Actually I disagree with Justice and Spurs Clock regarding the passing delay. If you press pass instantly, why should the game get to decide you have to wait until the player is well balanced and set to kick the ball?
If he stabs it, uses his wrong foot, or misdirects the pass, then that is the game player's problem for being hasty.

The CPU shouldn't be at liberty to make these decisions, it's supposed to be the player in full control.

If you went 10 games without being fouled then you're doing something wrong. I draw half a dozen or so fouls per game. You have to draw the player in and get them to commit, otherwise they'll just take the ball off you. Which is what I suspect is happening.

I'm not sure what you mean by delay in passing. If you mean the player should pass as soon as you press the button, then this would be unnatural and arcadey. It's just added realism, by having the player be on the right footing before they can make the pass. No different to the shooting mechanics.

And if you keep falling foul to the chipped through ball pass, change your tactics instead of using the default. Sit deeper, man mark etc.

Agree with all of this especially the fouling point currently doing a ML with AC Milan and constantly on the end of some shocking fouls, my only complaint is the lack of yellow or red cards being dished out for the fouls.

I have to agree with Steve Justice and Spursclock. It's not realistic to be able to pass that quickly, and would just create the ping pong nonsense Fifa has, which is one of the things that breaks that game for me along with the AI's ridiculously quick close control skills which leave you zero chance to defend when they go nuts with both. It's not realistic to swing your foot back then forward to make a pass and do it instantly. It's already a little quick in PES as it is. So, you are in full control as far as I'm concerned because of that.

Ye see what you're saying Rat, it's not going to be an accurate pass every time, much like it wouldn't be in real life, but in my opinion the player should at least ATTEMPT it if that's what you want him to do.

Nothing more frustrating for me than seeing a perfect through run wasted because your player has dwelled on the ball for an extra second or two.

There is also the issue of the CPU reacting to button presses rather than player animations which mean they intercept/telegraph your passes unfairly.

I don't see a delay in passing in this game. You need close control of the ball so that you can pass quickly if you want to.

Some people sprint a lot which causes the ball get far from the player's feet. Of course, when you press pass, the player needs to get to the ball first before it is able to pass the ball.

Yep, this too. Close control is your friend.

I have to say im surprised by what I've read here. I've been on Fifa for donkey number of years, due to the superior presentation, dribbling and other stuff, but I've picked PES 2016 this year, and its in no way an easy decision because ton of people will queue up on launch day just to get Fifa 16, most of which wouldn't have played the demo yet and are just blind faith to the franchise.

I tried PES 2016 demo and my was I surprised, its a whole engine overhaul, a ton of new animations makes the pitch livelier than Fifa 16 does. Which is why im puzzled by some of the comments here. Granted its not the same game anymore, but I'm liking and is giving thumbs up to the changes thus far, for a game with such a huge step forward in gameplay, i can put up with a few quirks here and there.

Have to say im relieve, im so done with Fifa and its FUT grabbing my money opening packs.

i can never understand why a lot of people insist that it must be 1 or the other, Does it not eat away at these sort of people that there is a football game available that i for no real reason have decided that i simply do not want to own

Real football fans get both

Completely untrue.

Of course, it doesn't have to be one or the other, I have owned both in the past. Football games can be very time consuming, especially when you start delving into career mode/ML, so for that reason alone many fans will only buy one of them.

Hate to agree with an arsenal fan again but that comment is silly. If one is better than the other buying both is a waste of £40+

The only justification I could give for buying both is if all your mates had Fifa and you wanted to play them and be competitive as well as enjoying a proper football game when playing on your own. All my mates will get Fifa but I'm still not going to do it

I played only PES until the Xbox 360/PS3 versions then only Fifa til 13, then skipped a year then back to PES 2015 and now 16. I have no allegiance I just always get the game I think is best and right now PES is great and Fifa is awful.

The flaws are the keepers and fouls but its fair on both teams and it doesn't take away from the pure gameplay, just the realism. Hopefully both will be patched

I only ever bought both for a couple of years because either one was sorely lacking in the something the other had in terms of gameplay and you'd go between the two, as neither gave you an adequate level of satisfaction individually. Since Pes 14, I haven't bothered with Fifa. Pes 16 has its flaws, but nothing that makes me want to play Fifa, so from a personal perspective there is no reason to purchase it.

Enjoying every bit of it. I hate to agree with IGN but its possibly the best soccer/football game yet. Take a couple hours and set the club names and kits right and u'll be set.

Anyway, don't be bothered by what others think, if u like the demo, the full version is no difference, the commentary is a lot better, there actually so much changes to the game I can't even begin to criticize it. The menu is a whole lot better as well.

yeah i love the demo even though fifa looks great, it's about how it feels when you play it in your hands and pes is just superior , i mean don't get me wrong i still am playing fifa 15 career to this day untill i get pes BUT that's only playable on slow world class full manual and with expert sliders to make is realistic LOL fifa is unplayable on default settings and im sick of this adjusting all the time, i loved the days of pes 2013 on superstar and just playing the game and thats how im gonna roll in 16 :)

I've played both FIFA 16 and PES 16 (on the PC) and I have problems with both, but I do feel there are less restrictions in PES. I don't automatically dislike a game but I do have a memory so if a series doesn't impress me over time then I usually assume that won't change and that may create a little reluctance to that franchise but I would always still try it, thus far I have yet to be surprised.

Onto PES 16 (for the PC), it just feels like skating on ice, the animations are very inconsistent. I feel Konami have been very sloppy in this area, I see a lot of collision detection and general weirdness, like players feet disappearing under the grass or through the ball, I really don't see how they could have messed this up, compared to 15 its all over the place.
Yes they've included some nice additions to the animation sequence which I'll admit is pretty to look at but overall in terms of how the animations affect play there doesn't seem to be the same weight to players and this, for me, drastically reduces the realism (we're heading into FIFA territory here).

I feel the game seems sped up with many animations not really matching what's happening, so attempting consecutive tricks can results in strange things happening like skipped animations and general inconsistency.

Also on the shooting there is a lot of variation but no substance, I like the added keeper reactions but I don't feel anything when I score, its as though the skill element to scoring is nil.

I won't go into too much detail now because I'm going to write a review but I feel the game doesn't feel realistic, on higher difficulty things tend to get rather silly (and broken) - I just don't feel it, in fact there are bits from 16 that would have made 15 the perfect game - it feels like a downgraded or patched 15 in that it gives you something but then takes something away and I feel sadly, for the PC version anyway, too much has been taken away. There are + points but so many negatives that in the end I went straight back to 15, luckily I got my refund off Steam.

Quick verdict: All fur-coat and no knickers
