Hello friends,

Last night, I had a dream about the future of WEPES... or more specifically, WEPES kits. I will share my dream with you, but first - a little backstory........This is an open invitation to kit creators willing to provide content for more than just themselves. It's an invitation to a team looking to become the face of WEPES kit and content creation. It's an invitation to become a legend in the world of WEPES. No single person can create every kit for this game with the quality it deserves, but a team can!

Who's interested?

Your story reminds me mine (I started creating turfs and kits on PES4 or 5).

Your idea of gathering Kitmakers is awesome.
But being already member of a French team (CYPES), I don't really see myself being part of this (or not yet).....unless.....
If you want to join a Team, we'll be pleased to welcome you.
Even though I'm related to CYPES, I'm still free to share Kits to the whole community (btw, I'm almost known as Shemsu-Heru on French Community, Twitter - Miklan being a former/relic name) and have no obligation in time or numbers (I work at my own pace, quality over quantity).

So feel free to be a part of it.

Hui, I feel honored to see my nick there =) thank you!

It's a nice idea, really. For me, personally, it's just something I like to do when I find the time to do so. Being in a group would make me feel like I have to contribute or to have to work on kits, but I don't always want to.

Every year I try to create the best Bundesliga there is; I never use option files for German teams, I create all the teams and players myself, try to recreate their tactics as faithfully as possible, and give them kits that look as realistic as possible. And this takes up so much time of my year every fall, but to me it's worth it. And because of that it's also very nice to get mentioned by someone else who is utterly great at kitmaking, like you!

So, long story short: Nice dream, I hope you can make something out of it, I just feel "better" when working independently, I think. Nevertheless I like to share some of my stuff too, of course.

I think I lost my point somewhere while writing this xD

Not to worry my friends! I'm glad to see you guys are already spreading your gifts out there! :)

I shall continue to do what I can on my front... I think mostly my passion is for the English leagues so at least we all seem to be doing different regions anyway haha!

It was moreso an idea but I respect both of your wishes and I thank you both for what you contribute to this fanbase. :)

Just a quick heads up friends, I'm tweaking some of my existing kits. Small things for some, not-so-small things for others (turns out the Adidas GK kits have panels on the sides which judging by the Real Madrid GK kit dropping tomorrow, can be different colours to the rest of the jersey!).

I'm also creating variants of some kits for those of you who love to choose, or who wish to do a European run. An example of this is Man United's home kit, in which they have a variant with black shorts/socks for away days at clubs such as Everton - and then their famous white shorts/socks combo for European nights.

I'll do this with any team which has them, so long as they're actually in the game. If anyone knows of a combo which I don't make - but is creatable by mashing up some of my kits - feel free to do so credit-free (you'll be putting more work into it than I probably have!)

Finally, for clubs which play in leagues where sponsors aren't added to kits until release (e.g., Marseille's plain kit released - sponsors applied in Ligue 1), I'll release just the plain sponsorless versions of the kits so you guys can apply league/cup sponsors as you please. This prevents me only making one type of kit, and allows anyone to modify them however they want.

Hello friends,

Last night, I had a dream about the future of WEPES... or more specifically, WEPES kits. I will share my dream with you, but first - a little backstory:

I joined the WEPES community many years ago, under a different name. Back in the days when Henry, Totti and Collina were on the cover. My first game was PES 4, brought as a Christmas gift because my older brother always owned FIFA and would never let me play - so I was bought PES.

I played that game so often, and then I played the next PES, and the next PES. Eventually, I found out how to make kits. I was terrible at first. I would use my computer's paint software, and my kits sucked big time! But I kept practising, and kept playing.

One day, I found the online forums, and it finally felt like I had a place to meet like-minded people who loved the game - and some who loved making kits. But the only problem was that not a lot of people made kits - and those who did, only made custom kits for their ML clubs.

That brings me to my dream. The community today is far more talented and creative than I could have ever imagined. Every time I see a kit on here, it looks better than the ones ripped from the actual demos - and that's not me exaggerating. I love seeing the work by the likes of Caveras, Miklan, Akiel and so many more! There are so many talented individuals, but what if we could be more than just individuals?

What if we could become a team? A team who covers any and all kits they can dream of. A team that creates content so beautiful and detailed, it surpasses Konami's kits.

I believe, the creators on this forum could be that team. Alone, we are talented, we can create a lot of kits - but is it possible to create thousands of kits and live our lives at the same time? Together, we could change WEPES kit creation, and it would be legendary.

This is an open invitation to kit creators willing to provide content for more than just themselves. It's an invitation to a team looking to become the face of WEPES kit and content creation. On that note, let me just say that I noticed just one thing that bothers me about most of your kits: the team badges on the chest and shorts are always rather blurry, as if you used some weird blurry resizing method.

But don't misunderstand me: I'm not saying, hey do this or that, you suck =) except for that little thing I love all your work, but you know that already!

Hey man, thanks for pointing it out! Do you mind giving me an example of one of these blurry kits? Whenever I open the files to 100% resolution, they seem to look as un-blurry as the other logos/sponsors but I have noticed sometimes in the past that certain parts look blurry after scaling them down or rotating them. Are you using Photoshop, because for example, I can't get my Dortmund shoulder patterns anywhere near as crisp as yours. :crymore:

To be honest, I think it's because for the past 5+ years I've always used GIMP for things like this, and I've only recently managed to get Photoshop to run on my fossil of a laptop lol! I'm slowly figuring the latter out, but any advice would be greatly appreciated! :)

Design elements on another document which is twice the size gives great results (Photoshop for sure, Gimp I think so), and Using a pencil instead of a brush for small details is more efficient (Straight line or 45°) in rescaling:
I did it this way for BVB kits, and I find shoulder patterns quite good (It will never be perfect)

Haha =) I'm mostly talking about the team emblems on the chest and shorts only.

Yeah, I'm using Photoshop. For resizing elements I usually use bicubic scaling and apply a slight sharpening method afterwards.

Just given it a try, changed my settings to bicubic sharpening as it tells me this is better for size reduction, and if anything it looks even more pixelated than what I was doing before - and even worse if I applied any form of sharpening afterwards!

Here's my original Man Utd home kit made in GIMP, along with a quick Adidas template with a 1000x1000px logo scaled down bicubic-style to be the same size as the badge inside the shield.

I've done a comparison between my Barca kit and the one from the PES 2019 demo too, and aside from the fact I've used a different badge to Konami, the resolutions look similar to me... but then I don't really have much knowledge of software, I've always just done the minimum and got out hahaha!

I wish I knew how to do it as it's frustrated me immensely...

You don't have to use 1000x1000px images and resize them, I usually take the ones from http://peslogos.blogspot.com and then resize them. Just try to resize them with different options in your program and see what looks best, there is no "definitive" way =) But your examples already look better! With your ManUtd kit above, the chest emblem looks fine, the shorts still have the blurry version I was talking about earlier =)

Now, what I just noticed, is that the sponsor logos (Adidas/Nike/Puma etc as well as the "KOHLER" for example on the ManUtd kit) are also blurry, I think you notice it yourself when you compare your adidas logos with the ones from Konami. But that's all I have to criticize, hope you don't take it the wrong way, because everything else is great!

And don't worry too much about it, even Konami get some things wrong and when a new game is released, many kits have pixelated sponsor logos or other mistakes that they fix with the data packs later =)

Here's how my Photoshop resizes an exemplary Barcelona logo with 512x512px resolution:

As you can see, Bicubic is the best solution with Photoshop, I guess. I always use the (Smooth Gradients) variant. Automatic resizing adds some ugly sharpening artifacts, Bilinear is a little blurrier, and Nearest Neighbour (or pixel-perfect) scaling is obviously not recommended.

Btw, you didn't have to hide or delete your whole blog! :\

Yeah I've been watching a lot of tutorials and I'm kind of getting it now... I agree with you from that example provided that Bicubic does look the clearest/best visually so I think I'm gonna have to just learn Photoshop haha!

My main frustration was/is because every kit's quality looks the same to me - both my own and every other I can find on Google Images - so and every tutorial I found was on about scaling images up as opposed to scaling down, so it felt like I was running in circles - but thanks a lot for your explanation! :)

As for the blog, I'm looking into alternatives because despite you guys maybe saying it's fine modifying every URL to download individual kits, I don't want you guys having to waste your time doing something because Blogger is missing a feature it should own in the first place. :(

...oh, and now that I've seen what amazing things Photoshop can do, I want to go back to the drawing board and make something as good as possible for you all! See you guys soon!

P.S., The logos on the shorts went blurry because GIMP distorts an image when you rotate it, meaning the vertical logos mostly looked fine and the sleeve and shorts logos were always rotated after shrinking making them even more distorted/blurred. Would not recommend people to use GIMP for this, but the program is magnificent for a lot of other things - just not so much kit creation!

Never scale images up! =) Upscaling always reduces the image quality.

Why don't you just add a link to the full image under the pictures of your kits? =)

And yeah, I know a lot of people use GIMP, but either it's the people or the program - usually their kits look pretty rough.
