last cry for help before i quit pes for good

Hi everyone many would probably already of read me moaning about my friends tactics in pes on PS2 we have been playing since iss98 and he wins multiplayer tournaments every time its getting ridiculous he plays 4-3-3 runs down the wing cuts inside squares to striker and scores open goals. there is 6 of us and we nearly always lose by 5 goals each game
we all pick are dream teams from the game every year this year his line up is van der sar(gk)

sergio ramos(rb) ferdinand (cb) samuel(cb)dani alves(lb)

gerrard(dmf)
(amf)fabregas kaka(amf)

walcott (wf) ibrahimovic (cf) ribery(wf)

i have buffon,given,terry,vidic,puyol,chielini,g.milito,maicon.j.zannetti,demichelis,seedorf,cambiasso,scholes,park,v.bommel,totti,c.ronaldo,robinho,drogba,anelka,d.milito,lisandro

i have tried 4-4-2 man marking and lost 6-1 then i tried 5-2-3 and lost 8-0... i have beaten him in past but only every once in a blue moon...he was ranked number 1 in the world on fifa 09 ps3 at one point and has appeared on tv for a computer geek fifa tourney so i know he is good but surely these cheap PES tactics can be shunted as he has only scored about 10 goals outside the box in the last ten years lol

just to note again im talking pes on playstation 2 not ps3 guys anyway any guru out there who can help please do b4 i commit issevolutionprosuperstarsoccer suicide

I think your friend is just good at PES. You should play lots of matches on Top Player, and when you think you're ready, challenge him again.

i played his exact team on top player and beat the computer 3 times in a row - only conceding one goal in the 3 games then my m8 puts 8 goals past me lol

the problem is i am pretty good at the game but me along with every other player that has played him can find no way of stopping the tactic. what makes it worse is he still jumps up and cheers when hes 5-0 up scoring his 6th goal thats what winds alot of people up

buffon(gk)
maicon(rb) - vidic(cb) - terry(cb) - puyol(cb) /// in the same line
v vommel(dmf) [in the right side, in the centre half]- cambiasso(cmf) [near deffensive zone]- seedorf (amf) [in the left side,3/4]
c.ronaldo(sd for alves side) [near out the area]- d.milito(cf)[in the penalty place] - robinho (sd for ramos side) [near in the area]

Your friend plays the same way most people play online.

In master league online I played a high back 3 , also put offside trap on its in the quick settings menu IIRC (its the same menu you pick counter attacking,possesion game etc)

Also if hes a through ball merchant a strategy of Offside trap can put them off, a few offsides makes them think a bit.

The only downside is you need to press select and X for example which is a pain.

Also dont be scared to rush your goalkeeper off his line to intercept balls in his zone.

Hold X, Square and the run button, and your players will follow the ball like crazy , it's easier to get the ball of him

Mark his wingers and drop your side backs back to almost just behind your centre backs. Works every time for me...

wanted to know if maicon is level with the 3 cbs.. ive never really noticed a difference when changing attack arrows and ive never bothered with defence / attack settings before

and unfortunately i've played this game and its ancestors tens of thousands of times

and i also like the sly comments you seem to write at the end of most peoples posts

You've never played this game before it sounds like.

There are arrows in the game, but I think they are hidden in the GUI in 2011 version. Any decent editor shows them, and you can tweak them to get a really nice team movement in the game.

Wild@'s editor have a tactics editor included, you can save tactics and tweak all you want there.

CHARLIE14 - i tried your formation and even though i lost 5-0 it was my best game yet i missed a couple of sitters and 3 of his goals came from me pressing X in my own box

BIGBERRY- i just aint got the balls to play offsides against this dude the last time i did manage to beat him i played 5-4-1 but i proper scraped it and not sure how i scored 3 to be honest

MASTALEAGUE- tried that but set his players free for through balls at times
