Does anyone know how to score long shots on 2009, even with Adriano or shearer I can barely score from out of the 6 yard box. Has anyone got a technique or a button to press to leven the mundality of my game. Thank you

The best thing for scoring from distance is catching the keeper unaware. Take early shots or if you have to turn and run inside around 25-35 yards wait for someone to run infront of you, time it so just as they are passing by you, you hit a shot.
They seem to work quite often for me, maybe it is just because ive practised and practised and practised some more at them while in BAL mode. Im sure you will find a rythem if you just keep trying from different situations.
One other thing, keep R1/RB held down when you shoot as it gives the ball a better trajectory for distance shooting.

in exibition i have scored a few with steven gerrard , i usually have the ball at feet and hold the sprint button take 1 or two touches on a run and hit it , outside the box doing that its usually on target and never at the keeper but i spose it depends on position on the pitch and who takes the shot , gerrards the perfect guy!!!

if you have space then press LB and RB (xbox 360) or L1 and R1 (ps3) and that will make the player kick the ball ahead of him slightly, then just press shoot and it will go dead straight and will get some power behind it.

Whilst there are lots of features that affect the shooting a double tap of the X (shoot) button has the effect of putting much more power into the shot whilst keeping it lower.

Thanks MatTheCat that seems to help alot and I am getting much clser to the goal. Unfortunately i only have a keyboard so x's and RB's confuse me.

I've scored edge of the box and have come close to scoring from 25-30 yards... keeper made a good diving save
It is actually mainly directing the ball in the right area, if you shoot normally it will go straight at the keeper but if you aim it with the arrows it will go towards the corners but it can go horribly bent, like times the commentators go its closer to the corner flag!! sometimes it actually is true

Look at it from a Real-Life perspective. If you're legging it with the ball and you take a shot, chances are it won't be on target. There's even less of a chance if you're under pressure. Try and work an opening, if you have the chance use that button combo for knocking the ball forward a yard (although this only works really with players like Lampard and Scholes who like to belt the ball). Also take into account where you are on the pitch and also your strongest foot. Inside the box pressing R2 after a shot usually gives more precision.
