Watty.

Rooney is a 'better all around player'? What exactly do you mean by that? By this you are saying in these categories Rooney wins more often than Ronaldinho:

1) Passing/Vision
2) Pure Athletic Ability
-a. Run
-b. Jump
-c. Lateral Movement
-d. Strength
-e. Conditioning
3) Dribbling/Technique/Ball Control
4) Shooting
-a. Technique (chips and misc difficult types)
-b. Accuracy
-c. Power
5) Activity without the ball / overall tactical IQ
6) Freekicks
-a. Shooting
-b. Passing
-c. Corners
7) Penalties

..and I wouldn't even give it to Rooney on Shot Accuracy. Everyone knows why Ronaldinho's not an out and out striker - shouldn't waste one of the best passers on earth way up in front.

..and you'd take Joe Cole over Messi? This year, fine.

Not next year however. And every year thereafter. Kinda harsh when you have to trump an 18 year old with the likes of Cole. He's not going to get much better if at all. Messi on the other hand....

I am not agreeing or disagreeing with anyone here but what Watty was trying to say was Rooney tracks back better and if he is given a holding job on the right of midfield he won't stand and watch his player run off him. I am sure with your vast knowledge of the game you can see he has a fair point here!

FINALLY!!! Someone gets it. Thanks arca.

Im sure people look at players and see fancy little step overs and think, "wow, he must be the greatest player in the world"

Yep its great to watch, but it isnt only what football is all about.

Players retain their default abilities in ML so it is pretty much useless to just change them. That is the bit that sucks about Messi's low abilities in the game.

Not in PES5 mate. Aslong as you change their abilities before you start a ML.

You can also add special abilities while youre playing in a ML and they'll show without starting a new one.

hmmm how can u guys compare messi , ronaldinho and rooney..they are totally different type of players..rooney is the type who helps the defenders a lot ...pick up the ball from deep , good body strength etc ...ronaldinho on the other hand plays differently ..i dont have to elaborate on this more coz u guys are soccer fans and know how to differentiate..same goes to messi ....he loves taking on defenders , one on one ...but hes no rooney or ronaldinho....but between them 3 i have to choose ronaldinho...hes just so exciting to watch....him alone can unlock the best defence in the world..ask ac milan or chelsea..

Arca I appreciate you sticking up for Watty but this is what the man said.

Rooney is the all around better player.

Don't get your heart mixed up with your head when talking about talent, skill, or who is the 'better player overall.' Ronaldinho is a better player, nobody was asking who your favorite was amongst the two. Big difference. Anyone that sits and looks at the two and says 'Rooney is better' has an agenda or some psychological thing, akin to fetishes, where you rate the inferior as superior.

This is a silly assed thing we are discussing. Should not be.

Youre right, i did say that. But again, you fail to see my point. And it has nothing to do with favourites. Im not a huge Rooney fan at all, but i can appreciate how good he is. As i can appreciate how good Ronaldinho is.

But when someone says "alround player" what does it mean to you?

How wonderfully skillful he is and how he can ball juggle?

Or does it suggest a player that will attack, defend, hold the midfield, show wonderful skill and work his bollocks off for the team?

In my OPINION and i highlight that as people seem to be constantly ignoring me... In my opinion Rooney is the better alround player.

So now i ask... Just drop it, its getting tiresome mate, seeing as though it seems impossible for someone to have a point of view in here without everyone taking it as a personal attack.

I can't understand how anyone who is debating a 'Footballer' can say it due to "fetishes" surely you don't rate people opinion's on just this alone. :erm:

Its time to take the blinkers off, and I for one will be holding most of englands chances on Rooney at the World Cup as he has the ability to make things happen!

You can like Rooney all you want but Ronaldinho would still be a far more valuable addition to any team than your english boy could hope for.
