great game if footy.

Yep, no doubt for me now that PC is the way to go.
Each PC owner may have a slightly different experience based on their PC graphics card, RAM, hard drive and all the other snazzy stuff that goes into PCs.
I have had my PC for 2 years now and if I remember rightly I spent something like£600 just on the graphics card, when I put it into perspective that's more than than the PS3 cost me!

Consoles have all that "snazzy" stuff as well .

Of course they do, what I'm getting at is that a gaming PC can differ so much depending on specification and how it has been built if a custom build whereas a PS3 is a PS3 and may only differ in terms of hard drive size. Don't get me wrong, I have a PS3 and an XBox 360 and both are awesome bits of kit but having played PES2012 on PC has shown me the potential modifiers have with the PC that they don't have to the same extent on a console with it's certain limitations.

The guys at Pes Edit should basically be credited as developers as far as my game goes. Always use the PESEdit patches, and they're always of high quality.
