Konami need to improve

This is not a grumble about PES 2011 as such, as I have posted before, I love the new game. However, Konami need to step up to the plate in other areas.

For example, putting gameplay videos up with professional difficulty gameplay - what's the point - You can only judge the true strength of the AI and the game as a whole when they show top player level gameplay.

Another gripe is YET AGAIN the squad rosters are out of date at launch - Ibrahimovic still at Barcelona for example - come on, how much effort does it take Konami to just put the players in the right teams? Most of us will do it in about 45 mins at most, and configuring the correct tactics for the teams isn’t that difficult or time consuming either.

These examples of rank-amateur slackness that has crept into PES production over the last few years is only going to put people off what is now a very good game, and reinforce the stereotype that Konami are the Irish builders of game production.

A bit more professionalism would do Konami and PES the world of good. Its no good finally making a game with good gameplay and dropping the ball so unnecessarily in other areas. There are no excuses.

I agree with you friend, but unfortunately as long as everyone else says "oh but they will update right after the release" it will keep happening. I don't think it's excusable specially on a game that has a new installment every year to launch it outdated, and it is very disrespectful with people that can't afford to get it updated right away (yes, not everyone in the world is connected to the internet 24/7), but as long as the majority doesn't care, why would the producers?

The producers should care because as I said, it makes Konami look amateurish. PES has taken a battering because of the last three games, and Konami doing avoidable things like this, which just hurt their reputation even more, is just plain dumb. Hopefully tho, PES 2011 is a sign that they are getting their act together as a whole. Lets hope so!

The only truly annoying thing in pes 2011 that I really want them to change is

- advantage rule not existing
- replays of every single foul
- fast set pieces, they barely exist
- penalty system , i just don't like it

That bashing of konami reminds me of a review of the Castlevania: Harmony of Despair game that I Read. It starts with "Konami doesn't stop surprising it's fans. Negatively." hilarious.

I think the worst thing of all as I probably posted on a different thread, is they had time to implement helmets, barrels and candy for you to kick around, NES backgrounds on stadiums and so on, but yet they couldn't bring themselves to spend this time on some much needed game features and improvements.

I think that just comes down to a lack of focus - this is what we want to achieve with the game, everything else is irrelevant. They need this attitude to succeed. Konami have been dicking around with fluffy unimportant bits on their games for years, they are Japanese tho, so a bit of madness now and then is to be expected. For all the excentricity and sheer blind idiocy you get at times, you often get as much brilliant things as well.

I liken Konami to an Italian super car maker or perhaps Lancia - capable of both monumental damp eyed, ball bashing lunacy and sheer brilliance at the same time.

I don't like the new Game Plan set up; its good to be innovative but on things that really need improvements, not on things that works perfectly.

alll great points! Agreed!

The rosters not being updated is a joke! unacceptable! and I dont want to hear, "well it takes 2 minutes, just do it yourself" NO! playing online you can't use your updated roster, you have to use what Konami gives you. I sure hope they are releasing an update in the next few weeks to update the rosters!

another good point. What was wrong with the old format? It was just fine! I don't like this new one myself.

I believe there will be a patch 2 weeks from release to update all the rosters. Though not 100% sure. But I read it somewhere here I believe. Well they'd better.

- advantage rule not existing
- replays of every single foul
- fast set pieces, they barely exist
- penalty system , i just don't like it
Agreed. Anyway, they also need to make the game harder and also fix some issues like for example when you make a lofted pass, the player takes ages to shoot. It looks bad anyway.

And PC gameplay too fast...

Not updating the squads could be explained by the game going gold roughly 4-weeks before release, so right around the time the window closes.

That said, not having the update ready for day one when you fire up the game is pure laziness. 4 weeks to edit what players can do themselves is just another chink in the game's armour and the sort of thing that dents its authenticity even more.
