I was playing pes5 online last night when ppl started complaining that the game was lagging all the time. I have a 2mb internet connection and nothing is running when i play online. Firewalls etc are all turned off too. I've tried putting the graphic details up and donw tho why this should make a difference i dont know cos i have a great graphics card. Anyone have any solutions because i dont want to have a bad rep online....im not doing too bad see.

Did you beat them? Sound like it may be a case of sour grapes. I always seem to get lag complaints especially when ive won 2 or 3 - 0

Anyway connection speed is all to do with location, the closer you are to who you are playing the better the connection, so what does it matter.

One thing to do is to turn off any auto update programs, I had one game where I won 5-0, guy said lag was unbelievable, I thought he was blagging until I saw auto update on my antivirus was doing its thing, oops.

It's when one player (usually a client) has a bad experience because everything they do and press is delayed, and their players jump about the screen as the internet connection updates itself. It makes playing awful because one-touch passes and shots are practically obsolete, and controlling your player in tight situations is useless, because it doesn't react fast enough. Usually happens if the host has a bad upload, or you are far away from each other...I'm sure someone will have a better technical explanation!!

yeah i got some major lag...last night was ok...but tonight was crazy. i just about managed to win 1-0 on both games luckily but the guy i was playing against really had a rough time too.

i dont think Konami's servers can handle all these games or the amount of people playing at once. either that or they've set up the servers in japan so all the europeans will have a tough time getting a good connection.

oh ok....so it isnt just me who is getting it. Phew. I juust wish that some morons wouldnt tell the whole lobby about it....i want to play dammit. And i think hawarkarem is right about konamis servers...they didnt expect so many people. I dont however think the servers are in japan. They cant be that dumb.

lol yeah...its very very unlikely in japan.

but from what I've read it works out that in one half of the game, one player hosts and in the other half, the other player hosts. is this correct?

and also, how are we to get out point across to konami? is there an official PES5 forum? I wanna know what their views are on all the complaints of lag.

I havnt heard about that changing hosts thing, however, i do think that konami should be informed because the lag is really getting bad now that the number players has increased.

did you ever stop to think the reason you won 2 or 3-0 were lag

just a thought...

To be completely honest, I was winning 3 - 0 first half tonight, second half started and the lag was disasterous. Honestly, and the play was a disgrace and by some utter fluke i got through the game winning 5 - 3 and ur man was like "wow what a game..." and i was like "The lag was unbelievable...are you hosting from a fucking caravan or something?" It was attrocious but he didn't believe me...so annoying. When I play someone, I always ask what the lag is like for them...and if they complain I don't want to play them cos it is just like cheating.

MIND YOU, THAT WAS THE ONLY GAME I HAD OF SERIOUS LAG in like 35.

Personally, i will happily take a little bit of lag...compared to what we got in PES4...now that was a joke. Fair enough its a bit annoying..but i have been playing online quite a bit and i think i got about 2 games with "bad" lag...which was a fraction of what i got with PES4...Go Konami!!!

I have heard that it's best to reset your PC before playing online. If you've been using P2P or downloading/uploading before playing, that may cause a bit of bandwidth to be used up. So reset before play might help.

Its usually to do with RAM being used up. Bandwidth is your connection speed ie 512k, 1MB, 2MB etc etc. Most important for PES5 is your UPLOAD speed. Which is usually 256k. But apparantly 128k will suffice for the game. When your opponent is hosting, you are downloading off their computer. But you can only download as fast as their upload speed. ie you can only take however much they can give at a time. If your lucky enough to find anyone with a higher upload than 256k..then your laughing. There should be no lag with them.

The lack of RAM will cause the stuttering in the game. Your bandwidth (internet connection) collects the data..the processer works with it..then sticks it in the RAM so you can see on your screen. This is happening millions of times a second...sometimes there'll be too much data for the RAM to hold so it'l skip sections of the game because it cant put it on the screen, which makes it look like its stuttering. If you run background programs like MSN, AOL, ICQ, Kazaa, MS Word, Notepad etc etc anything..it takes up RAM. All the internet based programs (MSN, AOL, Internet Explorer, Firefox) will suck up bandwidth as well as RAM. So close ALL programs before running the game to conserve RAM and, at times, bandwidth.

you should try to play with someone in the same city, that will fasten the speed, and get rid of the lag
