I got REALLY pissed off after spending A LOT OF TIME reading people complaining about things that make PES3 realistic and same as real life football.
Since I have HUGE soccer gaming experience (since early 1980s) and since I played almost every soccer game ever made I have to say this:
I sat down, read ALL of the threads and comments and this is what I have come up with.
People are paradoxes and say things like, I LOVE PES3, ITS THE MOST REALISTIC SOCCER GAME EVER and then same people say how GK are too weak, refs are too strict, it's TOO HARD to score (since you can't just walk through defence and so on) etc ...
C'mon people, get real, first WATCH REAL FOOTBALL then compare it to PES3!!!
I played FIFA 2004 and have to say that I disagree with some people on this forum and other forums.
STOP MIXING TWO DIFFERENT TYPES OF FOOTBALL GAMES.
THERE ARE SIMULATIONS AND ARCADE FOOTBALLS, (and managers)
What makes that HUGE difference is GAMEPLAY!
And to have good Gameplay, regarding other things, REALISM is essential, and that's what is missing in FIFA (and other soccer games except WE and PES).
Ball physics - FAR BEHIND PES!
Passing - far behind PES
AI - far behind PES!
Player animation - AGAIN, FAR BEHING PES!
Moves - you can count them with your fingers of both hands. (in FIFA of course)
FIFA is TOO simple, too arcade...
License and online support are the only good things in FIFA and that’s what PES REALLY MISS (good commentary also).
Of the ball control - mates, in WE and PES, Of the ball control exists since ISS PRO EVO, so what's new in that???
I agree that there is no power bar in penalties, but that is actually good thing in PES otherwise Penalties would be EASY AS!, this way they are more unpredictable and DEPEND ON PLAYER ABILITY (as in REAL LIFE) AND YOUR FEELING, WHICH IS WHAT MAKES PES REALISTIC, got that guys??? Same thing for the Free Kicks!
Somebody said that PES3 is TOO HARD; IT'S HARD TO SCORE, AND COMPUTER SEEMS TO CHEAT AND SCORES MUCH EASIER.
Well I have to admit that this is the FIRST football simulation where you have to LEARN HOW TO DEFEND and to master that as well, and not just to concentrate on HOW TO SCORE A GOAL.
PES3 is the first game that made me think, and made me not to focus on winning only, but how to save the result, how to get 0-0, 1-1, and so on. Like in real life, it's not always necessary to win the game, but to go through in the next round.
In PES3 referee is more stricken, AS IT IS IN REAL LIFE, so stop whining about that as well,

In PES3, you have to BUILD UP your play and attack, to defend yourselves, you have to THINK and master your skills and moves to be able to score. (Isn’t that the whole idea of soccer, or is it just me???) It's not TOO HARD to score once you are in front of the keeper or have good chance, or found a hole in opponents defence, LIKE IN REAL FOOTBALL.
And goalkeepers ARE NOT WEAK, they are realistic. When was the last time you saw GK in real life to catch the ball when somebody blast it??? NEVER! What they do? They box it; punch it, whatever you're going to call it. Also, good free kicks, accurate shots are HARD TO STOP in reality, and that's how it is in PES3 as well. While In PES2 and in ALL FIFA series, GK are jumping like panthers catching EVERYTHING, which is unrealistic.
Even though FIFA now has totally different feeling than before, it's still ARCADE football, and you can compare it only to PES ARCADE!
PES3 is Football simulation and don't forget that.
But, I'm not saying that we should not try new FIFA. Arcade football is FUN as well, and I played club football, virtua striker 3, this is football, PES ARCADE, and I enjoy playing it from time to time, but I still prefer football simulations, which is, ONE AND ONLY, PES3 (and WE7)!!!
That’s where I find passion and satisfaction.
PES ARCADE is best arcade football, FIFA is in second place, Virtua Striker 3rd, CLUB Football 4th, This is football 5th, etc…
In Football simulations, there are ISS PRO EVO (1,2) WE(1,2,3,4,5,5FE, 6, 6I, 6JL, 6FE,7) and of course PES (1,2,3).
And that's how it is guys...
HOPEFULLY THERE ARE PEOPLE THAT FIND THEMSELVES IN THIS TEXT AND AGREE WITH ME. I know that many will disagree, but sorry guys that’s reality!
