Is Podolski any good in ML?

So, first of all, I don't play with any OF. Podolski appears in my ML during the 2nd or 3rd season as youngster (17 yo). But his stats are really low. I checked on another ML that I was more advanced on time and he is 23 yo and the stats are still very low. I did not buy him in any case but now I'm curious.

Does he become any good if you buy and use him? Is it worth the investiment?
