Now, i am not wanting to bring up the Fifa vs Pro Debate again, because every man and his dog and his dogs fleas have argued this. I chose Pro because its the better stand out long term game. However, i do own every Fifa game since 1994, because they provide alternative footballing entertainment. Fifa will entertain me for maybe 7 nights, and Pro, the rest of the year. So that proves that i have always believed Pro has a better lifespan.
With that said i recently had a go on the Fifa demo on X Box. I do not own an X Box and am unfamiliar with the controls. However, i dominated for two minutes, hit the bar twice had 3 corners and every shot i hit, no matter how powerful, went perfect height at goal. It played like a Basketball game, Pass, Pass Pass Shoot. I was VERY dissapointed with this. I want a challenge in my games, and this Fifa feekls more like the 1999 days, when u cud score 20 overhead kicks a match.
Whether i buy it is a matter of bordem and finances and Girlfriend dumping situations all rolled into one, but this game did not convince me to spend 40 pounds on it. And anyone who is seriously undecided about which to purchase (Pro or Fifa) please do yourself a favour and from a respect + enjoyment + lifespan perspective, choose PRO EVO SOCCER 4!!!

Amen brother. Can't emphasise the crappyness of FIFA enough. I vote you as the worlds best forum member

How about a PES Insight awards ceremony?

Meh, I'm getting it for the same reason you said. It's a soccer game alternative. Plus the career mode looks miles ahead of PES's or WE's this year.

i cant wait though, winning eleven 8 doesn't come out until the end of winter here...

Well I have the real deal. FIFA 2005 was released in Australia 30th Sept for the Xbox so I pretty much had it the day it was released.

Now, I'm a PES3 aficionado HOWEVER I'm not closed minded & can appreciate a great Football game regardless of who develops it (expect maybe TIF series!). And FIFA 2005 is just that, a great Football game. First & foremost it's FUN to play as well as challenging & rewarding. The game play is as smooth as a baby’s bottom & shooting is achievable from all realistic distances. It’s a well rounded game that I can see myself playing even when PES4 is out. Don't get caught up in the PES vs FIFA bullshit. Experience both yourself & make your own mind up. You may be pleasantly surprised with FIFA 2005 & actually enjoy it! I did!

LIFES TOO SHORT, PLAY THEM BOTH!

Hmmm, I dunno. I mean each year I do try to get into Fifa, but after a few games, I just get bored. It just feels too rigid and repetative. By the end of a few matches all the features come to nothing and the game just feels like the previous version. This year's could be different though.

Yeah, agree with you Dario, sometimes I will myself to like Fifa, but i just cant. So there is no point, and I doubt I'll even bother with it. Just a rental for a night I guess will do.

Pro is by far the best game as fifa its to easy to score and every player feels the same, yes they have license's but gameplay is what matters and if you're that bothered by names change them yourself. All players on pro play and feel different, pro looks better as well in my opinion, fifa only concentrates on looks when gameplay is most important. Buy pro and not fifa

I am a PES Convert, I have played Fifa since Fifa International Soccer came out and have religious brought every single version. With the exception of Fifa 2000 which was totally different from Fifa 99, they have not progressed in anyway shape or form. I downloaded the Demo of 2005 with the hope that Fifa have started to listen to their consumers, but the sad fact is the only thing the Fifa has over Pro is the rights to display the correct names. Having played Pro 3 since it's release on the PC I have not looked back, neither have I missed playing Fifa. If you want to play a realistic football game choose PRO if you want to score 20 plus goals then choose FIFA it is as simple as that

My Australian friend, I do kind of feel like you, but the others are quite right. I have played the game (FIFA 2005) since it came out last week as I HAD TO (Bloody hell) review it for our magazine and it is not good. We gave it 77% and we were GENEROUS in my sole oppinion.
Yeah, I agree that here and there you need different soccer gaming experience but FIFA Is not that, at least not to me. I do enjoy more playing games from the early '90s like GOAL!, Sensible Soccer etc. than FIFA.

FIFA suffers from few major problems within gameplay and that's what will keep it down until they fix it.

- The game is based TOO MUCH on motion capture so whatever you start doing you have to wait until the whole motion capture ends. You can't stop it or alterate it.

- Ball physics have nothing to do with the realism, and YES every bloody shot is goal hight. Actually, my collegue here in our office and I actually played it like this: we count kicks above the bar as a score (Like an Aussie Footy here, or Rugby), not goals :) Trust me, that's A CHALLENGE!

- The game has no "soul" whatsoever. It's cold as bloody Ice Vodka. You can't just get into it. A lot of features and modes, teams, players etc. All the licensing crap, atmosphere, endorsments, soundtrack and other crap is litteraly JUST LIKE A HOLYWOOD MOVIE; after you get out of the theater you forget what you just watched.. Massive production, a lot of money involved, but the end product is BIG DISAPPOINTMENT.

- Graphics? My Goodness, PES4 on Xbox kicks FIFA's BUTT. Player models in FIFA are funny as: BIG heads, small BODY; every player is the same height; at least 60% of players DO NOT look like their real life counterparts and what is even WORSE is the fact that many players have nothing in common with their real life counterparts. For example, Mihajlovic is one of the worlds best free kick takers and he is NOT right foot kicker (at least they could got this right). Many others are F@#$%^ UP as well.
Imagine what would die hard PES (like myself) fans say on this if Konami did this.

- Every year I have to listen (and watch unfortunately) Danny Issac's (FIFA producer) BS about his new FIFA features etc... and how they have coparable gameplay to PES/WE, but it's always all crap. And final thing, if it is true that EA has payed SONY to stop the sales of PES4 DEMO in Virginmegastores than I am SPEECHLESS.

I ain't spending one cent on EA Sports anymore. There are FAR better alternatives than FIFA.

Not sure my friend that's why I said "if it is true..."; apparently someone that works in Virginmegastores posted this info on other forums.
